I was given the nightly rate in December for multiple nights. Room was outdated but clean. The parking lot was pretty empty so not many other patrons were there. After the first night I was asked if I had more than one person in the room, which I did not. I was told there were "noise complaints." Impossible that it came from my room. I was gone the entire day and only slept in the room. I was then informed that because of Christmas the room rate would be DOUBLED. If I didn't like it I was told I could leave. Absolutely underhanded and unethical.

It's a spot where classic charm meets essential modern conveniences, offering a comfortable and practical base for exploring our vibrant region.

The Forty Winks Inn is notable for its distinctive Prairie Architecture, a truly impressive feature with its glass-enclosed atrium, designed by Russell Barr Williamson, an architect who collaborated with Frank Lloyd Wright. This historical charm, combined with a focus on personalized service, often sets it apart. While, like any hotel, experiences can vary, many guests consistently praise the "large and clean" rooms, "super comfortable" beds, and the helpfulness of the front desk staff, who have been described as "always kind." If you're a local in Wisconsin looking for a quaint, well-located, and accommodating hotel for yourself, family, or friends visiting the Milwaukee area, the Forty Winks Inn certainly warrants a closer look for its unique character and value.

  • Focus on Affordability and Value: Despite its unique charm, the inn offers a "clean and comfortable stay with basic amenities at an affordable price," making it a great value.

While some guests have noted that the rooms might be "outdated" in terms of decor, and there have been isolated reports of issues like noise complaints or pricing discrepancies during peak times, the overall sentiment points to a property that prioritizes cleanliness, comfort, and friendly service in a charming, unique setting.

Promotions or Special Offers

Given that the Forty Winks Inn is an independently and family-owned hotel, its promotional offers may differ from those of large chains. While specific, publicly advertised "promotions" in the traditional sense might not always be readily found online, their focus often lies in providing competitive direct rates and personalized service. It's always best to contact the inn directly for the most accurate and up-to-date pricing and any potential deals.

However, based on typical independent hotel practices and guest feedback, here's what you might find or should inquire about:

  • Multi-Night Discounts: As an establishment that can accommodate longer stays (with kitchenette options), there may be more favorable rates for booking multiple nights or even weekly rates compared to single-night bookings.
  • Direct Booking Advantages: Often, booking directly through the hotel via phone can lead to the best available rates, as it avoids third-party commission fees.
  • Seasonal Pricing: Rates may fluctuate based on demand, such as during major local events (e.g., State Fair, Brewers games) or holidays. Contacting them for specific dates is crucial to confirm pricing.
  • Potential for Negotiated Rates: For extended business stays or group bookings, it may be possible to inquire about specially negotiated rates.

The hotel's emphasis on providing a comfortable and homely stay at an affordable price, rather than flash sales, is often its primary value proposition. Therefore, contacting them directly at their phone numbers is the most effective way to learn about the best rate for your specific travel needs.

This was a great location that is owned and operated by a vet. The rooms were large and clean, there was good sized mini fridges and a microwave. Water got very hot and they had large quilts that felt home made on the beds. The front desk lasy was always kind and even helped us out with our Amazon package. Located near food, gas, coffee, you name it. Great place and would definitely go back

Rooms are efficient, and the beds are very comfortable. The most important part is how clean they are. They are so kind to my family. The cleaning lady goes up and beyond. The location is wonderful for brewers' game, zoo, or downtown for conferences or go to Outlets or mall Nothing more than 10 minutes

I've stayed here every time I've been in Milwaukee and I love it! The rooms are super clean, the staff is nice, and the location is stellar! Each time I've stayed I've been conveniently close to the zoo, American Family Field, and the State Fair. I've also come here a few times as a solo traveller and I've always felt safe and right at home. I highly recommend!

We were in town for a Brewers game and rented two rooms at the Forty Winks Inn. It was easy to get to from the stadium. The rates were low compared to most other hotels. It's a two star motel, so don't expect luxury. I commend the owners and staff for keeping everything so clean. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The staff was excellent. It's a secure building with a key necessary to enter any of the outer doors. It was very quiet and we were able to sleep through the night without disturbance. If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive and clean place to stay, I would recommend the Forty Winks.
