We were in town for the high school basketball playoffs. When our team won on Friday, I had to book a second night for the final game Saturday night. The hotel was pretty full but the woman (I wish I caught her name) at the front desk was able to get me that second night and we were able to stay in the same room. The pool was great. Breakfast was really good. Rooms were nice. Comfortable beds. The location is close to the arena, bars and restaurants. The only negatives? One elevator was out of service and we heard it has been like this for the last year. Long lines and slow getting to our room. We used the service elevator but at times it was just as busy. It would have been nice if there were more convenient outlets and USB ports for charging devices in the room. The parking was challenging as well because of the events going on there.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Binghamton Introduce

For local users searching for "Hotels Near Me" in the Binghamton, NY area, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Binghamton presents a prominent and centrally located option, especially for those seeking accommodations in the heart of the city. Located at 225 Water St, Binghamton, NY 13901, USA, this hotel is a well-known landmark, offering a blend of Hilton's renowned hospitality with a prime downtown setting. It caters to a wide range of travelers, from those attending local events to business visitors and leisure guests exploring the city's offerings.

Environment and Location

The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Binghamton boasts an enviable downtown location, directly on the waterfront of the Susquehanna River. This position provides guests with picturesque views and easy access to the city's vibrant core. Its proximity to major attractions is a significant advantage; it's a short walk to the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena, the Broome County Forum Theatre, and various local restaurants and bars. This makes it an ideal base for attendees of concerts, sporting events, or theater performances, as well as those looking to experience Binghamton's nightlife and culinary scene. Guests frequently commend its "great location" as being "close to the arena, bars, and restaurants." While its central location is a major plus, guests should be aware that during busy periods, especially when events are ongoing, parking can be "challenging." The hotel offers self-parking and valet parking, but it's advisable to factor in potential parking situations during peak times. The lobby and restaurant areas are generally well-regarded for their aesthetics and welcoming atmosphere.

Services and Amenities

As a Hilton-branded property, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Binghamton provides a comprehensive array of services and amenities designed to ensure a comfortable and convenient stay. Guests are greeted with the brand's signature warm chocolate chip cookie upon arrival, a small touch that leaves a lasting positive impression. The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk, with staff often highlighted for their professionalism and helpfulness, as evidenced by a reviewer praising the front desk woman who managed to secure a second night's stay during a busy period. Complimentary high-speed wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel, allowing guests to stay connected. For recreation and relaxation, the hotel features an indoor heated pool, which guests describe as "great," and a fitness center. Business travelers benefit from a dedicated business center, meeting rooms, and extensive event facilities, including over 16,000 sq ft of event space capable of accommodating up to 1,000 guests across 15 versatile rooms. This makes it a popular venue for conferences, corporate events, and social gatherings, including company holiday parties, as noted by a reviewer who praised the staff at such an event. Other services include dry cleaning, laundry service, an ATM, and a concierge desk. Pet-friendly rooms are available, allowing guests to travel with their furry companions, although additional fees may apply. Safety features include hand sanitizer, daily disinfection of common areas, and physical distancing measures. However, a recurring negative mentioned by guests is the issue with elevators, specifically one being out of service for an extended period, leading to "long lines and slow getting to our room." This is a significant point for consideration, particularly during busy times.

Features of the Hotel

The hotel comprises 207 rooms, each designed to provide a comfortable stay. Key room features include a flat-screen TV with premium channels, a work desk, coffee/tea maker, and a mini-refrigerator. Guests generally find the beds "comfortable." While streaming apps on TVs are appreciated, some reviews point out that the rooms, despite having undergone renovations, show signs of "cheap reno" with issues like peeling enamel in showers and worn carpets. The bathrooms are also described as "very dark," and there's a noted lack of "convenient outlets and USB ports for charging devices." This feedback suggests that while the rooms offer essential amenities, some aspects of their upkeep or design might not fully align with the expectations for a higher-tier hotel. Nevertheless, the presence of various room types, including those with river views, provides options for different preferences. Accessibility features are also in place, with facilities for guests with disabilities.

Dining and Breakfast

The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Binghamton offers on-site dining options. The hotel's restaurant, Riverwalk, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring American cuisine with local flavors. Breakfast, in particular, receives positive remarks, with one guest stating it was "really good." There is also a lounge, The Water Street Brewing Co., offering a relaxed atmosphere for drinks and light fare. The convenience of having multiple dining options within the hotel is a significant benefit for guests, especially after a long day of travel or activities in the city. Room service is also available for those who prefer to dine in the comfort of their room.

Promotional Information and Value

As a Hilton property, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Binghamton participates in the Hilton Honors loyalty program, allowing guests to earn points for stays that can be redeemed for free nights, experiences, and more. Hilton Honors members often gain access to exclusive rates and benefits. The hotel frequently runs promotions, including discounted rates for advanced bookings, longer stays, or packages that include breakfast or other amenities. Special rates may also be available for AARP and AAA members, as well as government and military personnel. Booking directly through Hilton's official channels is recommended to ensure the best available rates and to take advantage of loyalty program benefits. While some guests have reservations about the "worn down" state of the rooms and the elevator issues, the hotel's strong points — its prime location, generally good service, and range of amenities like the pool and on-site dining — often balance these concerns. For local users looking for a well-located hotel in downtown Binghamton with reliable Hilton standards and a warm welcome, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Binghamton remains a viable option, particularly if event proximity is a key factor.

The rooms had obviously had a very cheap reno done at some point (very typical of any Hilton brand). The enamel was peeling in the shower because they cheaply refinished it. They attempted to hide it with a disgusting non slip mat. The bathroom was also very dark. The carpet was worn. This was true in two different rooms I stayed in. The TVs had streaming apps so I did appreciate that. The lobby and restaurant were nice. My company holiday party was held there and all of the staff were amazing. Everyone was kind. However, I could not recommend this place due to how worn down the rooms are. If this qualifies as a 4 star hotel, we should reevaluate how we rate hotels.

Great location. Room was nice. Front desk people were good. Pool and spa was Great until the next morning an older man was throwing liquid chemical in the spa just missing my GF. We complained to Both Gym staff and hotel staff and were told sorry they don’t work for us. Asked for call from Gym manager and Hotel Manager and never received. This was several times. If you get breakfast get the buffet, side orders came out with hard eggs and burnt toast. We really liked the hotel minus the issues

We stayed here for my birthday and family trip to visit Binghamton University since my son will be attending this Fall and brought our little ones with us. Since it was off peak the front desk was very accommodating with our request, high floor, near the elevator, and river view. Thank you! The downfall is the lady at the pool, she is NOT welcoming at all, she talks with a condescending tone. We did not mind in the beginning and smiled it off, she then realizes my kids go to the lapping area of the pool where no one was reserved to use at the moment, she talks to them again in a tone which I had to tell her there is no need to make it tense as my kids listen, my daughter was scared of her and I had to tell her to please tone it down, I can have them listen and we are on vacation. She continues to say this is not a hotel pool etc. I just feel if you are in customer service, at least make the effort to make the guests happy and comfortable. For my kids I tried to keep my cool but deep inside it ruined the night. I never hope anyone to lose their job but Hilton will lose guests if she doesn't learn how to give a good experience. It's a tough economy and staycations aren't cheap- doesn't hurt to be kind. We will probably look around the other hotels when we do our visits.

The smoke detector went off for no reason around 11pm and we had our rooms heat stop working around midnight, which required a repair, so the first night wasn't the most relaxing. The hotel itself is great though and we really liked our stay. The issues we had obviously aren't common, just an annoyance.
