We booked this hidden gem last minute on a vacation to Maine. The rooms were very clean, the staff were kind, and it was such a beautiful view. They have lawn chairs and a fire pit, and each cottage has a balcony. It's not very private as each cottage is about 20ft from one another, but we didn't mind at all. The main road has a sidewalk and we were able to bike into Camden. We will definitely book again on our next vacation!

The distinctive charm of Drift Oceanside Inn lies in its unique collection of cottages, many of which are perched directly above the ocean, offering incredible, sweeping views of the bay. These individual cottages provide a cozy and intimate lodging experience, reminiscent of a classic drive-up motel from the 1940s, a legacy the current owners, the Reynolds family, respectfully carry forward. While the cottages offer a sense of individual space, it's worth noting, as one guest mentioned, that they are situated approximately 20 feet from one another, offering a comfortable, yet not entirely secluded, arrangement. The emphasis here is on the "quintessential Maine experience" – a chance to slow down, enjoy the natural surroundings, and embrace a simpler pace of life. Guests consistently praise the spaciousness of units like Cabin #8, which also boasted a large, clean bathroom. Beds are generally described as comfy, though some found the beds in rooms with two beds to be a bit small. The unique location means guests can enjoy the feeling of being on a boat as the tide laps at the nearby shore. The inn operates seasonally, typically opening from mid-May to mid-October, with the fall, winter, and spring months dedicated to renovations and improvements. This commitment ensures that while the inn retains its historic spirit, it also evolves to provide modern comfort.
Drift Oceanside Inn is actively promoting its unique appeal as a direct oceanfront property in Camden, Maine. Mar 10, 2025 · Madisen HyattThe views of the ocean...excellent! Cabin #8 was spacious, clean, and had a large bathroom. Beds were comfy, but a bit small in the room with two beds. Price was good for the location. My only problem was the A/C did not work, shut off after 1 minute no matter what the room temp was. I brought this up to the front desk, but no follow up was noted. Luckily, the day was not too warm.
Sep 27, 2024 · DerekI almost want to give this place a one star review so that no one else finds it. But seriously, this is a beautiful spot with nice, clean cabins, and views that can’t be beat. We stayed in Cabin 12 and absolutely loved everything. Watching the sun rise with a cup of coffee on the deck was the best way to start our day. We will definitely come back.
Oct 13, 2024 · Stacy ClarkOne of our favorite places to stay in all of Maine. My wife and I love the property and enjoyed the city of Camden. This is a must stay.
Feb 01, 2025 · Chuck HarrisWe kind of wish our whole Maine trip was staying here! Booking was easy and I appreciated the email reservation reminder as well as the ability to get my check-in receipt via email. (I hate paperwork.) The young lady who checked us in was so nice and friendly (and patient with our question-asking kiddo.) The cabin was so charming and comfortable. A small kitchenette, decent size fridge, and rack to hang clothing. My tween was thrilled with Netflix and corn hole, as well as a playground while my husband and I sat on the little porch watching the water. While this fulfilled all my tiny-home fantasies, the only downside I can see for some people would be the tiny bathroom. Might be a challenge with lots of little kids or larger, bigger boned individuals. Drift Oceanside Inn is a short drive from downtown Camden and right near Camden Hills State Park.
