Listen to the other reviews and don’t bother staying here. Room was gross and had obviously not been cleaned. The sheets had stains and were full of little pieces of glitter. Bathroom had not been cleaned as evident by the attached photos and the empty box of tissues. Place also felt off and we did not feel safe in our room.
For individuals searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the East Syracuse, NY area, the Home Town Inn by Red Roof East Syracuse, located at 6611 Old Collamer Rd S, East Syracuse, NY 13057, USA, may appear as a budget-friendly option. The hotel can be contacted at (315) 432-9333 or +1 315-432-9333. However, based on an overwhelming consensus from recent customer reviews, prospective guests are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and manage their expectations very significantly. The information available points to pervasive and severe issues that affect nearly every aspect of the guest experience.
The environment of Home Town Inn by Red Roof East Syracuse is consistently described in highly negative terms by recent guests. Multiple reviews state that rooms were "gross" and "obviously had not been cleaned," with specific complaints about "stains" on sheets, "glitter" on surfaces, and bathrooms that were "not cleaned" with "empty box of tissues." This fundamental lack of cleanliness extends to the exterior, with reports of "trash littering the sidewalks." Beyond the visible dirtiness, the atmosphere itself is unsettling. Guests have noted a "strong tobacco smell unsuccessfully covered with a chemical smell," and a general feeling that the "place also felt off," leading to a sense of not feeling "safe in our room." The presence of "seedy-looking characters hanging around the lobby and parking lots" contributed to a perception more akin to a "drug emporium or a rehab facility than a hotel." Furthermore, the environment is affected by "very loud highway noise," detracting from any possibility of a peaceful stay. While the hotel is undergoing some remodeling, with some rooms potentially in better condition, the overall public feedback suggests a deeply problematic and unpleasant environment.
Regarding services, while some online descriptions might list standard amenities such as a 24-hour front desk, a business center, and free Wi-Fi, the actual delivery of these services, and the overall customer experience, appears to be severely lacking. Guests have reported instances of "no maid service" and "no phones in the rooms" (or non-working phones), indicating a failure in basic room servicing and internal communication. The general sentiment about customer interaction, despite some acknowledging the front desk staff being "quite polite given the stress they must be under," is overwhelmingly negative due to the persistent issues guests face. The sheer volume of "guest after guest complaining" highlights a systemic problem with service delivery and problem resolution. The hotel's website may advertise amenities such as a fitness center, a hair salon, and dry cleaning/laundry services, and some rooms may offer microwaves and refrigerators. However, the critical reviews suggest that even if these facilities exist, the overall poor condition of the property and the severe issues with cleanliness and safety overshadow any potential benefit from these services. The inability to deliver on fundamental promises, like a clean room, indicates a significant gap between advertised services and the actual guest experience.
The features of Home Town Inn by Red Roof East Syracuse, despite being part of a recognizable chain, are reported to be in a state of disrepair or non-functionality. Essential in-room features are compromised; for instance, a "hair dryer with its wire severed and hanging loose" points to significant maintenance failures and potential safety hazards. The pervasive issues with cleanliness extend to the very fabric of the rooms, rendering features like beds and bathrooms unappealing due to stains and lack of sanitization. While standard room amenities like flat-screen TVs with premium channels, microwaves, and refrigerators are advertised for many rooms, the overall condition described by guests (e.g., "gross" rooms, "musty" smells, structural issues like poor cleaning) casts doubt on the usability and comfort of these features. The presence of noise from the highway further diminishes the quality of features meant for rest and relaxation. Though listed amenities include free Wi-Fi, a fitness facility, and a business center, the overwhelming negative feedback on basic room conditions suggests that these larger property features may not compensate for the significant in-room deficiencies. Accessibility features are noted to be present, such as wheelchair-accessible rooms and parking, which is a positive, but this does not offset the pervasive issues affecting general guest comfort and safety.
From a promotional standpoint, Home Town Inn by Red Roof East Syracuse faces a significant challenge due to the overwhelmingly negative public feedback. While the Red Roof brand generally aims to convey affordability and basic comfort, the reviews for this specific location contradict such an image. The pricing strategy, described as "eye-watering prices given the low quality," suggests that the hotel may exploit periods of high demand, such as university graduations, despite its poor condition. This exploitative pricing, coupled with the myriad of issues, actively undermines any positive promotional messaging. There are no readily apparent special offers or loyalty programs mentioned in the provided reviews that would entice guests to overlook the severe drawbacks. The most prominent "promotional" aspect of this hotel, ironically, becomes the collective warning from past guests to "DO NOT STAY HERE!" Any marketing efforts by the hotel would need to contend with a strong reputation for uncleanliness, safety concerns, and an overall unpleasant environment. For local users searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" and considering this option, it is paramount to be aware that while the price might sometimes appear low, the value proposition is severely questioned by numerous very dissatisfied customers. Direct contact at (315) 432-9333 or +1 315-432-9333 would allow one to inquire about current rates, but one must approach this with full awareness of the significant risks described by prior guests.

May 16, 2025 · Ben MazinAmong the worst hotels I've stayed in. Filthy rooms and exterior (trash littering the sidewalks), strong tobacco smell unsuccessfully covered with a chemical smell, the hair dryer with its wire severed and hanging loose, very loud highway noise. Seedy-looking characters hanging around the lobby and parking lots--more the feel of a drug emporium or a rehab facility than a hotel. (I did NOT see any drug dealing; I'm just describing the cast of characters.) They charged eye-watering prices given the low quality--exploiting the local university graduation and the scarcity of rooms--truly exploitative. The front desk staff were quite polite given the stress they must be under; I saw guest after guest complaining, sometimes abusively (but it was easy to understand their frustration). Overall, a true loser.
May 13, 2025 · Howard FrumkinThis was truly the worst place I have ever stayed in. And it was not cheap for us. It was $250 for one night. Im demanding a refund first thing tomorrow morning. There was a cockroach in the room and the entire room smelled like cigarettes. It was so strong and the smell did not go away. I don’t understand why they would allow people to smoke cigarettes inside. They don’t let it air out or fix the policy. The entire place smells like cigarettes from the moment you walk in, even the lobby. I feel like people come here to do drugs and illegal activities. There is dust everywhere and in every corner of the room is dirt and paint. I would not recommend this place for my worst enemy. Also, the ice machine was broken. Bed uncomfortable. The towels had someone else’s hair on it as well as the bedsheets. It’s better to sleep outside than to sleep here and breathe in this disgusting air. The AC/heater in this room is beyond dirty and I feel like staying here is a hazard for my health. Im simply appalled. Never stay here.
Apr 20, 2025 · Anna AkimovaThis is not our first stay, and each time, I am pleased with the room overall. It's clean, neat, tidy, up to date, and relatively comfortable for a very low-budget room. Even the cheap beds are tolerable. The room was the same as expected. However, we definitely had some adverse experiences that will send us elsewhere next time we work in Syracuse. First and foremost, we returned from picking up dinner on our second evening at about 6:30pm to discover our key card did not work. Not a problem. Until I went to the desk to have it fixed and discovered that there was not a soul to fix it (along with no heat in the lobby.) I called the local phone # which sent me to Red Roof's AI booking line and into a loop where no human was available. We stood in the lobby, ringing the bell, calling every # we could find for the hotel and chain while freezing in the 9° evening in an attempt to gain access to the hotel room that had everything we had with us inside. We were not the only ones with the same problem. Another gentleman was also waiting with his 2 small children to also have his key card reactivated. We banged the bell, pounded on the door, and even yelled, hoping someone just wasn't hearing the bell. A man also came in looking to check in and waited for a period. He finally left when no one came to the desk. Finally, after 45 minutes, the desk attendant sauntered in and asked if we had been waiting long. I had well over $20k in camera gear for the weekend of work inside a room that I was locked out of. I was frozen to the bone carrying my (now stone cold) dinner. To say I was a little upset would be a gross understatement. Second problem: absolutely no bath towels. Only 2 small hand towels and a bath mat. Of course, we discovered this when there was no one about to help us. And probably what should have been most concerning, the walkways were not shoveled or salted at all when we came in that evening or as we checked out at 11am. It was icy and SLICK. NOT safe to walk on, let alone carrying out luggage. If you are booking for the cheap decent room, be aware that it is also some sort of halfway house and has some "characters" hanging around. While none made us concerned, if I had been traveling without my husband, it probably would NOT have been a wise choice for feeling secure. Especially traveling with expensive work gear.
Feb 02, 2025 · Charming ArtistryI have to say I was very scared after reading all of the reviews for this hotel. Of course they had already booked my room when I read the reviews so it was too late to do anything about it, but I will say that I was pleasantly surprised when I entered my room and I Was greeted with a clean, smelling room, a clean bed and relatively new fixtures. There were some issues, but nothing like the reviews stated. Front desk staff was helpful and courteous.
