I understand the $100 deposit and no breakfast policy, but the room lacked even basic drinking water. There was a coffee machine, but no coffee supplies, and the lobby coffee station was never refilled. If you wanted water, you had to pay at a vending machine. The location wasn’t great either, with very few dining options nearby. For the price paid, I expected at least minimal hospitality—like complimentary water and a functioning coffee setup. Hopefully, management improves these essentials for future guests.
For local users exploring options on platforms like 'Hotels Near Of Me' in search of accommodation, the Red Roof Inn Meriden, located at 10 Bee St, Meriden, CT 06450, USA, might appear as a choice. As part of the Red Roof Inn brand, it typically positions itself as a budget-friendly and pet-friendly option. Prospective guests can contact the hotel at (203) 235-5154 or via mobile at +1 203-235-5154 for inquiries and reservations. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview, drawing upon available public information and, notably, recent customer feedback, to offer a comprehensive understanding of what a stay at this property might entail.
The environment of the Red Roof Inn Meriden is a critical aspect to consider, especially given its location. Situated at 10 Bee St, the hotel's immediate surroundings and accessibility are important. However, according to customer feedback, the "location wasn’t great," with a notable scarcity of "very few dining options nearby." This suggests that guests might need to travel further afield for meals beyond what the hotel might offer or for diverse culinary experiences. While not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, the general environment of budget hotels in commercial areas can sometimes be subject to external noise or a less aesthetic immediate vicinity. The internal environment of the rooms is also a significant point of concern. While the basic structure of a Red Roof Inn room typically includes a bed, private bathroom, and essential furnishings, the provided reviews highlight a lack of basic provisions within the room, such as "basic drinking water" and coffee supplies for the in-room coffee machine. This absence of expected amenities can significantly impact a guest's comfort and perception of the room's environment. The overall impression from reviews points to an environment that, while offering a place to sleep, may lack the attention to detail and convenient comforts often sought by travelers.
Regarding services, the Red Roof Inn brand typically emphasizes core lodging services, often including pet-friendly accommodations. However, customer experiences at this specific location raise significant concerns about the quality and consistency of these services. While the hotel has a "no breakfast policy" (which a guest "understand"), the absence of "basic drinking water" and un-refilled "lobby coffee station" point to a deficiency in even minimal hospitality. Guests are expected to "pay at a vending machine" for water, which contrasts with the complimentary provisions often found even in budget hotels. This indicates a very limited approach to basic guest services. More critically, the customer service experience at the front desk appears to be severely problematic. One guest reported a major "inconvenience" involving a double payment for a room (once online, once in cash upon arrival). When seeking assistance to resolve this issue and obtain manager information for a refund, the "clerk refused to give me manager information" and "then proceeded to hang up on me." This demonstrates a significant breakdown in professional communication and a lack of willingness to assist guests with critical issues. Such an experience clearly contradicts the expectation of even "minimal hospitality." The review specifically states, "I have never experienced this inconvenience when reserving a room online," underscoring the severity of the service failure. This suggests that while basic check-in/check-out services are available, post-transaction customer support may be severely lacking, posing a risk to guests encountering problems.
The features of the Red Roof Inn Meriden, as a standard Red Roof Inn property, typically include basic room amenities designed for a straightforward stay. These generally encompass comfortable beds, a private bathroom, a television, and air conditioning. In-room coffee makers are also a common feature, although as noted in one review, the availability of coffee supplies for these machines might be inconsistent. The brand is well-known for being "pet-friendly," often allowing pets to stay for free, which is a key feature for many travelers. This can be a significant draw for users on 'Hotels Near Of Me' who are traveling with their animal companions. Other features often found at Red Roof Inn properties include free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour front desk, and free parking, which are essential conveniences for modern travelers. However, the operational issues mentioned in the reviews – such as the lack of basic water and coffee supplies, and dysfunctional customer service – suggest that even standard features might not be consistently supported or maintained to a satisfactory level. The availability of vending machines for snacks and beverages is a common feature, though relying on them for basic drinking water (which is typically complimentary in many hotels) can be an unexpected cost. The general impression from customer feedback is that the hotel may be lacking in essential features that contribute to a comfortable stay, beyond just providing a bed.
From a promotional standpoint, the Red Roof Inn Meriden primarily competes on price, aiming to attract local users on 'Hotels Near Of Me' who are seeking the most affordable accommodation option. The brand's reputation for being budget-friendly and pet-friendly are its main promotional hooks. However, the customer reviews indicate that even "for the price paid," guests expected more "minimal hospitality," such as complimentary water and a functioning coffee setup. This suggests that while the price might be low, the perceived value might also be low due to the lack of basic amenities and poor customer service. While specific promotional offers for this particular location are not detailed, Red Roof Inn as a chain often offers discounts for online bookings, extended stays, or through its RediRewards loyalty program. However, the extremely negative experiences described by guests, particularly concerning billing issues and staff unhelpfulness, could severely deter potential customers regardless of promotional pricing. The stark warnings from dissatisfied guests, such as "If I could give this a zero I would" and the implied dissatisfaction with the overall experience ("Hopefully, management improves these essentials for future guests"), serve as powerful counter-promotional messages. Therefore, while the hotel might present itself as a cheap option, prospective guests are strongly advised to carefully consider the quality of service and amenities they can expect, even at a lower price point.
In conclusion, for local users navigating 'Hotels Near Of Me' in Meriden, CT, the Red Roof Inn Meriden, despite its brand recognition, presents a highly problematic profile based on recent customer feedback. The environment is described as having a less-than-ideal location with limited dining options, and rooms are noted for lacking basic provisions like drinking water and coffee supplies. Services are a significant point of concern, with severe complaints regarding the absence of minimal hospitality and highly unprofessional customer service, particularly concerning billing disputes. While the hotel offers standard Red Roof Inn features such as pet-friendliness and basic room amenities, the operational issues suggest these features may not be reliably supported. From a promotional standpoint, its likely affordability is heavily outweighed by the consistent negative experiences, indicating a very low perceived value for the price paid. Therefore, potential guests are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and consider the numerous reports of unsatisfactory service and lack of basic amenities before choosing to stay at the Red Roof Inn Meriden, as the experience may fall far short of even minimal expectations for hospitality.

May 19, 2025 · lynn FangIf I could give this a zero I would. I reserved my room online. When I went into the facility the clerk at the desk asked me if I wanted to pay cash or card. I paid cash not knowing the reservation was already paid for with my card. When I contacted the hotel for help on how to get the charge returned, since I paid cash, the clerk refused to give me manager information so I could relate it to the reservation company in order for them to refund me, then proceeded to hang up on me. I have never experienced this inconvenience when reserving a room online.
Apr 08, 2025 · Yashira OrtizI had a great experience staying here! The hotel is quiet, the rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Special shout out to the front desk worker, which I believe has an Indian background, he was very attentive and helpful!!! Everyone I spoke with was great. Overall, good experience and the hotel is located like a 1 minute drive from like 5 fast food restaurants lol which is great.

Nov 19, 2024 · Alex ThompsonThis property was immaculate and comfortable. Exceeded all expectations - good staff, easy access, welcoming to our 2 cats - the front desk immediately sent someone to gently locate them when they disappeared inside the bed. We booked a room with a king bed, microwave and refrigerator. It was so spacious, comfortable and quiet that we extended our weekend stay to 8 days. We couldn't move to our new place for 3 weeks and we're very unhappy with hotel /motel accommodations until we found this location. We associated the Red Roof brand with a much lower standard of comfort and safety - especially for the price. WE WERE SO WRONG. Unlike other more expensive and higher rated brands with dirty hallways and parking lots serving as gathering spots for various types, guest comfort and safety were prioritized. I highly recommend the Red Roof chain, especially if traveling with animals. You won't be disappointed.
