Hotel is clean and within close proximity of restaurants and shopping. Traveling from out of town for Hockey and booked through a third-party online because it was less expensive. Wasn’t able to access electronic key with an online check-in because we booked through a third-party The only available room I was able to get through the third-party was a king bed and a pullout sofa bed. When I checked in and asked if they had any rooms with two double beds, I was told yes, but they weren’t available to me because I booked through a third-party. Really disappointing.
For individuals searching for accommodations on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform in the New Haven/Wallingford area of Connecticut, the Courtyard New Haven Wallingford may appear as a prominent option. Located at 600 Northrop Rd, Wallingford, CT 06492, USA, and readily accessible via phone at (203) 284-9400 or mobile at +1 203-284-9400, this hotel is part of the Marriott family of brands, generally signifying a certain standard of quality and service. This detailed introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the hotel's environment, services, features, and potential promotional information, while critically incorporating insights from recent customer reviews to offer a comprehensive perspective for local users.
The "Hotels Near Of Me" category is invaluable for users seeking convenient and reliable lodging in their vicinity or a specific travel destination. As a Courtyard by Marriott, this hotel is often perceived as a reputable choice for both business and leisure travelers, offering amenities designed for a comfortable and productive stay. However, recent feedback suggests that prospective guests should be aware of specific aspects that may impact their experience, particularly concerning third-party bookings and property security.
The Courtyard New Haven Wallingford is situated at 600 Northrop Road in Wallingford, Connecticut. This location typically places the hotel within a commercial or suburban district, characteristic of many Courtyard properties. It is noted as being "within close proximity of restaurants and shopping," which is a significant advantage for guests seeking dining options and retail therapy without extensive travel. Northrop Road, while not a bustling downtown street, likely offers easy access to major roadways, facilitating travel to various points of interest in Wallingford, New Haven, and the wider central Connecticut region. This environment is generally geared towards convenience for guests arriving by car, with ample parking usually available. The presence of nearby establishments suggests a developed area with practical amenities for travelers. The setting is likely to be professional and well-maintained, fitting the typical Courtyard aesthetic, offering a quiet retreat from major thoroughfares while still providing quick access to essential services and entertainment. The overall environment supports both short-term stays for business or leisure and potentially longer visits for those exploring the region.
As a Courtyard by Marriott, this hotel generally provides a range of standard services designed for guest comfort and convenience. These typically include a 24-hour front desk, complimentary Wi-Fi, and often a bistro or café on-site for breakfast and light meals. Fitness centers and business centers are common amenities. However, customer reviews highlight a significant service caveat related to third-party bookings. A guest reported being "not able to access electronic key with an online check-in because we booked through a third-party." Furthermore, room availability was restricted: "The only available room I was able to get through the third-party was a king bed and a pullout sofa bed. When I checked in and asked if they had any rooms with two double beds, I was told yes, but they weren’t available to me because I booked through a third-party. Really disappointing." This indicates a discriminatory service policy for guests who do not book directly, which can lead to significant dissatisfaction and limit room choice. While general service quality regarding cleanliness was praised ("Hotel is clean"), the specific issues with third-party bookings are a critical aspect of the hotel's service delivery that prospective guests must be aware of. This policy directly impacts convenience and flexibility for a segment of travelers who often seek competitive rates through online travel agencies.
The Courtyard New Haven Wallingford, being a Marriott brand, is expected to feature well-designed guest rooms with comfortable bedding, a functional workspace, and modern amenities. The review confirms that the "Hotel is clean," which is a fundamental feature that positively impacts guest experience. Rooms would likely include a flat-screen TV, coffee maker, and a well-appointed bathroom. Common areas, such as the lobby and potentially a fitness center or pool, would typically be part of the hotel's features. However, a significant and alarming concern raised by a customer review pertains to property security: "a hotel does not have any cameras outside to look over the parking lot... there's only one exit to the parking lot they can't even have a camera for there so beware your car might get stolen right out of the parking lot. Like my husband's...." This complete lack of external surveillance cameras, especially in the parking lot and at the exit, represents a major flaw in security features. This absence directly impacts guest safety and the security of their property, which is a critical feature expected from any reputable hotel, especially one associated with a major brand like Marriott. The reviewer explicitly states, "it's not just about the car but it's about the safety you never know what can happen but just knowing there's no cameras wouldn't make me not want to stay here at all or any of the hotels that go with it Marriott.. DO BETTER." This severely undermines the overall perception of safety and security, which is a paramount feature for any lodging establishment.
For users searching on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, the Courtyard New Haven Wallingford benefits from the strong promotional appeal of the Marriott brand. Marriott properties often advertise through various channels, highlighting their consistent quality, comfortable accommodations, business-friendly amenities, and the benefits of their loyalty program (Marriott Bonvoy). Potential promotions could include discounted rates for Bonvoy members, seasonal packages, corporate rates, or deals for extended stays. The hotel's location "within close proximity of restaurants and shopping" would also be a key promotional point. However, the promotional message needs to be critically assessed in light of the customer feedback. While the brand promises a certain level of service and security, the reported issues with third-party bookings and, more significantly, the lack of external security cameras, challenge these implicit promises. Guests booking through third parties might find their experience diminished, potentially not receiving the full benefits or room flexibility advertised. More critically, any promotion of a safe and secure stay is contradicted by the reported security concerns regarding the parking lot. Therefore, while the hotel's marketing might focus on typical Courtyard strengths, prospective guests using the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform should consider these significant reported deficiencies. It is advisable to contact the hotel directly at (203) 284-9400 or +1 203-284-9400 to inquire about current rates, room availability policies for third-party bookings, and specifically, current security measures for parking, to make an informed decision.
The customer reviews for the Courtyard New Haven Wallingford present a mixed but ultimately concerning picture for prospective guests searching on "Hotels Near Of Me." The first review begins positively, noting the "Hotel is clean and within close proximity of restaurants and shopping," which are strong points. However, it quickly transitions to significant dissatisfaction regarding the hotel's policy for third-party bookings. The inability to use an electronic key and being denied access to preferred room types (two double beds) because of booking through a third-party was "Really disappointing." This highlights a significant friction point for guests using common online booking channels. The second review, a stark "Would give a negative stars....." rating, focuses entirely on a critical safety and security issue: the complete absence of external cameras, particularly in the parking lot. The reviewer explicitly states, "beware your car might get stolen right out of the parking lot. Like my husband's...." This is a severe allegation that directly impacts guest safety and property security. The reviewer extends this concern to the broader Marriott brand, urging them to "DO BETTER." This feedback is paramount as it points to a fundamental flaw in basic hotel security, which overrides many other positive aspects a hotel might offer. While the hotel maintains cleanliness, the significant operational issues with third-party bookings and the critical security lapse in parking lot surveillance are major deterrents for any guest prioritizing convenience, flexibility, and especially safety and security.

Mar 13, 2025 · Sandra MurrayWould give a negative stars..... I find it crazy that a hotel does not have any cameras outside to look over the parking lot what if there was an emergency outside what if somebody got kidnapped or something outside like so many things can happen nowadays there's cameras everywhere but this hotel does not have any on the outside of the building to protect the patrons not even one on the exit there's only one exit to the parking lot they can't even have a camera for there so beware your car might get stolen right out of the parking lot. Like my husband's.... So it's not just about the car but it's about the safety you never know what can happen but just knowing there's no cameras wouldn't make me not want to stay here at all or any of the hotels that go with it Marriott.. DO BETTER.
May 05, 2025 · robin taylorI’d love this place more if it included free breakfast like the other hotels of similar price & quality in this area do. Several of my friends love this hotel because it has a Starbucks inside of it. They really only have simple Starbucks breakfast items available for purchase so don’t expect a full meal. The rooms were nice enough & it was very clean. No complaints there. If you are in this area & love Starbucks, this is the hotel for you. If you like a hot full breakfast, look elsewhere.
Nov 10, 2024 · R SWe spent a week here while renovations were being done on our house. The room was excellent with a mattress encasement (as we requested). The staff were friendly and helpful. I was surprised that there actually is a food service in the lobby along with the Starbucks coffee bar. Make sure you know the hours the food is available. The lobby is also very nice with a fireplace and different seating options include booths with their own TV's. It's just off the exit from I-91 so there is easy access. It's a short drive into the center of Wallingford where there are lots of commercial dining and shopping options.
