We are still here and it is a clean and comfortable hotel. It has spacious rooms and basic toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar of soap, and 1 makeup wipe). It is in a central location to the highway, shopping, and restaurants. If you are going to New Haven, it is about a 25-30 minute drive. They have a pool and other facilities but we did not use those so I cannot comment. It must be a great hotel as a couple were getting married here during our stay. They have a sit-down breakfast area near the front desk with lots of light and windows. It is a paid breakfast. There is also a cute little bar for drinks and a dinner lounge if you just don't feel like going out. We have not tried these, so we can not give a review. We are here for 2 nights. Last night, we had some issues with the thermostat but got it working this morning. We asked when we were leaving if we could have an extra blanket and 2 extra towels. The concierge agreed and took our room number and let us know it will be there when we return. We came back quite late at night due to a local event. No towels, no blanket, the room. Had not been tidied. No garbage removal, no coffee or cream in the room for the morning. We needed the extra towel because there was no shower mat to prevent slipping and cold wet tiles. We are also 3 girls. We needed 1 towel to replace the one we needed to use for the floor and another for one of the girls with long hair. We will try to reach out to the front desk in the morning and hope we can get what we had asked for prior to showering. The blanket we are fine without as the heat is now working beautifully. Overall, it's an excellent hotel. I can't say one employees error is the make or break for this hotel. It has plenty of other amenities. It's safe and comfortable. I enjoyed the room and hotel itself and the rest of the staff we have seen are very customer service oriented and professional and would recommend this again.

The hotel itself presents a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. While some reviews suggest minor imperfections like wallpaper coming off or the need for some painting, the overall impression is one of cleanliness and functionality. The lobby features a welcoming fireplace, and the sit-down breakfast area near the front desk is described as having "lots of light and windows," creating a pleasant space to start the day. The property has 161 rooms and offers a modern aesthetic within its multi-story structure. The external environment includes ample parking, which is a significant convenience for guests traveling by car.

Services: Thoughtful Amenities for Every Guest

The hotel operates with a 24-hour front desk, ensuring that assistance is always available, a service highly praised by guests who note the staff's professionalism and customer-service orientation.

For dining, the hotel features the Courtyard Bistro, an on-site restaurant specializing in American cuisine. This bistro serves both breakfast and dinner, and guests have the option of enjoying a "paid breakfast" in the sit-down area. While some guests have found the breakfast to be on the pricier side, others appreciate the cleanliness and food quality. Additionally, a "cute little bar for drinks" and a dinner lounge provide relaxed options for guests who prefer not to venture out. Room service is also available during limited hours.

Recreational facilities include an indoor pool, which is a popular amenity, especially for families. While some reviews mention issues with the heated pool or TV, the pool area is generally described as clean and well-maintained. A fitness center is also available, providing guests with the opportunity to maintain their workout routines. The hotel also has a sauna for relaxation.

Business travelers are well catered for with a 24-hour business center and extensive meeting facilities. The hotel offers 11 meeting rooms and over 6,100 square feet of conference space, with the largest room capable of accommodating up to 450 people. Additional services include dry cleaning and laundry facilities, a car rental desk, and an ATM. For the convenience of guests, express check-in and check-out services are available. The hotel also provides free self-parking. A key aspect of the Courtyard Shelton's service is the staff's willingness to "go above and beyond to accommodate," as noted by several satisfied customers. While there might be occasional "employee errors" as with any establishment, the overall consensus points to a highly customer-oriented team.

Features: Comfort and Practicality in Guest Rooms

The Courtyard Shelton's 161 guest rooms are designed with comfort and practicality in mind. Rooms are described as spacious and well-appointed, featuring basic toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar of soap, and a makeup wipe). Each air-conditioned room includes a private bathroom, a flat-screen TV with premium channels (including Showtime and ESPN), a refrigerator, microwave, and a coffee/tea maker. Other amenities include a large, movable desk with an ergonomic chair, a speakerphone with voicemail, and high-speed internet access.

Guests can expect premium bedding and blackout drapes/curtains to ensure a restful sleep. The hotel offers various room configurations, including king rooms with sofa beds and queen rooms. For added comfort, free rollaway/extra beds and free cribs/infant beds are available upon request, which is beneficial for families. Connecting rooms are also an option. While one guest reported issues with the thermostat, the hotel staff typically addresses such concerns promptly. Some reviews have noted a lack of a shower mat, leading to slippery tiles, and occasional oversights in housekeeping services (e.g., garbage removal, coffee/cream replenishment). However, these seem to be isolated incidents, and the general cleanliness of rooms is positively reviewed.

The hotel is a smoke-free property and provides accessible room options for guests with mobility needs, featuring amenities like roll-in showers and grab bars (though some reviews mention a lack of grab bars in standard showers).

Promotional Information: A Recommended Choice for Local Users

The presence of an indoor pool and fitness center adds value, especially for those traveling with children or looking to maintain their wellness routines.

The overall sentiment from guests is highly positive, with many expressing an intention to "definitely recommend booking with them" and "will stay again." Always a pleasant experience staying here, the staff always goes above and beyond to accommodate. Chelsea in particular is always very helpful and prompt! The wedding room block process in particular was very stress free and easy to navigate! Would definitely recommend booking with them!

I very frequently stay at this class of hotel with my daughter for Soccer. And by very frequently, I mean at least 10 times a year for the past four years. This is by far the worst experience I have had in a hotel. That is not necessarily the fault of the hotel but something was off that I think needs to be addressed. I asked to be moved out of our first room because at 9:30 at night the room next to me clearly had younger children that were being completely unsupervised. Fine, that can happen. It’s the fault of the parents not the hotel. The hotel then moved me to the top floor. One would think this would help. It did not. From 9:30 until I finally called the front desk at 1:30 in the morning. The people below me were, for all intents and purposes, having a party. Now this might just be random luck, and I was put into two rooms that were loud. But I can say that overall it seemed like this hotel was more like a dorm room than a place that you were going to get a quiet night sleep. I don’t ask for much - this isn’t a luxury hotel. I ask for relative cleanliness and quiet. That’s it. Both can be controlled by staff. Relatively clean I got, but that was it.

worst customer service. i am a long time bonvoy member. first 2 nights were fine. 3rd night they put a bunch of teenagers in the room next to me. no adult. that’s when i learned there is no sound proofing. booming bass shaking the wall and my room reeked of weed at 10 pm. asked the front desk to move them so i could sleep. 11 pm no more music but loud shouting and yelling. midnight same. front desk phone didn’t answer. went down 3 times to ask they be moved. night manager was rude. never staying here again.

It’s “okay”. The HVAC system does not work very well or consistently. I know they are energy efficient but having a motion sensor to trigger the heat or AC is ridiculous especially when you are working the desk and have to move your arms to trigger it. And it’s LOUD. Lighting in bathroom and room is very dark. Shower head is loose and spins on the wall. It is also very low water pressure. Bed was firm, which is good…pillows horrible. Also allow us to enter the stairwells from the exterior with our keys or mobile phones so we can get steps in walking the stairwells. Gym weights not a full selection and needs more room so you can have two benches and room for a few people at a time when you have 7 floors.
