5 stars is not enough for Driftwood Ranch! Since buying a vacation home in Damascus, PA, I have been to Driftwood taking riding lessons from the fabulous Mona and Mark every other weekend. However, this past weekend we had the pleasure of staying on the ranch with friends in one of the guest suites. We felt so taken care of the instant we got on the property! Steve and Anne are the most incredible hosts and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay, including coordinating dinners with Chef Craig, riding with Mona and Mark, visiting Mona’s leather shop, and feeding the longhorns. The suite we stayed in was impeccably and beautifully designed and was the perfect, comfortable haven for our girls weekend. Nothing beat winding down our evenings with a glass of wine by the fireplace! A big thank you to Steve, Anne, Mark and Mona for your hospitality and sharing your slice of heaven with us! We can’t wait to come stay again in the summer!

Driftwood Ranch Introduce

Positioned as a truly unique destination within the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, Driftwood Ranch offers far more than a typical hotel stay; it provides an immersive, authentic Western resort experience nestled in the heart of the Catskill Mountains. Located at 49 Kilcoin Rd, White Lake, NY 12786, USA, and accessible by phone at (845) 798-6649 or +1 845-798-6649, Driftwood Ranch is a working horse and cattle ranch spanning over 200 scenic acres. It is designed for those seeking a blend of rustic charm, elegant comfort, and hands-on engagement with ranch life, all complemented by exceptional personalized service from its dedicated hosts, Steve and Anne, along with riding instructors Mona and Mark.

Environment and Location

Driftwood Ranch is situated in White Lake, a serene area within Sullivan County, New York, approximately 90 minutes from New York City. The property itself is a picturesque expanse of "mountains, rolling meadows, and sparkling streams," offering breathtaking natural beauty. Guests can experience an authentic ranch environment, complete with the sight of Texas Longhorn cattle grazing in the fields, often visible directly from the guest suites. This connection to a genuine working ranch sets Driftwood apart, inviting guests to witness and even participate in daily ranch activities. The property is described as having "rolling hills with lush pastures and stately trees," and features a gated main entrance with a waterfall, leading to a long paved private road that winds through the picturesque landscape. Abundant wildlife, including bald eagles, white-tail deer, red fox, and wild turkeys, roam the beautiful working ranch, enhancing the natural immersion.

The strategic location in White Lake provides convenient access to a variety of Catskills attractions. It is notably close to the iconic Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the historic site of the 1969 Woodstock festival, making it an ideal choice for concert-goers or those interested in cultural history. Bethel Woods is approximately a 9-10 minute drive (8.5 - 9.6 km) away. Other nearby points of interest include Black Lake (a short 1-minute drive or 14-minute walk, 0.8-1.2 km away), Indian Field Pond, Lake Superior State Park, and various golf courses like Sullivan County Golf and Country Club. For more vibrant entertainment, Resorts World Catskills Casino (approximately 23.0 - 24.9 km away) and the Monticello Casino and Raceway (approximately 14.5 - 16.8 km away) are within a reasonable driving distance. The blend of tranquil ranch life with accessibility to entertainment and natural wonders makes Driftwood Ranch a versatile destination for diverse travel preferences.

Services and Amenities

Driftwood Ranch prides itself on delivering a high-end, personalized resort experience. The accommodation consists of four "beautifully designed suites": the Longhorn Suite, Cattle Drive Suite, Western Barn Suite, and The Museum Suite. These guest suites are described as "impeccably and beautifully designed," offering luxurious comforts like fireplaces and air conditioning, smart TVs, desks, and high-quality bed sheets. Each suite has unique touches; for instance, the Longhorn Suite looks out over fields of Texas Longhorns and features a king-size bed made from white birch, while the Museum Suite includes decor from the Rochester Museum of Science and Nature. The Western Barn Suite features hand-hewn posts and beams, stone, and wood, with custom-made furniture from original barn stall boards, and includes a private office space, dining, and sitting areas. Bathrooms are well-appointed with showers, bidets, and fresh towels. The Cattle Drive Suite is a spacious two-story suite featuring a hand-carved Cattle Drive sculpture.

A significant highlight of Driftwood Ranch's offering is its all-inclusive package options, which emphasize a truly taken-care-of experience. These packages often include:

  • Chef-Prepared Meals: Guests can enjoy delicious chef-prepared breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, crafted to delight and fuel their adventures. Reviews mention coordination of dinners with "Chef Craig," indicating a high culinary standard and convenience. Complimentary breakfast is consistently mentioned as included with the suites.
  • Horseback Riding: Riding lessons and trail rides with experienced instructors (like Mona and Mark) are a key draw, catering to both seasoned riders and beginners. Guests can "explore scenic trails on horseback." Mark Kreutziger is an exceptional horse trainer, and Mona has a notable history in barrel racing and as one of the first women jockeys.
  • Authentic Ranch Activities: Guests are invited to "immerse yourself in the authentic daily life of a genuine working horse and cattle ranch." This includes observing and capturing photographs of routine activities such as feeding the cattle, grooming horses, conducting daily exercises for horses, training young horses in the round pen, and watching cowboys hone their rodeo skills. Guests are welcome to explore the ranch, visit the barns, fish the ponds, and hike the private trails on the extensive property. For safety, entry into fields with longhorns and horses requires staff accompaniment.
  • Personalized Hosting: The hosts, Steve and Anne (owners), along with Mona and Mark (riding instructors), are consistently praised for their "incredible hospitality" and for making guests "feel so taken care of." They are noted for coordinating various aspects of the stay, from dinners to riding sessions and even unique experiences like visiting Mona’s leather shop or feeding the longhorns. This level of personal attention significantly elevates the guest experience, making guests "feel like home."

Additional amenities and services noted across various sources include:

  • Complimentary high-speed WiFi, noted as being reliable and fast.
  • Complimentary onsite self-parking.
  • Smoke-free property.
  • Some suites feature private office spaces, dining areas, and sitting areas, catering to both leisure and business needs.
  • Safety features including carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors.
The emphasis is on creating a bespoke, comfortable, and engaging stay that blends the rugged appeal of a ranch with the refined comforts of a luxury resort, all within a pet-free environment (pets are not allowed for guests).

Features and Distinctions

Driftwood Ranch is truly a standout establishment, earning accolades as the "Best kept secret of Sullivan County" by appreciative guests. Its core distinction lies in being an "authentic working horse and cattle ranch," which offers a rare opportunity to directly engage with ranch life, rather than merely observe it. This hands-on element, coupled with the "impeccably and beautifully designed" guest suites, creates a luxurious yet rustic ambiance. The suites themselves are often themed, paying tribute to cowboy character and code, and feature handcrafted furniture made from original barn stall boards, hand-hewn posts and beams, New Zealand wool rugs, and Western-inspired textiles.

The personalized and warm hospitality from the owners and staff (Steve, Anne, Mona, and Mark) is consistently highlighted as a defining feature, making guests "feel like home" and contributing to an "exceptional" stay. This high level of service differentiates Driftwood Ranch from larger, more impersonal resorts. The intimate setting, with a limited number of guest suites, allows for this highly attentive approach. The presence of fireplaces in the suites adds to the cozy and luxurious atmosphere, perfect for "winding down our evenings with a glass of wine." The ranch's natural beauty, including "breathtaking views of our Texas Longhorns," provides a unique backdrop for relaxation and activities. It also serves as a venue for corporate retreats, suggesting its suitability for both leisure and professional gatherings. Steve Dubrovsky, the owner, is a three-time Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association circuit champion and an architect, which speaks to the authentic design and experience offered at the ranch.

Promotional Information and Value

Driftwood Ranch's primary promotional strength comes from its overwhelmingly positive customer reviews, often receiving 5-star ratings and described as "Exceptional" (10.0 out of 10) on various booking platforms like Expedia and Vrbo. The word-of-mouth and testimonials highlighting the "incredible hosts," "fabulous" riding lessons, and "beautifully designed" accommodations are powerful endorsements. The property's unique concept as a luxury working ranch in the Catskills is inherently appealing to a niche market seeking distinctive experiences. Its listing on "Hotels Near Of Me" ensures visibility to local users seeking unique accommodation options in the White Lake area.

While specific daily rates for individual suites vary, with some listed around $1,000 to $1,500 per night depending on the suite and booking platform, Driftwood Ranch emphasizes its all-inclusive package options, offering a comprehensive experience. For instance, a 2-night all-inclusive stay for two could be around $2,500, with options for longer stays and single occupancy. These packages, available for the Longhorn, Western Barn, and Museum Suites (with the Cattle Drive Suite potentially incurring an additional charge), often include all meals and various ranch activities. Guests can also benefit from exclusive savings when friends book a second package. This pricing structure suggests a premium, luxury experience where the value is derived from the personalized services, exclusive activities, and the unique setting of a working ranch. The opportunity to participate in ranch activities, receive riding lessons, and enjoy chef-prepared meals within such a beautiful and intimate setting offers significant value for those seeking a truly memorable and pampered escape. Guests are encouraged to contact the ranch directly via phone at (845) 798-6649 or +1 845-798-6649 to inquire about current package details, availability, and to coordinate their customized stay, as direct communication often leads to the best arrangements for such a specialized resort.

Best kept secret of Sullivan County. Incredible property with beautifully designed suites but the people are what make Driftwood Ranch stand apart. Steve, Anne, Mona and Mark make Driftwood feel like home! Thank you for your hospitality - we can’t wait to come back!

Been here twice now and can’t recommend it enough! We stayed on the property this past weekend and it was absolutely perfect. The cabin we stayed in was cozy and relaxing (comfortable for 5 people), followed up with amazing food from Chef Craig! The highlight of the weekend was of course riding horses Saturday afternoon and feeding the longhorns treats. Can’t wait to come back in the summer!
