I rarely if ever post negative reviews but this stay was a complete surprise. We had stayed at this property previously and were pleased. On the plus side, the young gentleman that checked us in was pleasant and engaging. I requested an upgrade and got it .... but that may have been a mistake. My wife and I aren't in the habit of inspecting rooms when we check in, and being it was late, we just went to sleep. When the sun came up me noticed a lot of cleanliness issues with the room (one so gross I won't even go into it here). It was too late (one night stay) to do much about it so I mentioned it to the desk person at check out. He was completely indifferent, didn't offer anything and didn't apologize. As a Bonvoy member, I am really surprised that Marriott would allow this. Now looking at other reviews, it appears this place has gone downhill. Sad
For individuals and families seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" in the iconic town of Hershey, Pennsylvania, the Courtyard Hershey Chocolate Avenue, located at 515 E Chocolate Ave, Hershey, PA 17033, USA, often comes into consideration. As part of the Marriott brand, it carries a certain expectation of quality and service. With direct contact available via phone at (717) 533-1750 or mobile at +1 717-533-1750, this hotel aims to provide a convenient base for exploring the area's numerous attractions. However, a detailed look, including recent guest feedback, offers a more nuanced understanding of what to expect from this property.
The environment of Courtyard Hershey Chocolate Avenue, by virtue of its address on East Chocolate Avenue, suggests a central and accessible location within Hershey. This positioning is generally advantageous for visitors looking to be close to Hershey's main attractions, such as Hersheypark, Hershey's Chocolate World, and various dining and entertainment options. Courtyard properties typically feature a modern lobby and common areas designed for both work and relaxation, often including a 'Bistro' for dining. However, recent guest reviews indicate that the physical environment of this particular property may show signs of wear and tear, with mentions of "bubbling peeling wallpaper," "stains," and "ripped carpet in the friggn elevator." This suggests that while the location remains strong, the upkeep of the physical plant might not align with the standard expected from a Marriott-branded hotel. The overall atmosphere, therefore, might be impacted by these maintenance issues, potentially detracting from a perception of a consistently clean and well-maintained property, which is crucial for those searching for a pleasant "Hotels Near Of Me" experience.
In terms of services, the Courtyard Hershey Chocolate Avenue offers standard hotel provisions, but the quality and consistency of these services, as reported by recent guests, appear to be variable. The initial check-in experience can be positive, with one guest noting a "pleasant and engaging" young gentleman at the front desk. However, subsequent interactions or service delivery can be less favorable. A significant point of contention raised by guests is the room cleaning service. It's reported that rooms are not automatically "turned over" daily unless specifically requested, which is a departure from common hotel practice and can lead to frustration, as one guest experienced when returning from work to an unserviced room. While a "housekeeper was very nice and happen to be by my room and gave me fresh towels and Tidied up quickly," this suggests that proactive service might be lacking. The absence of a manager on-site "during peak hours of having guests" is another concerning aspect of service, potentially hindering immediate resolution of guest issues. While front desk employees are noted to be "very nice and apologetic" and "far from her first time of dealing with this," this also implies a systemic issue that individual apologies cannot fully resolve. The hotel does offer a breakfast option in the lobby, but at a "top dollar" price without being included in the room rate.
The features of Courtyard Hershey Chocolate Avenue are designed to cater to various traveler needs, typical of the brand. These usually include guest rooms with comfortable beds, a desk area, and modern bathrooms. However, the customer reviews point to significant issues regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of these features. Guests have reported "cleanliness issues with the room," including "hairs in the tub not mine," which are fundamental aspects of hotel quality. The dated appearance ("dated decor") and physical defects like "bubbling peeling wallpaper" and "ripped carpet" suggest a lack of recent renovation or consistent upkeep. While the hotel offers a lobby area where guests can purchase food and drinks, the pricing of items like a "breakfast sandwich and a water" for "over 20$" has been highlighted as excessive, especially given the perceived state of the facilities. The presence of amenities such as a fitness center or an indoor pool, while common for Courtyard properties, are not specifically detailed in the provided reviews, but the general sentiment about maintenance suggests that any such facilities might also require attention. The hotel's location is a key feature, providing easy access to local attractions, which is a primary draw for those seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" in Hershey.
Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not directly mention specific ongoing promotions or packages offered by the Courtyard Hershey Chocolate Avenue. However, as a Marriott brand hotel, it would typically participate in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, allowing members to earn and redeem points, and potentially receive benefits like upgrades, although one Bonvoy member expressed surprise at the hotel's condition given Marriott's standards. The pricing strategy of the hotel, as indicated by a guest's comment about "charging top dollar," suggests that the hotel may be "banking on the volume" of tourists visiting Hershey, rather than relying heavily on competitive pricing or extensive promotional deals to attract guests. This strategy, as noted by the guest, may not encourage "return guests." Potential visitors searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" are advised to directly check Marriott's official website or major booking platforms for any available discounts, packages, or Bonvoy member rates. It is crucial to review recent guest feedback on these platforms to set realistic expectations about the current state of the property, despite its brand affiliation and convenient location. While the location remains a strong selling point, the overall value proposition might be affected by the reported maintenance and service issues.

May 09, 2025 · Charlie AnzmanI picked this hotel as I thought being a Marriott it’d be a nice relaxing clean and comfortable stay. Way off here. This place has not been kept up with. Bubbling peeling wallpaper, stains, ripped carpet in the friggn elevator?!? You’d think that’d be a tripping liability. My room was not clean by normal hotel standards, hairs in the tub not mine… came back from work at 6pm room still not turned over, went to the desk and asked why? No new towels no nothing. All I wanted was to come back and relax after a long day, NOPE… Well here you have to “request to have your room turned down” or they just don’t do it. There’s no hotel breakfast so I bought a breakfast sandwich in the lobby and a water it was over 20$… If your gonna charge top dollar than you should have top dollar facilities and amenities. I asked if I could speak with a manager (really not trying to be a Karen) was told there’s no manager here onsite at all. During peek hours of having guests, no manager… I’d take pics of all the ways this place has not kept up with basic maintenance but I’m going to find another hotel as I’m a in-town for the rest of the week and not living like this…. What a shame. I must say, the Employee at the front desk was very nice and apologetic. You could tell this was far from her first time of dealing with this… Said I’d like to move you to a suite but we don’t have one, but I’ll give you a free breakfast sandwich… Lol.. and also The housekeeper was very nice and happen to be by my room and gave me fresh towels and Tidied up quickly and I appreciate that. This hotel is clearly banking on the volume, this being a tourist destination without a shortage of people needing accommodations. Certainly not banking on return guests.
Apr 14, 2025 · Joshua FetteGenerally our stay was fine. The room could have been a bit cleaner (found hairs in the shower when we got there), and for some reason the alarm clock hadnt been reset and went off at 6am. The staff was pleasant. Parking was easy and free. There is a small pool but no hot tub.
Dec 03, 2024 · Maeve JExtremely clean! Indoor pool was clean and perfect temperature. Only complain was the "restaurant". More like a convenience store, very expensive and everything we wanted they were out of or unable to make due to toaster oven being out of order. $81 for 3 cheeseburgers :(
Jan 10, 2025 · Jaime SandsI stayed at this hotel on 11/2 for 1 night. I arrived late because I was at Hershey Park all day for my nephew's birthday. When I arrive I was greeted very coldly. I was told I still had a few minutes to order dinner at their restaurant. When I arrive I was only offered cookies, and I was there alone with my son. Then when I get to my room it's freezing cold and I was given a hard bed. I booked this hotel because it looked nice but the service was horrible. And when I complained I only received $44 back when I paid over $300, and some candy and an apology. Seems like an unprofessional and racist place.
