We started staying here about a year ago because it’s centralized for our business and the rates were great. The old GM was amazing went above and beyond her duties helping guests picking up where her staff failed or needed an extra hand. Now let’s fast forward a week ago new GM enters who is apparently staying here 🙄 she was notified of dog feces on the 3rd floor in the hallway at 8 pm said she would take care of it at 1 am it was still there! The fire alarm went off at 3:34 am everyone came out of there room about half the people congregated into the lobby instead of exited the building nothing was said to them as those who were outside were waiting for the elevator to go back to their rooms the overnight ”gentleman“ screamed we all needed to get in our rooms instead of standing in the lobby once we spoke up and told him we were waiting for the elevator he turned and said theirs stairs. Oh and the GM who’s staying here never came out of her room! Asked to get rekeyed because my keys weren’t working when I got back from work and was asked my name and room number by a new guy 4 times the new GM came outta the office and shoved him to the side took the tablet and asked for my information 4 more times once I asked if she wanted my license she gave me a RBF and said nope he can now rekey you. Now let’s talk about rates we’ve paid the same monthly amount for months never ask for a thing from the desk no dishes no linen and never even a maid service nothing now all of a sudden our rates TRIPLE! When you ask the GM she states if you don’t like it leave! She’s rude and nasty and looks down on everyone here! Her hospitality sucks her staff is just as rude! oh and let’s talk about the worst thing she’s done in a week is walked into a guests room using her master key while they were bathing their children to tell them to quiet down never knocked just used her key like she had the right to enter any occupied room!
As a dedicated establishment within the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform category, Extended Stay America - Syracuse - Dewitt aims to provide a practical and cost-effective solution for individuals or families requiring longer-term accommodation in the East Syracuse area. Located at 6630 Old Collamer Rd, East Syracuse, NY 13057, USA, this hotel is positioned to serve guests whose business or personal needs necessitate an extended stay, offering features that cater specifically to their unique requirements.
The environment of Extended Stay America - Syracuse - Dewitt is primarily geared towards functionality for long-term living. Its location on Old Collamer Road places it in East Syracuse, an area that provides access to various local businesses, corporate offices, and potentially major roadways, making it a convenient base for those working or conducting business in the region. The hotel is also designed to be pet-friendly, which contributes to an accommodating environment for guests traveling with their animals. This aspect is crucial for many extended-stay travelers who view their pets as family. However, recent guest feedback suggests significant challenges regarding the maintenance and management of the hotel's environment. Reports indicate issues such as pet waste in common areas (e.g., dog feces in hallways remaining for extended periods), suggesting a lapse in cleanliness protocols. Furthermore, the overall cleanliness of rooms has been a concern, with mentions of dirty floors and malfunctioning furniture (e.g., dresser drawers popping open). The presence of strong marijuana odors, despite the hotel supposedly being smoke-free, also impacts the perceived comfort and safety of the environment. These issues point to an environment that, while designed for extended stays, sometimes falls short in its execution of basic upkeep and enforcement of policies, leading to a less pleasant experience for some guests.
When it comes to services, Extended Stay America - Syracuse - Dewitt aims to provide amenities suitable for longer durations. A core service offered by Extended Stay America properties is the provision of in-room kitchens, allowing guests the flexibility to prepare their own meals, which is invaluable for extended stays and helps manage costs. The hotel is also pet-friendly, which, as mentioned, is a service that accommodates guests with animals. However, the quality and consistency of direct customer service have been a significant area of concern for recent guests. While previous management was praised for going "above and beyond," current staff and particularly new management have received extremely negative feedback. Reports include staff being "rude and nasty," displaying a lack of professionalism, and exhibiting poor "hospitality." Specific instances cited include unhelpful responses to maintenance issues (e.g., fire alarm incidents), rude interactions during key re-issuance, and even an alleged incident of a manager entering an occupied guest room without knocking to address noise complaints. These service failures suggest a breakdown in basic customer respect and operational efficiency, significantly impacting the guest experience. Issues like unexplained tripling of rates for long-term guests who previously received consistent pricing, coupled with a dismissive attitude when questioned, further compound these service challenges. The alleged lack of action on policy enforcement, such as addressing illicit smoking, also points to gaps in service delivery.
The features of Extended Stay America - Syracuse - Dewitt are designed to support self-sufficiency for extended visits. The most prominent feature is the inclusion of in-room kitchens, typically equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and stovetop, enabling guests to cook their own meals. This feature is fundamental to the extended-stay model. The hotel's pet-friendly policy is another key feature, making it accessible to a broader range of travelers. Its location in East Syracuse provides convenient access to local businesses and major routes, which is a practical feature for those on long assignments or transitions. However, the functionality and maintenance of certain in-room features have been a point of contention. Problems such as dresser drawers that "kept popping open" indicate issues with furniture quality or upkeep. While the hotel aims to provide a comfortable long-term base, the negative experiences related to cleanliness, unaddressed maintenance issues (like pet waste in common areas), and the presence of strong odors suggest that the execution of these features is not consistently up to standard. The alleged behavior of management, such as unauthorized room entry, points to a severe breach of guest privacy and hotel policy, which is a significant negative feature impacting guest trust and security.
From a promotional standpoint, Extended Stay America - Syracuse - Dewitt would typically highlight its value for long-term stays, the convenience of in-room kitchens, and its pet-friendly policy. As part of the Extended Stay America brand, it likely offers competitive weekly and monthly rates, appealing to corporate travelers, relocations, or those needing temporary housing. The "Hotels Near Of Me" category would emphasize its accessibility within the East Syracuse area for local users. Guests can typically find booking information and contact the hotel at (315) 463-1958 or +1 315-463-1958 to inquire about specific rates and extended stay packages. However, it is crucial for potential guests to be aware of the recent and highly critical customer feedback. While the concept of an extended-stay hotel with kitchenettes and pet-friendliness is appealing, the recurrent themes of poor staff conduct, cleanliness issues, unaddressed maintenance, and questionable management practices should be seriously considered. Promotional materials would naturally focus on the positive aspects, but an objective assessment based on recent reviews suggests that potential guests should manage their expectations regarding service quality and the overall environment. For those prioritizing an affordable, self-sufficient, long-term option in East Syracuse and are willing to overlook potential service and cleanliness issues, this Extended Stay America might be a consideration, but it's vital to proceed with caution.

Apr 29, 2025 · Mistyblue DeckerVery rude staff especially a clerk who shouldn't be working there if they are allergic to pets. This is a, "Pet Friendly Hotel" and the workers are supposed to be treating the guests with respect. Also forgot to mention that the room wasn't very clean especially on the room floor. The dresser drawers where the TV sits on kept popping open. There's also a lot of strong smell of marijuana and the business is supposed to be smoke free and the staff need to crack down on the ones that are getting away with the illegal smoking of marijuana.
Apr 29, 2025 · Carl FranksI stayed just one night. The room could have been a little cleaner. The booking said the kitchen had everything needed to cook but was completely empty, no dishes or utensils at all. We were told breakfast was from 6-9:30am. When we came to eat at 8 am, there was nothing at all. Just coffee. We were told they had ran out of food so they had not even made breakfast that day. Don’t waste your money.
Feb 04, 2025 · Natisha AwadExtremely dirty and a constant smell of smoke coming into my room from the hallway. I was only staying one night but I chose this type of hotel because I wanted an opportunity to cook myself a dinner and have some food in the cooler for the rest of my trip. The kitchen was so dirty, including food cooked on the burner, that I didn't even bother. The draft coming through the windows meant I needed to constantly run the heater but that was not a bad idea anyway because it drowned out the sound of the barking dogs people had at the hotel with them. I slept and got out in the morning ASAP, avoiding the tub so grimy you could chip dirt off, and as others have said the 'breakfast' was just brewed coffee and a basket of cereal bars in the lobby.
