We had reserved an additional room block here for our wedding without knowing for certain how many of our guests would be staying. It turned out nobody ended up booking due to price and the 2 night minimum requirement. Our $300 “breakfast gratuity” deposit was kept for a breakfast that not one single person ate. Additionally, they charged $25/room (8 rooms) that was not booked which is understandable. The room block was released back to the public 30 days in advance. Per the contract I signed, I understand that I am liable for these costs. However, management was extremely rude and unhelpful in our exchanges and refused to give back any of the deposit or in exchange perhaps a gift card to use at a later date. We had also reserved a party bus for transportation with another company in which we signed a non-refundable contract. This company immediately refunded our money ($640) and thanked us for the heads up. Some businesses are client centered and some are not. Long story short, do not reserve a room block here unless you are 100% certain all of the rooms will be booked. There are plenty of hotels you can reserve a room block at that do not require a non-refundable deposit!

I visited here for afternoon tea with my girlfriend and this was my experience. All reservations are made over the telephone, in advance. This includes paying for afternoon tea, which includes gratuity. The only thing you need to do on the day of your appointment is to show up and enjoy the experience. There is a small room adjacent to the main tea room that has a collection of teacups and saucers that you can choose from, and several glass jars with different types of tea bags to choose from. The main tea room is beautiful, the walls are adorned with many different portraits, some nude. Everything is pink themed, as you can see in the photographs. The afternoon tea is a typical selection, including sandwiches, scones, pastries, and champagne. At the end, they provide you with some nice Garrison Inn branded paper bags in order to pack your leftovers. It should be noted that the staff was incredibly courteous, attentive, and polite throughout all of my encounters with them. I will definitely be back again.

AVOID THIS HOTEL! Booked our room 9 months in advance and they canceled our reservation a few weeks before our stay simply because we wanted to book the tea room for a photoshoot. The main reason we wanted to stay at The Garrison was for the tearoom for a photoshoot, which I'm sure is why most guests would want to stay there. They were a nightmare to deal with and took months to get any sort of response. WARNING: BE PREPARED FOR YOUR RESERVATION TO BE CANCELED...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Garrison Inn, and I must say it was an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. My organization decided to host our team's off-site at the Garrison Inn (for both lodging and meetings) and we were floored by the warmth and genuine hospitality of all of Garrison Inn's employees. Room: The room was beyond expectations and matched the photos on the website. Spacious, immaculate, and quaintly designed, the rooms matched the feel of the rest of the hotel and Newburyport making for a seamless experience. The views of the water from the two-level room were stunning, especially at sunset. Service: The service at the Garrison Inn is unmatched. Every staff member went above and beyond to ensure our very large corporate reservations were accurate and that everyone's needs were accounted for. I was always treated with courtesy and professionalism. Breakfast is included in the nightly rate and is made-to-order. While there's a menu provided, the chef is willing and able to make items to your liking. The dining area is warmly decorated to match the hotel's unique style of modern with lush fabrics dotted with quaint/vintage touches. A truly unique part of this hotel is their nightly tea (included in the nightly rate). Each night, a wide varierty of luxury teas are available for you to brew and enjoy in either their signature pink room or in the tea room. Location: The location is ideal—conveniently situated close to Newburyport's many restaurants and the walking trail/water, but tucked away enough to offer a peaceful and relaxing retreat. The excellent location makes it a breeze to explore the surrounding area by foot. There is ample parking for those driving and needing to park at the hotel.
