My wife and I came to this location Saturday 5/17 to Sunday 5/18. When we 1st arrived, our card wouldn't open the door although the indicator light on the lock turned green so we were let in to our room by a nice guy named Hugo. He said it looks like the lock needs a battery change. I said to him my wife and I will be going back out in a couple of minutes so that would be perfect. Later on that night at about 11pm'ish we get back from our date night. We stopped at the front desk to have them reset the cards to make sure there is no issue from the batteries being changed so the front desk guy resets the keys and we go to our room. The key would not work so again we had to wait for someone to come and let us in. They told us that if we plan to go out anymore we would need to let the staff let us in. We decided to stay in the rest of the night. Next day at about 9:45am someone is banging on our door so we went to answer and there was a lady asking if we are checking out today. I said yes we are, then I asked isn't check at 12noon? She said yes. Frustrated my wife and I went to lay back down so that we can enjoy the little bit of time we had left. About 10 minutes later we hear someone messing with the lock and trying to come in. I jumped out of bed and saw a man trying to come in so I opened the door and some man is asking me if there is something wrong with the lock and I said yes but we are checking out today so come back after, but his response was I will be back in 10 minutes. My wife and I were so annoyed that we packed up, didnt even brush our teeth and left. I went to the front desk to check out and told them everything that happened and the lady at the front desk said, oh I am so sorry, have a good day and that's it. It did not phase her one bit that we had such a horrible stay at this place. Very disappointed. Never again! Never ever! And the toilet had to be flushed 2 times with each use.

However, an objective introduction requires acknowledging customer experiences, which for Residence Inn Saddle River present a mixed picture. While some aggregate reviews, including those from Marriott's own platform, indicate generally positive ratings for location (4.4 out of 5), cleanliness (4.1 out of 5), and service (4.1 out of 5), specific recent reviews highlight significant operational and maintenance challenges.
One detailed negative review outlines a "horrible stay" primarily due to issues with room access and intrusive maintenance. The guest experienced recurring problems with their key card not working, requiring staff assistance multiple times. Even after a battery change and key reset, the issue persisted, forcing them to rely on staff to be let into their room. A particularly frustrating incident involved hotel staff, including a lady asking about check-out time well before the 12 PM deadline (at 9:45 AM), followed by a maintenance person attempting to enter their room without explicit permission, stating they would return in 10 minutes despite being informed of the guests' imminent departure. This lack of respect for privacy and check-out times is a serious concern. The same review also noted a malfunctioning toilet that required "two flushes with each use."
Another review raises serious concerns about cleanliness and environmental quality. The guest reported that "hallways smells like some kind of chemical compound mixed with a faded cat smell." The room itself was described as "put together but not cleaned," specifically mentioning "pee on" the bathroom/toilet, "hair inside" the bedding, an "itchy" top sheet, and "stains on couches." Furthermore, a "bag over the fire detector" was noted, which is a significant safety hazard that directly contradicts safety standards and could lead to severe consequences. These detailed complaints point to a severe inconsistency in hotel standards and potentially a systemic issue with maintenance and housekeeping, despite the brand's stated commitment to cleanliness and enhanced protocols. Other reviews from recent months also echo concerns about the hotel being "run down," needing "a lot of work," and rooms being "dated and dirty," with some guests reporting lack of hot water.
In conclusion, the Residence Inn Saddle River aims to provide a comfortable and convenient extended-stay experience with its suite-style accommodations and array of services typical of the Marriott brand. Its location offers accessibility and proximity to various local amenities. However, prospective guests using "Hotels Near Of Me" must be aware of the notable inconsistencies in guest experiences, particularly regarding room maintenance, cleanliness, staff adherence to guest privacy and check-out protocols, and general upkeep. While some guests have very positive experiences with friendly staff and clean rooms, others have encountered significant issues that severely detract from their stay. Therefore, it is advisable for visitors to consider these varied accounts when deciding on their accommodation.

May 18, 2025 · Alex GonzalezHallways smells like some kind of chemical compound mixed with a faded cat smell. Room had a bag over the fire detector. Room was put together but not cleaned specifically bathroom/toilet had pee on it, bedding had hair inside and the top sheet made me itchy, stains on couches. Spent the first night feeling suffocated and having an anxiety attack. Wonder if I'd asked for a different room if its had a different experience.
May 17, 2025 · Maya KelseyComfortable suites and friendly attentive staff, especially Kathleen on reception. Small but quite well equipped exercise room. It is a bit further away from the local amenities than I realised. The wifi is also quite random as to if it is going to be quick or not.
May 15, 2025 · Ian ClaridgeNice place but staff rude and not helpful. Asked for a final receipt when I checked out for expense purposes and was told they can't print one because I booked through a third party? They had my CC on file and ran incidentals yet couldn't supply receipt? Both at front desk were cocky and rude. I don't know, maybe it is a New Jersey thing. It was my first time here. I travel all over America for work and live out of hotels. Very disappointing.
Mar 30, 2025 · U S AThe staff is what makes this place great. We had an incredibly cheerful check-in, even though it was late at night, and super helpful with maps and clear directions. Morning staff was bright and sunshiny, and they put extra personal effort and detail into things. We don't actually have pets, but the treats and gifts and special things to make life easier for pet owners look like they would be super helpful, too!
