We were there to celebrate my sons 16th birthday so we wanted to choose something close to Foxwoods Resort as there where several activities we had reserved to do there to accommodate both kids and adults. When we arrived, we were a bit surprised as it looks a bit out dated but we said since we are there for 1 night lets just get in. From check in everything was good and stuff very friendly. We got our keys and all the instructions of the hotel. We got to the rooms and were a bit disappointed as they seemed a bit dark not enough light in the room but we sucked it up. 1st activity we said lets do the pool before we leave. OMG, this was just amazing. The pool is big enough to accommodate a lot of people. The water was heavenly, nice and warm. The hot tub was amazing. Better yet, they close at 12pm and open at 7am. We had a blast. Even yet we went back to the pool after spending hours at Foxwoods. Breakfast, although simple, the lady that was covering bfst was so on top of everything and was so pleasant. Definitely we are coming back. Yes, its a bit outdated but very homely. Worth multiple returns.

Comfort Inn Introduce

For travelers seeking a convenient and comfortable stay in Griswold, Connecticut, the Comfort Inn at 375 Voluntown Rd stands out as a noteworthy option, particularly for those utilizing the "Hotels Near Of Me" search category. This hotel offers a blend of essential amenities and a homely atmosphere, making it a popular choice for families and individuals exploring the region, especially those visiting the prominent Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino.

The environment of the Comfort Inn Griswold, while acknowledged by some guests as being "a bit outdated," is widely described as "very homely." This suggests a focus on comfort and a welcoming atmosphere rather than a sleek, modern aesthetic. The common areas, including the lobby, are designed to be functional and inviting. The presence of a fireplace in the lobby, for instance, adds a touch of warmth and coziness. Despite an older appearance, the hotel generally maintains a clean and well-kept environment, which is frequently praised by guests. The overall ambiance aims to make guests feel at ease and at home, fostering a relaxed and enjoyable stay.

The services offered at the Comfort Inn Griswold are designed to enhance guest convenience and satisfaction. A standout feature is the complimentary breakfast, which receives consistent praise from guests. The breakfast spread, while described as "simple," includes a variety of options such as waffles, eggs (often described as typical scrambled, possibly from powder, but not bad), sausage, bagels, muffins, Danish pastries, yogurt, and fruit, accompanied by juice and coffee. The staff responsible for breakfast are often highlighted for their pleasantness and attentiveness, ensuring items are well-stocked. Another significant service is the indoor pool and hot tub facility. This amenity is exceptionally popular, with guests raving about its size, cleanliness, and the warmth of the water. The extended hours of operation, from 7 AM to 12 AM, are a major convenience, allowing guests to relax and enjoy the facilities even after a long day of activities. The hotel also offers a 24-hour fitness center, a 24-hour business center, and meeting rooms, catering to both leisure and business travelers. A very important service, especially for those visiting local attractions, is the free casino shuttle available on Friday and Saturday evenings, providing convenient transportation to Foxwoods Resort Casino. Guests consistently commend the staff for their friendliness and helpfulness, with specific mention of the manager, Debbie, for going "above and beyond" in making guests feel welcomed. Vending machines with snacks and drinks are available for quick bites, and a water dispenser with lemon-infused ice water is a thoughtful touch appreciated by guests.

The features of the Comfort Inn Griswold contribute significantly to its appeal. The guest rooms, while not described as fancy, are generally found to be clean and comfortable. The queen beds, in particular, are frequently noted for their comfort, ensuring a good night's sleep. Each room is equipped with essential amenities such as a refrigerator, microwave, flat-screen TV with premium channels, coffee/tea maker, iron/ironing board, and a private bathroom with a shower/tub combination, free toiletries, and a hairdryer. Blackout drapes/curtains are also provided for enhanced sleep quality. Free Wi-Fi and wired internet access are available in all rooms and public areas, although some guests have reported minor issues with Wi-Fi reliability. The hotel also offers connecting/adjoining rooms and free cribs/infant beds, making it suitable for families. For accessibility, select rooms offer accessible bathrooms, and the hotel provides assistive listening devices, Braille signage, grab bars in showers, and wheelchair-accessible parking and registration. The hotel's location, while noted by some as being a bit of a "hike" from major attractions like Foxwoods, is also highlighted for its convenience, being just minutes off Interstate 395 and providing a quieter setting. The specific distance to Foxwoods is approximately 11.3 miles by road. The hotel also offers a smoke-free environment throughout the property. It's important to note a discrepancy regarding the pet policy; while some sources indicate that the Comfort Inn Griswold does not allow dogs, other information suggests that small and large pets are allowed for an additional charge. Prospective guests traveling with pets should confirm the current policy directly with the hotel.

For promotional information, the Comfort Inn Griswold, as part of the Choice Hotels brand, participates in the Choice Privileges Program, allowing guests to earn rewards such as free nights and gift cards. The hotel's official website and popular booking platforms often highlight its key selling points, including the complimentary hot breakfast, indoor heated pool and hot tub, free Wi-Fi, and its proximity to Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino. Guests can contact the hotel directly at (860) 376-3200 or +1 860-376-3200 for reservations, inquiries about availability, and any special offers. Given its appeal to those visiting the casinos, the free casino shuttle service on select evenings is a significant promotional point. The positive feedback regarding the friendly staff and the quality of the pool facilities and breakfast are strong word-of-mouth promotions that encourage repeat visits. The hotel's emphasis on providing a comfortable and homely stay, even if the decor isn't ultra-modern, positions it as a reliable and welcoming choice for travelers in the Griswold area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The rooms had a few small issues, like the door handle was a little wonky - but once we learned the trick, it was fine. The rooms aren't anything fancy, but they were clean enough and comfortable. The queen beds were very comfortable. The breakfast, we thought, was very good and was a nice option to have. The sausage was great! Eggs were fine - typical scrambled eggs, probably from powder, but not bad. Waffles were good. And of course there were bagels, muffins, danish, yogurt, and fruit with juice and coffee. The pool and the hot tub were really really nice!! The pool was warm and a good size and we loved relaxing in the hot tub after a long day of vacation-y things. They are open from 7a-12a and that was super convenient! It's always frustrating when they close earlier in the night. The staff was so super friendly and made us feel very welcomed. Debbie the manager was especially friendly and really went above and beyond. The vending machines have great snacks and drinks, of course were a little pricey though. We loved the water dispenser with lemon infused ice water. It was a great touch. The hotel was far from the places we spent most of our time, so the back and forth was kind of annoying. But that was our fault for booking somewhere farther away. Many of the more affordable hotels didn't have a hot tub, so that's a big reason why we chose this location, even though it was a little bit of a hike. We would definitely stay here again.

I was a bit scared going in to our stay due to some of the reviews we saw. But we were pleasantly surprised at how not that bad it was. The breakfast was basic but good and there was always a lot. The room luckily was nice and clean. The pool area was very nice and large. But that was until we woke up one morning to frigid temperature water. Turned out the water heater for the entire hotel broke. We were without water for our final two days of our stay. When asked for a late check out so we can hopefully take a shower before we headed out for our final day of events, we were told we could stay until 12:30, 1 the latest just incase it would be fixed since the repairmen were scheduled to come in, “first thing in the morning”. But the hot water just never came back. The repair men still hadn’t returned when I asked in the morning. And the cherry on top. A knock on the door at 12:50. “We’re waiting on ya.” Basically being rushed out. What started out as a good stay really ended up as a complete let down. And to be rude on top of it right at the end, I’ll never visit this place again. I will add the majority of the staff was helpful, apologetic, and patient, however that last person really ruined it. I should’ve followed my gut, and the reviews, on this one and never bothered staying here.

I stay at this hotel every year on my birthday, because it’s middle of the winter and I just want to swim. And every year up until this one, I had a palatable stay. This year I was checked in and given a room that was gross. The bedding was wrinkled and had red/orange stains and the pillows were disheveled. Leading me to believe that the bedding was just remade with the last guests linens. There was hair is the shower and the shower drain. I immediately went back to the front desk and relayed my concerns & was told that the computer system showed that the room was in fact still listed as dirty. But they assured me they would send someone in to clean it immediately, I went back up to grab my wallet and keys from the room and was met with the cleaning lady who looked dumbfounded and kept saying ‘I cleaned the room this morning, what’s wrong with it’ …. Awkward. The hotel was booked full so naturally there were lots of people swimming. However there were kids with super soakers spraying EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE. The windows were dripping wet as well as my phone and towels. There is absolutely no regulation or anyone making sure the rules are being followed. The hallways smelled of cigarettes and the rooms/beds are falling apart. We ended up leaving and going back home at 9pm even though the room was non refundable. When I called the 800 number to file a complaint the gentleman couldn’t WAIT to inform me that no matter what happened, my room was non refundable. Choice Hotels is notorious for skimping their way through sub-par service. Don’t waste your money here.
