The people were very polite and welcoming, but during my stay the rooms on both sides and hall were very easy to hear whatever was going on, the guy next to me was quite loud but the other room at one point sounded like they were listening to an audio book? Which was concerning. the room overall was okay the bathroom was kinda weird and the TV was set in a weird place I only had a mini fridge for my stay and a communal microwave in the entrance area. This location from what I was told does not do free breakfast, but does have a gym, I attempted to find it but the signage was unclear so I did not go, but I was told it was in the basement. I don't recall it being mentioned but after my checkout I was hit with a receipt for about 15$ for every day for parking, I'm sure it was on something somewhere but I don't recall it being very clear. All this should be considered with what I'm sure was one of the cheapest rooms, but I felt confident expecting better quality from Marriott, the room noise insulation was probably the biggest hit for me, I don't think I'll come back here should business bring me back to the area.

The Courtyard Montvale is situated in a prominent business park setting, making it an excellent choice for corporate travelers. Its location offers easy access to major highways such as the Garden State Parkway and the New York State Thruway (I-87), facilitating commutes to nearby corporate headquarters. Within a short distance, guests can find major companies like Express Scripts, Mercedes-Benz USA (its North American headquarters are in Montvale), KPMG, Sharp Electronics, and Hackensack Meridian Health. While the immediate vicinity is corporate-focused, the area provides various dining options and local amenities. For leisure, the hotel is within a reasonable driving distance of golf courses, shopping centers, and recreational parks in Bergen County. Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is approximately 30 miles away, and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) is about 28 miles, providing convenient air travel connections. The hotel offers on-site parking, though it's important to note, as highlighted by customer reviews, that a daily parking fee of approximately $15 applies. This is a crucial detail for guests, as it may not always be explicitly clear upon booking, leading to unexpected charges.
The Courtyard Montvale is designed to offer a range of services that cater to the needs of its guests. The hotel features a 24-hour front desk, ensuring that assistance is available at any time. Guests can stay connected with complimentary Wi-Fi access throughout the property, which is essential for both business and leisure. A key amenity for many Courtyard properties is The Bistro, which serves as a casual dining option for breakfast and dinner. Unlike some hotels, the Courtyard Montvale does not typically include complimentary breakfast with the stay, and meals from The Bistro are an additional charge. Reviews indicate that the hotel also provides a communal microwave in the entrance area for guest use, which can be convenient. For those looking to maintain their fitness routine, the hotel includes a gym or fitness center. While one review mentioned difficulty in finding the gym due to unclear signage, it is reportedly located in the basement. Other common amenities at Courtyard properties include vending machines, ice machines, and often a small market for snacks and beverages. The hotel also has meeting facilities, ideal for corporate gatherings or small events. While the staff is frequently praised for being polite, welcoming, and attentive to complaints, guest reviews suggest that they may have limited empowerment to resolve all issues immediately, particularly those related to hotel policies like parking fees or early check-in charges.
The rooms at Courtyard Montvale aim to provide a comfortable and functional space for guests. Standard room features typically include air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and coffee makers. Each room is designed with a work area, including a desk and ergonomic chair, catering to business travelers. While the rooms generally provide essential comforts, some specific design choices and aspects have been noted by past guests. Reviews highlight that room noise insulation can be a significant concern, with guests reporting being able to easily hear conversations or sounds from adjacent rooms and the hallway. This can impact the overall tranquility of the stay. Furthermore, the bathroom design has been a point of discussion, with some guests mentioning "French doors" with glass panes, which might compromise privacy. Room amenities may include a mini-fridge but not always a full-sized microwave within the room itself. The quality of in-room amenities like towels has also been mentioned, with some guests describing them as harsh or old. While the rooms are generally maintained, these specific design and insulation aspects are important considerations for potential guests seeking a quiet and private environment.
While the provided customer reviews do not explicitly mention a pet policy, Courtyard by Marriott properties often have a pet-friendly approach, though policies can vary by individual location. Typically, if a Courtyard hotel allows pets, there will be a non-refundable pet fee per stay or per night, along with potential weight restrictions. It is always recommended for guests planning to travel with pets to contact the Courtyard Montvale directly at (201) 391-7700 to confirm their current pet policy, any associated fees, and specific restrictions before booking their stay, ensuring a smooth experience for both themselves and their animal companions.
As a Marriott Bonvoy property, the Courtyard Montvale participates in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, allowing members to earn and redeem points for stays, access exclusive member rates, and enjoy benefits such as mobile check-in and complimentary Wi-Fi. The hotel frequently offers various promotions throughout the year. These can include seasonal discounts, packages for extended stays, or special rates for AAA/CAA members, AARP members, and government/military personnel. Guests are encouraged to check the official Marriott website or the Courtyard Montvale's specific page for the most up-to-date promotional offers and packages. However, it's important for guests to be aware of additional charges that may not be immediately obvious, such as the daily parking fee (around $15 per day) and potential fees for early check-in (e.g., $50 as mentioned in a review). While the hotel may offer competitive room rates, these additional costs should be factored into the overall value proposition. Guests should carefully review all terms and conditions during the booking process to avoid any surprises. The perceived value for money, especially in terms of sound insulation, is a point of contention for some past guests who expected higher quality from a Marriott brand.

Mar 22, 2025 · ?I've been a loyal Marriott rewards customer for decades and this is the first time I have been majorly disappointed. Parking cost is $15 per night for this property that resides in a country area with many empty parking spaces, it's not an inner city location where space is premium. Early checkin in available for a $50 fee - never heard this marketing scheme before but Marriott once again is penny pinching and squeezing their customers. And how about the $6 fee for a bottle of water in the rooms. Let's talk about my customer experience - room towels are harsh, rough, not thirsty, and old - room walls are so thin as you can hear voices on both sides of the room - door to the bathroom, which designer thought that have 2 french doors like with glass panes you can see through would be a good idea? - doors do not close firmly nor lock properly. Staff was very nice, listened to our complaints but were not empowered to satisfy in any way. BTW readers, there is a Hilton Woodcliff Lake nearby.
Mar 18, 2025 · Dee RogersThis hotel is ripping me off of 350.00 due to a device that says I smoked in the room which I would never!! I asked the Front desk gentleman to come to my room and see if he smelled smoke he came in and said he smelled nothing!! Asked them to take the charge off he replied there's nothing they can do due to the device detected a change in the air quality!! How is this even possible they can just charge my card!! I 100 percent did not smoke in this room. I will be filing a complaint with corporate and bbb... RIDICULOUS!!! Oh by the way I'm an employee!!!
May 11, 2025 · Kim StilesStaff is very friendly and professional. The room was clean and I'm a clean freak. Nice view of the courtyard. Bed was comfy. I was on a quick business trip, but I would stay here for a vacation. Next time I'm in the area for business I'll take an extra day or two. Highly recommend staying at this Courtyard in Montvale.
Jan 16, 2025 · Tommy SchweissFridge was not plugged so I lost 50$ of food because I discovered it the day after. There was an old lady next to our room who put the volume to maximum every night with a lot of bass and we barely slept. Reception was understanding but couldn't do anything but try to call her and she didnt answered. She probably fell asleep watching tv every night because the sound stopped around 7-8 am every morning. I called 3 times to speak to a manager for a refund but they didnt answer nor call us back. I called Marriott bonvoy to have a compensation and am still waiting for a resolution. Oh, and the EV charger doesnt work, which is very annoying. We will NEVER come back to this place.
