Its proximity to major local attractions is a key selling point. The hotel is notably the newest and closest Hilton property to Foxwoods Resort Casino, located just over a mile away (approximately a 4-minute drive), and it's less than a mile west of the Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods. It's also conveniently close to Mohegan Sun Casino, about 7 to 8.9 miles away, which typically translates to a 15-minute drive. This makes it an excellent alternative for those attending events or visiting the casinos, often offering a more affordable option compared to staying directly at the resort casinos. While the Hilton website indicates that airport shuttle services are not available, other sources suggest that a complimentary shuttle service to Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino may be available during limited hours. It is always advisable to confirm shuttle availability and schedule with the front desk directly upon check-in.
Beyond the casinos, the hotel provides easy access to other popular Connecticut destinations. These include:
For business travelers, the hotel's location is advantageous due to its proximity to major corporations and institutions such as Backus Hospital, Pfizer, Electric Boat/General Dynamics, Dow Chemical, Lowe's Distribution Center, Pepsi-Co's Frito-Lay Plant, Leidos-SAIC, as well as the Coast Guard Academy and the New London Submarine Base. Customer reviews offer valuable insights into the guest experience at Hilton Garden Inn Preston Casino Area. Many guests consistently praise the hotel's cleanliness and spacious rooms, with ratings for cleanliness often around 8.7-8.8/10. The staff and service also receive high marks, with numerous positive comments about friendly and helpful employees. One review specifically highlighted "Shelina" for exceptional customer service, indicating a positive impact on the guest's stay and expressing a desire for her recognition. Many find the staff to be very accommodating, super friendly, and helpful.
The hotel's location near Foxwoods is another frequently lauded aspect, making it a popular choice for casino visitors. Guests often mention it as a clean, spacious, and conveniently located option with easy and ample parking. The amenities, including the indoor pool and gym, are also well-regarded. The value for money is often cited as a reason for repeat visits, especially for those looking for a more budget-friendly option compared to staying directly at the casinos themselves. Many guests appreciate the quiet atmosphere despite its proximity to the casinos.
However, like any establishment, there have been some less favorable experiences. One review noted issues with room temperature control, specifically the heating being too high (70 degrees Fahrenheit), and reported a negative interaction with a front desk employee regarding this issue and breakfast prices. This feedback underscores the importance of consistent service quality across all staff members and ensuring comfort for all guests. Other minor concerns mentioned by some guests have included uncomfortable beds or pillows in isolated cases, and the occasional hot tub not being turned on or being dirty, although these appear to be isolated incidents not representative of the overall positive feedback. Some guests have also mentioned that while the hotel has a restaurant, the dinner menu might be limited, and the prices for in-room amenities could be considered high by some. The general consensus, however, leans towards a positive experience, with many guests expressing satisfaction and a willingness to return.
In summary, the Hilton Garden Inn Preston Casino Area provides a reliable and welcoming hotel experience for visitors to the Preston area. Its clean, well-appointed rooms, comprehensive amenities, and prime location near major attractions like Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun make it a strong contender for anyone searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in this vibrant region of Connecticut.

Mar 07, 2025 · Lexi PenninoWalked into the hotel room the heat was on 70 we had to turn ac on cause it was so hot in the room. All night it was hot as anything in the morning I went to the front desk and the gentlemen was as rude as anything and all he kept saying was I’m glad the heat works and could have cared less. I have stayed at many hiltons and never has it been so hot or dealt with such a rude employee. I also asked about breakfast prices and asked the price cause I forgot to add it when I reserved and he was rude telling me the price. Not sure I will ever visit this location again.!
Mar 17, 2025 · Elizabeth CedroneI have stayed 3 times at this hotel and have paid the additional pet fees for my dog the prior 2 visits with no issues with the hotel. Last night I was berated by the staff for having him with me in public! I came to the front desk and presented my VA card and my100 percent service connected disability letter. While I was being lectured again with people in the lobby I signed the pet paperwork that was presented to me . I guess this old Combat Veteran Is not welcome here
Apr 01, 2025 · David WilkinsonI recently stayed at this Hilton property and, unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. While there were some positive aspects, several issues overshadowed the positives, leaving me with a less than satisfactory impression. Room Quality: The rooms are clean and spacious, which is a definite plus. But the lack of decor made them feel echoey and uninviting. The bed was comfortable, but it didn’t quite fit the bed frame, which was a bit off-putting. The television was older and surprisingly small for such a large room, and the limited TV channel options didn't help. The remote was dirty and appears to not be cleaned that often. I liked the usb plug in by the bed, but the radio was a bit much. Temperature Control: Upon entering the room, we were greeted by an icy chill. We had to manually turn on the heat, which was inconvenient and uncomfortable at first. Being the middle of winter it was extremely odd to have to wait 30 minutes to take our jackets off in the room. Amenities: I appreciated the bottled water in the room, but charging $3.50 per bottle felt excessive. The blackout curtains were fantastic and really helped me get a restful sleep, but the overall experience was marred by other issues. Pool and Hot Tub: The pool area was nice, but the outdoor hot tub was disappointing. It was filled with leaves and overly foamy, which made me hesitant to use it, as it indicated a lack of cleanliness. After a while, the pool became overrun with kids, likely due to a basketball convention at Mohegan Sun. Unfortunately, the hotel staff didn’t seem to manage the situation, allowing the noise to spill into the hallways and elevators. The promise of enforced quiet hours was not upheld, and it felt chaotic. Staff Interaction: While the daytime check-in staff were knowledgeable and friendly, the overnight team was less helpful. I reached out for extra pillows, as the ones provided were paper-thin, but my request went unanswered. I really liked that the hotel sent a text to check on my stay but learned it was essentially useless as they didn’t respond to my inquiries, which felt frustrating and unprofessional. Privacy Concerns: One of the most troubling aspects was the vent between the bathrooms in guest rooms, which literally opened into the next room. This lack of privacy was alarming, especially after I had showered. When I raised this issue, I was told it was just how the hotel was designed, showing a distinct lack of empathy from the staff. You can literally hold your phone up to the vent and see into the other guests bathroom! Overall Impression: While the hotel has a great location near the casinos, the myriad of issues I encountered, from the noisy environment to the questionable cleanliness and lack of attention to guest comfort, left much to be desired. The owners seem to prioritize cutting costs over providing a quality experience for guests. The bizarre furniture choices in the entrance area make it clear that more thought went into aesthetics than guest satisfaction. As a frequent Hilton guest, I was surprised and disappointed by this experience. I would rank this stay as one of the lowest among Hilton hotels I've visited. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously, as there is significant potential for improvement.
Jan 10, 2025 · Erica AckleyVery inviting. Beautifully decorated. Gas fireplaces and firepit. Warm and cozy. Each person at the front desk was gracious and friendly. Bartender also. Rooms were spacious and clean with ample amenities. I really appreciated the "zero" products due to sensitivity to most perfumed bath products. Microwave, small refrigerator, and Kureig.
