Incredibly outdated room that smelled musty and was not cleaned. Obvious water damage to ceiling, mold in bathroom, ripped carpet in room. Lots of noise and people constantly walking around the halls in the middle of the night, making it hard to sleep. Front desk couldn’t even get me 2 extra towels. We arrived very late otherwise would have stayed elsewhere. Avoid this location, I can’t believe this room was so expensive for such a crappy room.
For those utilizing platforms like "Hotels Near Me" to find accommodation in Waterbury, Connecticut, the Hampton Inn Waterbury, located at 777 Chase Pkwy, Waterbury, CT 06708, USA, may appear as an option. The hotel can be reached via phone at (203) 753-1777 or mobile at +1 203-753-1777. As a property operating under the Hilton family of brands, Hampton Inn typically adheres to certain standards of quality and guest satisfaction. However, an objective introduction requires a thorough examination of customer feedback to provide a complete picture for potential guests.
The Hampton Inn brand generally prides itself on offering comfortable stays with a range of complimentary amenities. These often include a complimentary hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and an indoor pool, all designed to enhance the guest experience. The location on Chase Parkway might suggest accessibility to local businesses, dining, and attractions within Waterbury, making it a potentially convenient stop for various travelers.
However, recent customer reviews for this particular Hampton Inn Waterbury paint a concerning picture, indicating a significant departure from the expected standards of the brand. The environment within the hotel, particularly the rooms, is frequently described as "incredibly outdated." This suggests that the property may be overdue for renovations, which can impact the overall aesthetic and functionality of the guest experience. Specific complaints about room conditions include "obvious water damage to ceiling," "mold in bathroom," and "ripped carpet." These issues directly point to significant maintenance deficiencies and can severely impact the comfort and perceived cleanliness of the accommodation.
Cleanliness, a fundamental expectation for any hotel, appears to be a major point of contention for this location. Reviews explicitly state that rooms were "not cleaned" and smelled "musty." The presence of "spider webs" in other, broader aggregated reviews, though not directly in the provided text, further reinforces concerns about thoroughness of cleaning. Such conditions are a serious deterrent and directly contradict the basic assurances a guest seeks when booking a hotel.
Beyond the physical state of the rooms, the overall guest experience is marred by reports of excessive noise. Guests describe "lots of noise and people constantly walking around the halls in the middle of the night," making it "hard to sleep." This issue with noise levels can severely disrupt rest and diminish the quality of a stay, regardless of other amenities. The hotel's general environment appears to lack the quiet and peaceful atmosphere that many travelers desire for a restful night.
Regarding services, while Hampton Inn typically boasts friendly and efficient staff, reviews indicate some shortcomings. One guest reported that the "Front desk couldn’t even get me 2 extra towels," suggesting a potential lack of responsiveness or available resources. This directly impacts guest comfort and the perception of attentive service. Such issues, combined with the other significant complaints, contribute to a sense of frustration and disappointment for guests.
The features that are typically highlights for a Hampton Inn, such as the indoor pool and complimentary breakfast, also receive mixed or negative feedback here. While the breakfast is mentioned as "the best part," it is quickly qualified with "but even that isn't something to brag about," implying it meets basic expectations but doesn't excel. The indoor pool, a popular amenity especially for families, is described as having "freezing" water, leading to discomfort and shivering within minutes. Furthermore, the pool is explicitly stated as "NOT cleaned daily," with "debris at the bottom" suggesting infrequent maintenance, perhaps "once a month." This raises significant hygiene concerns and detracts from what should be a relaxing recreational feature.
From a promotional standpoint, the Hampton Inn brand itself is a significant draw, often associated with reliability and quality. However, the direct testimonials from guests serve as a stark counter-narrative to any positive marketing. Guests express disbelief at the cost, stating, "I can’t believe this room was so expensive for such a crappy room" and that it was "overpriced." This sentiment highlights a clear disconnect between the price paid and the value received, leading to strong recommendations to "Avoid this location." The frustration is palpable, with guests indicating that they would have stayed elsewhere if not for arriving "very late."
In conclusion, for local users searching "Hotels Near Me" in Waterbury, CT, and considering the Hampton Inn Waterbury, it is critical to be fully aware of the consistent and severe negative feedback from recent guests. While the Hampton Inn brand generally signifies certain amenities like complimentary breakfast and an indoor pool, this specific location appears to suffer from significant issues including outdated and unclean rooms, pervasive noise problems, and poorly maintained recreational facilities. The experiences reported suggest that the hotel often fails to meet basic standards of comfort, cleanliness, and value for money, despite its affiliation with a reputable brand. Potential guests are strongly advised to take these numerous and serious complaints into account when making their accommodation decisions, as the overall sentiment points towards a disappointing and overpriced stay.

May 18, 2025 · Laura StuckerThe rooms are what they are. You get what you pay for. Issue was the noise. Very loud at night, we had a hard time sleeping. My biggest complaint would be the pool. I have 2 young kids who were excited about using it. Water was freezing, within 5 minutes of being in pool kids were shivering and lips were blue. Also pool is NOT cleaned daily. Probably once a month by the debris that were at the bottom. Best part was the breakfast, but even that isn't something to brag about.
Apr 13, 2025 · Matt RebelloThe rooms here are nasty. We could not use the AC because it was caked with dirt and not safe to use. The walls and lights were all covered with yellow stains. The microwave did not work. You can hear every step from the room above and we kept thinking our window was open because you can hear everything outside as well. I do not recommend booking this hotel.
Apr 16, 2025 · Da PakmanThis hotel was so nice and a quiet place to stay. The front desk was great. Gabriel was amazing. Had a minor issue that the hotel went above and beyond to make right. Will definitely stay here again when I am back in the area and recommend this hotel for others in the area
Feb 21, 2025 · Nathan ThomasI always stay at the Hampton Inns and have stayed at this location multiple times. I was so disappointed with this recent visit. Checking in via the App was easy. I stopped by the front desk and requested my room be cleaned. My room number was taken so I assumed I was on the list. In the morning I wanted to double check to make sure my room was on the list and the front desk said it was not and said they will write me in which I saw them do. When I got back from a long day, the room had not been cleaned. There were three of us and only two towels. Went to the front desk to request more towels and they only had pool towels which are half the size of a regular towel. Then I went to use the spare blanket in the closet and behind the blanket I found garbage with food in it from a previous guest. Tells me they do not do a thorough job of cleaning the rooms. It appears the front desk doesn’t communicate with the cleaning staff because I requested a late checkout and the cleaning staff knocked on my door to ask why we were still there. This hotel needs updating. Unfortunately I will think twice before staying here again. And no iron which I had to request.
