If you know what this place is, then you'd be prepared before coming in. Read the reviews. Yes smoke smell fills the halls. Yes roaches were everywhere. But take some roach traps, some spray with you on your stay~ don't use the sheets or blankets given, and it's not that bad of a time. Microwave and fridge are given. Plugs for charging were sufficient. Just get some disinfectant spray, wipes & you're good. Takes some self sufficiency to make nothing into something. Plus staff seems friendly. Nice place to be by yourself.
For local users and travelers seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" in Meriden, Connecticut, the Meriden Inn, located at 1102 E Main St, Meriden, CT 06450, USA, offers a very specific type of accommodation. It is important to approach this hotel with a clear understanding of what it provides, particularly given recent guest feedback. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview, drawing directly from customer reviews to inform potential guests.
The environment at the Meriden Inn, based on guest observations, presents significant challenges. Multiple reviews highlight a pervasive "smoke smell fills the halls," creating an immediate negative impression upon arrival. Furthermore, the presence of "roaches everywhere" is a critical concern related to hygiene and pest control, which is a fundamental expectation for any accommodation. Guests have also reported a "very strong smell of bedbugs and mold," indicating potential issues with air quality and structural integrity. The overall cleanliness of the property, including "gross bathrooms," and the re-use of "nasty ass towels that were on the gross bathroom floor," points to a severe lack of proper housekeeping and sanitation. The exterior environment, or at least the parking area, has also been a source of complaint, with one guest reporting their car was "scratched and put some sticky slimy stuff all over it." These environmental factors strongly suggest that the hotel's physical condition and cleanliness are significant areas of concern that impact the guest experience.
The services provided at Meriden Inn, as experienced by guests, appear to be minimal and, in some cases, ineffective. While "staff seems friendly," which is a positive note, the overall service infrastructure seems to fall short. The emergency number, for instance, was described as "worthless," with "no one answers you," which is a critical lapse in guest support, especially in a hotel environment. For a hotel that allows pets, a specific concern was raised about noise from pets on upper floors, suggesting a lack of policy or inadequate soundproofing ("tap tap tap" sounds and "slammed a bucket of marbles"). This indicates that while the hotel is pet-friendly, the management of pet accommodation may not be optimized for the comfort of all guests. The general sentiment is that the hotel requires a high degree of "self sufficiency" from its guests to manage the conditions they encounter, implying a basic level of traditional hotel service is not reliably met.
Regarding features, the Meriden Inn offers some very basic amenities in its rooms. Guests can expect to find a "microwave and fridge," which are useful for storing and preparing simple meals, particularly for longer stays or for those on a strict budget. "Plugs for charging were sufficient," indicating that basic connectivity for electronic devices is available. However, beyond these functional items, the comfort and quality of other in-room features are severely questioned. The "bed" is described as a "cot with blown out mattress and flat pillows," which directly impacts the quality of sleep and overall comfort. The sheets and blankets provided are also cautioned against, suggesting a need for guests to bring their own bedding for peace of mind. The rooms reportedly lack sufficient heating or cooling, adding to discomfort. The presence of "homeless people sleeping in the lobby" is another concerning feature that impacts the safety and welcoming atmosphere of the hotel's common areas, further highlighting a distressed environment.
Given the objective information from the reviews, specific promotional information for the Meriden Inn is not readily available or widely advertised in a positive light. The primary "promotion" or appeal of this hotel, implicitly, seems to be its exceptionally low price point. As one reviewer stated, "If you know what this place is, then you'd be prepared before coming in. Read the reviews." This suggests that the hotel likely attracts a clientele that prioritizes the absolute lowest cost for lodging above all other considerations, including cleanliness, comfort, and comprehensive services. For those specifically seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" at the very bottom of the price spectrum, and who are willing to come equipped with their own cleaning supplies ("roach traps, some spray... disinfectant spray, wipes") and potentially bedding, the hotel might be seen as a bare-bones option. However, for the vast majority of travelers expecting standard hotel conditions, this property may not meet basic expectations. Potential guests are advised to contact the hotel directly at (203) 634-4700 or +1 203-634-4700 to confirm current rates and any specific policies, but it is crucial to temper expectations based on the provided customer experiences.
In conclusion, the Meriden Inn, for those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Meriden, CT, appears to be a property that caters to a very specific, highly budget-conscious demographic. Its primary appeal seems to be its price, in exchange for which guests should anticipate significant compromises on cleanliness, environmental quality, and service levels. Reviews consistently point to issues such as pervasive odors, pest infestations, unsanitary conditions in bathrooms and bedding, and a general lack of maintenance and responsive support. While microwaves and refrigerators are available in rooms, the overall comfort and quality of the accommodations are severely lacking. Therefore, for most travelers, particularly families or those seeking a comfortable and standard hotel experience, the Meriden Inn would likely not be a suitable choice. It is presented as an option only for those fully prepared for a highly self-sufficient stay and who are willing to overlook substantial deficiencies in exchange for a minimal cost.

Dec 13, 2024 · Jordan MarksIf you're going to allow pets keep them on the lower floor or install carpeting. I've been dealing with tap tap tap for the past 20 or so hours and it's driving me crazy.... Sounds like they keep slamming a bucket of marbles on the floor too. They tried to get me to believe a dog is rolling ball bearings across the floor and dropping a bowling ball into a bucket of ball bearings. The "bed" is a cot with blown out mattress and flat pillows. They folded the nasty ass towels that were on the gross bathrooms floor for 2 weeks and put them back on the rack. The place has a very strong smell of bedbugs and mold. Someone scratched my car and put some sticky slimy stuff all over it. Nothing but ignorant, ghetto people staying there. Homeless people sleeping in the lobby. Emergency number is worthless, no one answers you.
