Pros: Classy old art deco hotel, great location downtown near the convention center. Room was nice and has clearly been updated relatively recently. Staff were nice. Cons: Valet parking only and when I arrived around noon it was already completely full. Entrance can be hard to find. Door lock malfunctioned so I had to have the front desk send a tech to unlock it.

Jun 09, 2025 · Nathaniel WatkinsIt was a last minute decision and we were not disappointed. The lobby is clean and very pretty. The rooms were a cut above. There is a rooftop bar that was pricey but the appetizer we had was really good.
May 29, 2025 · P JThe property appears to be well-maintained, and was clean and well-appointed. The room was large and accommodating, with a sense of calm and quiet that was surprising given the downtown location. Even on the second floor there was little road or traffic noise, and the architecture makes the property feel more intimate than you'd expect from the outside. There were only VERY minor negatives that were largely personal preference (soft pillows without a variety of firmness levels, treadmills only had a few television channels, etc ). However there were absolutely no significant problems. All in all, I selected this hotel for a one night stay simply due to a problem with another nearby Hilton property being unable to extend my reservation. However I wish that I had booked my entire stay on this property, and will certainly select this property for future travel!
Mar 15, 2025 · Greg SullivanStayed at the Hilton Garden inn in Phoenix for a conference. The room was called a suite but had a pull out sofa bed which wasn’t suitable for adult guests. Maybe one single person but definitely not a couple as we were. The rooftop bar is directly accessible from the room balcony which is cool but they refused to serve any drinks at 9.45 even though the check in desk said they were open til 10 l(which they were) the barmaid was too lazy to even provide a bottled beer let alone mixed drink. I generally stay at Hilton’s as an honour member with status but the Phoenix downtown garden inn is a poor example and would recommend to avoid this hotel at all costs.
Mar 27, 2025 · Robbie RayNot a good hotel at all. My wife had a work conference in the Phoenix area, so we booked a stay here. Being in downtown Phoenix, it's naturally a nightmare to park. I am struggling to figure out where to park. I see valet signs but no workers. I finally find a meter around the corner in the next block. I walk down to find the valet guy. He was nice and everything, but he tells me, "I'm filled up." Ok, so where the hell am I supposed to park? He ends up making me a spot and tells me to back in and park here (he points out a spot). Ok, cool. Why am I paying for a valet when they're "full" and I'm parking my own car?. Then we get to our room finally. I'm not picky and don't need much to be happy. We notice the room is incredibly hot and stuffy. The thermostat says it's 69 degrees, but it was at best 78 degrees in that room. I click the thermostat down a couple of degrees, and as soon as it hits "68 degrees," the thermostat is locked and will NOT allow you to turn it down more; it simply shuts off when you try. Mind you, this isn't a "cheap hotel"; it's like 275 a night on the work credit card. We complain about it, so they send a maintenance guy up. The maintenance gentleman has some wild piercings, is stoned out of his mind, and stinks to high heaven like marijuana. I have no issue with pot, but how pathetic and unprofessional is this? Like, really? Anyway, the guy is clearly clueless and tells us, "Let it cool down outside and try again." Mind you, this is Phoenix, Arizona. I understand things can break, and that is totally ok. However, never in my life has a hotel had the audacity to tell me what I can set my thermostat at, nor would I expect a maintenance guy who is high out of his mind to have the balls to tell me, "Let it cool down outside." I told him and the hotel, Never mind. This was enough for me. We left and booked a room at the Hyatt across the street for less money, where I not only have a swimming pool but also have an air conditioner, and I am allowed to control my own thermostat. My wife will be getting reimbursement from her company since the Hilton was crap. I will say the lady at the desk informed my wife they won't be charging her for the room due to the situation and the fact we left. I appreciate that and dont want to make it sound like all the service was bad when the front desk was at least kind enough to ensure we would not be charged. That said, I wouldn't recommend a stay here. My advice if you have no other options for a hotel, stay home. Consider yourself warned.
