Pro: convenient location • water bottle fill up station • great water pressure Cons: poor service • website in accuracies • slow elevators • outdated property • rooms smell like mildew The hotel location has easy access to Oakbrook, Lombard, and Chicago. However, there are so many issues. From the outside and photos, it looks like a decent property. Inside, the lobby looks nice. The elevators are so slow, they get stuck on floors, and sometimes the doors open between floors. Service is overall very poor. When we made our reservation, we were very clear about two things: two handicap rooms with wheelchair accessible showers, and that we were booking because the property’s website says pet friendly. We were ok paying whatever fee since we were traveling a long way with a senior dog. When we arrived, we were given rooms with standard bathtubs, and there were signs up all over that pets weren’t allowed. We had to move rooms multiple times to get the roll in showers. The entire hotel smells damp, like there was a water leak behind the wall, and I noticed hotel staff pressing on a soggy hallway carpet when I was checking out. The rooms stink of mildew/dampness if you don’t keep the A/C running on high at all times. Some smell better than others, we had to switch multiple times because our first double room smelled horrible. The showers get hot, but the bathrooms become humid and muggy immediately - they need better ventilation. Also, we were hoping to use the pool, it’s been closed for maintenance for weeks. No one bothered to call or give an email about the situation. It didn’t wreck our experience, but after traveling for 6 hours in the summer, it would’ve been nice to use that amenity. Overall, the entire hotel needs a remodel. Not a very restful stay. My bed was extra soft with a dip in the middle, my mom’s was firm. You could hear doors slamming and fireworks all night long.

The lobby and initial appearance of the property often leave a good first impression, with some guests noting that the "lobby looks nice." It is positioned as a convenient and full-service hotel. However, a pattern of feedback suggests that the guest experience may not always align with this first impression. To contact the Holiday Inn Chicago Oakbrook by IHG for reservations or inquiries, here is the official information. It is highly recommended to call the hotel directly to confirm any specific amenities or policies before booking, especially given the website inaccuracies mentioned by guests.
For a local in the Illinois region, the Holiday Inn Chicago Oakbrook by IHG presents a useful, yet challenging, option. Its primary suitability lies in its unbeatable location. For someone needing to be in the Oakbrook or Lombard area for a quick business trip or to visit the shopping centers, the hotel's accessibility is a major plus. The convenience of having an on-site restaurant and free Wi-Fi is also a benefit for a brief stay. However, a local resident should be fully aware of the potential downsides, particularly if planning a longer stay or bringing family. The reports of a mildew smell, outdated property, and unreliable amenities like the pool could significantly impact the comfort of a staycation or a visit from family. The inconsistency in service and the lack of accurate information on the website are also critical factors to consider. This hotel might be a viable choice for a short, no-frills stay where the primary focus is the location. However, for those seeking a restful and worry-free experience with reliable amenities and services, it would be wise to proceed with caution and verify all important details directly with the hotel staff prior to making a reservation.

Jul 27, 2025 · Redell HendricksGreat hotel, but disappointing amenities. The hotel itself was great, but unfortunately, the pool was not functional during my stay, the pump was broken, and the receptionist said he wasn’t sure when it would be fixed. I stayed two nights during a heatwave, specifically choosing a hotel with a pool, so I was quite disappointed. Also, while the first breakfast was okay, the second morning there were no sausages or bacon available, and it was only 8 a.m. This did not meet my expectations.
Jul 26, 2025 · MarieFalse advertising! 100 hotels around to chose from and we went with this because of the swimming pool. Multiple pictures of their nice looking pool as their first display photos. Then before booking, to confirm, I made sure swimming pool was listed and active. Arrive at the hotel, and what do you know. They have their little sign freshly printed stating that they apologize for the pool being closed. Now we have to find somewhere else and of course go another extra step and call to ask if pool works. Find somewhere else!
Jul 26, 2025 · DrewI am more than grateful to this hotel. I left a very important item there without knowing it and they still had it. Only complaint I have is housekeeping did not clean my room but 1 day out of the 4 days I was there. Otherwise, my stay was pleasant. Wish the pool was bigger but nothing we can do about that.
Jul 15, 2025 · Arlisa JohnsonNicely remodeled room. Very comfortable bed and quiet on the 7th floor with a good view. I used points for one night and paid for the second, and they made me check out and then check back in which was annoying. I was able to keep the same room, but the key didn't work, so I had to go back to the desk. At least the staff are very friendly.
