I got in pretty late and was honestly just hoping for a smooth check-in and some rest. The guy at the front desk was great — really friendly and made the whole process quick and easy. You don’t always get that kind of attitude late at night, so it stood out. The room was clean, bed was comfy, and everything was quiet, which is all I really needed. Simple, no fuss, and solid service — would definitely stop here again if I’m in the area.

This address places it strategically in East Knoxville, just off Interstate 40 (I-40) at Exit 398 (Strawberry Plains Pike). Its position on Strawberry Plains Pike means that while it’s very accessible from the interstate, it's also situated amidst various local amenities. It offers a straightforward route to downtown Knoxville, with its vibrant Market Square, historic Old City, and attractions like the Knoxville Convention Center, the University of Tennessee campus, Neyland Stadium, and Thompson-Boling Arena. While not directly in the heart of downtown, the easy highway access means you can reach these popular spots within a reasonable drive.
Furthermore, the location provides a convenient jumping-off point for exploring other popular East Tennessee destinations. Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park are all accessible via I-40, typically within an hour's drive, making it a practical base for combining city visits with mountain adventures.
Based on typical Econo Lodge brand standards and information available from various sources, Econo Lodge Inn & Suites East generally offers a range of services designed for an affordable and functional stay. However, it's important to cross-reference these with recent guest experiences, as service delivery can vary. Expected services include:
While some sources indicate a "complimentary breakfast," one recent review strongly suggests that the breakfast offering is minimal, consisting only of poor-quality coffee with "no food, juice, etc." This highlights a potential discrepancy between advertised services and current offerings that guests should be aware of.
The features and highlights of Econo Lodge Inn & Suites East, as observed through public information and guest reviews, present a mixed picture. It's important to consider both the intended features and the actual guest experiences:
However, it is crucial for potential guests to be aware of significant concerns raised in other recent reviews, which paint a very different picture of certain features:
Econo Lodge, as part of the Choice Hotels family, frequently participates in system-wide promotions and special offers designed to provide value to guests. While specific deals for Econo Lodge Inn & Suites East would need to be confirmed directly, Tennessee locals looking for savings can generally look for the following types of promotions:
To ensure you're accessing the best possible rates and any current promotions for your specific travel dates, it is highly recommended to visit the official Choice Hotels website (choicehotels.com) and search for Econo Lodge Inn & Suites East directly, or to call the hotel using the contact information provided. For direct inquiries, reservations, or to confirm any details about your stay at Econo Lodge Inn & Suites East, you can use the following contact information:
Given the mixed nature of the reviews, it would be particularly advisable to call the hotel directly if you have specific concerns regarding the availability of amenities like microwaves or coffee makers, or if you wish to clarify policies related to deposits (if any apply) or check-out procedures. Speaking directly with the front desk can help set clear expectations before your arrival.
For Tennessee locals, the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites East in Knoxville presents itself as a highly convenient option primarily due to its strategic location right off I-40 on Strawberry Plains Pike. For those needing a quick, affordable stopover during a long drive, or a budget-friendly base for accessing Knoxville's various attractions without getting deep into city traffic, its accessibility is a significant advantage. The positive feedback highlighting a friendly and efficient front desk staff, especially for late-night check-ins, suggests that initial impressions can be quite good for a no-fuss experience.
However, it is absolutely paramount for locals to be fully aware of the significantly negative and detailed review regarding cleanliness, bed comfort, amenities (lack of blankets, coffee makers, and microwave despite typical offerings), the quality of the breakfast, and specific issues with check-out interactions and quoted rates. These concerns represent a substantial divergence from what might be expected, even at a budget-friendly hotel. While one guest found it "clean" and "comfy," another had a "disgusting" experience with "scum" in the tub, a "hard bed" causing pain, and no blanket.
Therefore, while its location serves a practical purpose for certain travel needs, locals considering this Econo Lodge should proceed with considerable caution and manage their expectations accordingly. If affordability and immediate highway access are your sole priorities, and you are prepared for the possibility of encountering the issues raised by the more critical reviews, it might be a viable choice. However, if consistent cleanliness, comfortable bedding, reliable amenities (like a decent breakfast or in-room coffee), and professional customer service are essential for your comfort, it would be prudent to either call the hotel directly to confirm specific conditions or explore alternative lodging options in the Knoxville area that might offer a more consistent and reliable guest experience.

Apr 18, 2025 · sandy mI stayed there 6 years ago. Every thing was pleasant enough. Spent a night there two days ago. Was going to stay a week. After I checked in I ask about a microwave. They said they took them out because of theft!!! So I asked for a coffee maker. No, they don't have any! They said there would be coffee and complimentary breakfast. It consisted of burnt tasting coffee that had set out all night. No food, juice, etc. that was 2 nights ago and my back is still hurting so bad from the hard bed. No blanket even! The tub was scum, but took a shower after wiping it out as good as I could. When getting out of the shower I saw something in the tub. Looked like a piece of tissue. So I picked it up it was some slimy. When I checked out my ride was running late so I was then told I had to leave there property to wait! I will never ever go there and I want anyone to know that if you're thinking about don't go there. Rates were not what they quoted me on the phone. I could have stayed somewhere cheaper and got a lot better service. I mean come on now. I'm still taking ibuprofen for my back!!

Feb 06, 2025 · Shannon Mashburnthe front desk guy was really really nice, he switched my room with almost no issue at all. the hotel just seems to need a makeover. the walls had stains, and there was black mold on the ceiling where the toilet is. i get it's a budget hotel, but cleanliness and comfort for your guests should be priority.
Mar 24, 2025 · Scott TomaszewskiI am a part of the choice rewards program as I travel and book hotels almost every day. I was in desperate need of a hotel last night so I decided to stop in here to try and stay the night. I wasn’t able to arrive until almost 4am . For some reason the price was increased at arrival on top of that I was not givin the extra 2 hours of check out we requested as a part of our rewards benefit. The neighbors been blasting the tv since 7 am. With the access door in my room it feels like it’s next to my face . I only slept 6 hrs here and they have the audacity to tell me I have to be out by 11am the staff was highly rude on top of being absolutely disgusting of a place I wouldn’t recommend at all. Very unreasonable I stay at hotels all over the country as a part of my job. And I wouldn’t recommend them as they have been one of the worst.
