We have stayed here 2 times now, and the second time by far was terrible. We checked in Sat evening. I booked online. The price was reasonable, and the location was great. We booked a double queen. Upon arriving in the room, it smelled like cigarettes so bad. I went to the office to let them know, and the employee came to my room with an empty can of air freshener and proceeded to spray into the air conditioner. 馃檭 This room had a stovetop and a microwave, as well as a small sink and refrigerator. The stovetop had food and debris on it. The countertops had great and grime all over them. The fridge was small but worked effectively. The bathroom was nasty, the toilet was not cleaned, the shower had mildew, and the shower curtain was nasty as well. The floors hadn't been swept or mopped ever. There was a black film and muddy footprints on the floor. The linens weren't cleaned because we found all kinds of hairs all over them. We brought our own bed sheets, and thank goodness we did because what was there was very unacceptable. Overall, you have other options. Please explore those.
Hello, fellow North Carolinians! When your plans bring you to Winston-Salem for an extended period, whether it's for a temporary work assignment, a relocation, a lengthy visit with family, or simply a prolonged vacation, standard hotels often don't quite fit the bill. That's where extended stay hotels, like the Extended Stay America - Winston-Salem - Hanes Mall Blvd., come into play. These properties are specifically designed to offer a "home-away-from-home" atmosphere, providing amenities that make longer stays more comfortable and cost-effective.
The Extended Stay America brand focuses on providing functional, apartment-style accommodations. Their signature offering is the in-suite kitchen, allowing guests to prepare their own meals and save on dining out expenses, which is a significant advantage for those staying for weeks or even months. For North Carolina residents navigating temporary housing needs, a renovation project, or even an extended visit to our state's charming cities, understanding what an extended stay hotel offers from a local perspective is incredibly valuable.
In this article, we'll provide a clear, factual, and balanced overview of the Extended Stay America - Winston-Salem - Hanes Mall Blvd. We'll delve into its location, the specific services it offers (including those all-important kitchenettes!), its key features and highlights, and what real guests have experienced during their stays. The Extended Stay America - Winston-Salem - Hanes Mall Blvd. is situated at 1995 Hampton Inn Ct, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, USA. As its name explicitly states, one of its primary advantages is its close proximity to Hanes Mall, a major retail complex in Winston-Salem. This location offers significant convenience for guests, providing "easy access" to a "diverse range of shops and restaurants." For North Carolinians, this means a wide variety of dining, shopping, and entertainment options are just a short drive away, making it easy to fulfill daily needs and leisure activities.
Beyond the mall, the hotel's placement in the Hanes Mall area ensures good accessibility to other parts of Winston-Salem. It's typically well-connected to major roads and thoroughfares, allowing guests to navigate to downtown attractions, business districts, or other parts of the city with relative ease. For example, popular destinations like the M. C. Benton Jr. Convention Center and LJVM Coliseum are within a reasonable driving distance.
The hotel is also located on what appears to be a smaller, less trafficked street (Hampton Inn Ct), which can contribute to a quieter environment compared to being directly on a major boulevard. Ample free self-parking is a standard offering, which is crucial for guests traveling by car, particularly for extended stays where having a vehicle is often a necessity. This combination of being near retail hubs and major roads, yet offering a potentially quieter setting, makes the location a strong point for many extended stay travelers.

For North Carolinians facing the need for extended accommodation in Winston-Salem, the Extended Stay America - Winston-Salem - Hanes Mall Blvd. offers a mix of compelling advantages and significant concerns. Its suitability for locals truly depends on individual priorities and willingness to navigate potential issues.
The primary reason this hotel can be suitable is its design for extended stays. The presence of in-suite kitchens (with stovetop, microwave, and full-sized fridge) is a major benefit, allowing locals to maintain a semblance of home life, cook their own meals, and significantly cut down on dining expenses over weeks or months. For those undergoing home renovations, relocating, or on long-term work assignments in Winston-Salem, this feature offers invaluable convenience and cost savings compared to traditional hotel rooms. The on-site laundry facilities further enhance this self-sufficiency, a crucial amenity for prolonged stays.

The pet-friendly policy is another huge plus for North Carolinians who travel with their furry family members, providing a true "home away from home" experience for all.
However, it is absolutely paramount for any North Carolina local considering this hotel to be fully aware of the starkly contrasting guest reviews regarding cleanliness. While one review praises "amazing service" and "very clean rooms," another describes significant issues with cleanliness, including bad odors, dirty bathrooms with mildew, uncleaned floors, and unacceptable linens. This inconsistency suggests that the experience can vary greatly and that guests might need to be prepared to address cleanliness concerns upon check-in.
In conclusion, the Extended Stay America - Winston-Salem - Hanes Mall Blvd. is most suitable for North Carolina locals who prioritize the cost-effectiveness and practical amenities of an extended stay model (especially the in-room kitchen and laundry) for a long-term need, and who are willing to potentially overlook or address initial cleanliness issues. For those whose budget and need for self-sufficiency outweigh the risk of inconsistent hygiene, it offers a functional base in a convenient part of Winston-Salem. However, guests should proceed with caution and perhaps contact the hotel directly regarding room condition and cleaning protocols upon booking to set realistic expectations for their stay.

Apr 30, 2024 路 Arba GainesSince staying here, I have had amazing service! The rooms are very clean. The ladies I'm the office are always helpful and the house keepers always ask to see if you need anything. Haven't stayed in a hotel that was ran so well in a long time! I recommend staying here to work, vacation, just passing through or to stay a little extra bit. Has a laundry room with a snack machine and a drink machine. I really have enjoyed my stay. And it's quiet at night not a lot of activity through here disturbing you. Love it!!!
Nov 16, 2022 路 taylor ebarbFirst time my boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel. We loved the kitchenette and the bed was comfy. We got the handicapped room and it was nice as I was able to take a bath. The location was perfect as it was close to all the main restaurants. We felt safe at this hotel and the staff was very friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel for solo travelers to traveling with family.
Jan 07, 2023 路 Mary PayneThis was the dirtiest, grungiest hotel I have ever seen. The room reeked of stale cigarettes, the bed linen smelled, dried food was on the wall, for a suite there were no table to sit and eat at, no pots and pans to cook with and no utensils or plates to eat with. The bathtub had hair in it, and there were two moldy chairs in the room . Due to the time that I got the room, I kept it. However, inorder to enjoy my rest it required me spending 60.00 dollars for new linen a d pillows for the bed a d 20.00 dollars for cleaning supplies to scrub the place clean and this took about a good 90 minutes to complete. Worst place ever ( for me). The office staff was kind, however.
Jun 12, 2023 路 David MartinThis is absolutely THE worst place to stay. I travel for work and stayed at this property because of its location to work. I was given a room next to the staircase that they started demolition on the very next day after I got there which lasted everyday that I was there, more than 6 weeks (I work nights so no sleep). The fire alarm would go off everyday as they were under construction, non of this was relayed to me when booking the reservation! The staff is rude, the washing machines do not work, guest are being told it's their responsibility to report equipment malfunction to the 1800# listed on the machine. Housekeeping service does not exist, I had my room cleaned 1 time in 3 weeks and I had to literally beg them to vacuum which by way wasn't working per the house keeper when she tried using it. Other times I was told I can get clean linen and a broom at the front desk to do it myself. This place is absolutely garbage. I would NEVER stay at any extended stay America again, NEVER!!!!
