I initially had a reservation from Mon 5th to Thu 8th. On Mon May 5th I checked in at the front desk. 5 minutes after check in I got back to the front desk reporting the poor cleaning conditions of my room, with chips and pieces of chicken on the floor. the desk manager said that he coiuld not assign me a different room cause the hotel was full. the reservation was made through Hotels.com and was foreseeing 100% payment to be made at the hotel. after the manager told me that no other room was available, I asked the manager if I could cancel the reservation and pay for one night only, and check out. the manager said yes, I paid my single night and the morning after I left, making sure once again that I wouldn't be charged for the other night. the morning manager said YES, 100% sure you won't be charged and here you are: 11 calls betweeen the hotel and IHG online service and as of today I got double charged: 1 charge for 1 night and one more for 3 nights. unbelievable.

While the urban environment naturally brings with it the typical city sounds, the convenience of being in the heart of the action often outweighs this for many travelers.

Services and Amenities

As an IHG property, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Atlanta Downtown aims to provide a comfortable and functional stay. A significant highlight for many guests is the complimentary breakfast, which typically includes a hot buffet selection. This can be a valuable perk for travelers looking to save on meal costs and start their day energized. Features and Considerations

While the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Atlanta Downtown offers many desirable features, it's also important to consider some aspects that have been noted by past guests. The primary feature, as emphasized, is its unparalleled location in downtown Atlanta, providing easy access to major attractions and transportation hubs. The complimentary breakfast and 24-hour fitness center are also strong points. The hotel's historic nature, originally built in 1890, adds a unique character to the property.

However, some customer reviews indicate areas where the guest experience can vary. For example, some guests have mentioned that the rooms can be "tiny" or "smaller than most dorm rooms," which might be a consideration for those who prefer more spacious accommodations. While this is often expected in downtown urban settings, it's a point to keep in mind. Issues with room cleanliness, such as "chips and pieces of chicken on the floor," have been reported, suggesting inconsistencies in housekeeping standards. Furthermore, there have been instances where essential amenities like linens for pullout couches or sufficient towels for the number of occupants were not initially provided, requiring guests to follow up with the front desk.

Customer service at the front desk has also received mixed feedback. While some guests have praised the staff as "helpful," others have described the front desk as "overwhelmed," with an "awful attitude" and difficulty in getting them to answer the phone. There have also been reports of billing discrepancies, where guests were double-charged despite explicit confirmation of single-night payment and cancellation. It's advisable for guests to meticulously confirm all billing details, especially when making reservations through third-party platforms.

Maintenance issues in rooms, such as partially working toilets that require manual flushing or sealed windows, have also been noted. These point to potential areas for improvement in property upkeep. Guests should be proactive in checking their room amenities upon arrival and reporting any discrepancies promptly to the staff.

Promotional Information and Recommendations

When considering the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Atlanta Downtown for your "Hotels Near Of Me" search, it's important to leverage available information. The hotel frequently participates in IHG's loyalty programs and promotions, so checking the IHG website directly for current deals and packages is always recommended. Booking directly might also offer more straightforward cancellation and billing processes, potentially mitigating some of the issues reported by guests using third-party booking sites. Given the feedback on valet parking costs and wait times, exploring alternative parking options nearby could be beneficial for those arriving by car.

For those planning a stay, it's advisable to specify your needs clearly during booking, such as the number of guests and any specific room requirements, to ensure adequate provisions like towels and linens are ready upon arrival. It's also recommended to conduct a quick check of your room upon check-in for cleanliness and functionality of amenities. If you encounter any issues, addressing them immediately with the front desk and documenting the interaction can be helpful. Despite the reported challenges, the hotel's prime location remains a significant draw for many travelers looking to be at the center of Atlanta's downtown activity.

I am torn on this hotel. The location was amazing. You can walk to a lot of places around downtown. The rooms are tiny! Smaller than most dorm rooms (yes, I realize it's downtown and smaller rooms can be expected). Our toilet partially worked, and we had to find ways to get it to flush. We had a pullout couch but were not provided linens and a pillow for it. Our room fit 4, but we were only given 2 towels. The front desk was overwhelmed. Their attitude was awful, and it was almost impossible to get them to answer the phone. The hotel does have a nice breakfast, and there is a convent store attached that makes it easy to grab snacks and drinks.

Room was clean and nicely kept. Room was pretty small and really felt like a dorm room. Bathroom was very small. Location was great. Close to good food and Olympic Park. Short walk to Peachtree MARTA Station. We were there for the Big South volleyball tournament and so were a lot of other people. This made it very busy which I think impacted service a bit. There was a small bodega attached to the hotel which was very convenient.

You can literally walk or ride the little scooter or bicycle rentals everywhere from here. Also on the corner is the Hansel and Gradle bakery and it is absolutely delicious. All of the stuff here were exceptionally sweet and went out of their way. John Pierre even walked me around the block to show me areas that were most lit up and safe for my son and I. The only negative thing I could say is that a few minutes before breakfast was supposed to end, I got my plate and the staff saw me and just snatched up everything and took it to the kitchen. It was awkward and I was hungry. Then there was a beautiful young lady working at the front desk that was a little rude this morning. But I just assumed she's probably having a bad day. I was extra nice to her and her attitude told me to leave her alone. Both valet employees were very polite about me not having cash for tips. One of them knew that and still went and unpacked my car without me asking him to and brought all my stuff inside. How wonderful! The rooms are small, I took pictures of my room as you see on the day we were leaving and that is a king suite. Tiny but clean and they provide a really good quality Dove bathroom products. If you go and want some advice about the area, ask for Jean Pierre. I do recommend valet as I have heard stories of people doing their own parking and getting their cars broken into. It is $40 per night but I paid that because it's a lot cheaper than getting a window replaced. many people talked about it being noisy but I did not experience that but I was on floor 6 which was up high from the traffic. The air conditioner is blocked out all the sound, you can put them on fan settings so they don't blow out hot or cool. You will not get a view at this hotel!

This place is the definition of bait-and-switch. Booked a two-bed suite with separate living area and a fold out couch that was featured in pictures on the website. Got a two-bed single room with not even a chair to sit in. We assumed that they gave us the wrong room, when we went to the desk to complain and we got told there are no suites, no rooms looked like that, the website was wrong, and we were SOL… take it or leave it. YGBSM Beds? Comfortable, lots of pillows, and a BLOOD STAIN ON THE DUVET OBVIOUSLY FROM THE LAST PEOPLE AS IT WAS STILL RED AND NOT BROWN LIKE AFTER BEING LAUNDERED! Phone? Try to dial “0” to talk to the front desk and you’ll get a recorded message saying nobody is available to answer the phone and you can’t leave a message. Pound sand. Messages? The message light on the phone blinks constantly and if you dare to try and answer them using the message button on the phone it dials “911”. A/C? Works great! But you have two different units and you need to set both of them individually. Elevators? Two of three worked while we were there. They bang and clank like they are falling apart. You can’t fit more than 4 people in them as they are tiny. Parking? You are literally going to spend more to park your car than you are on your loan, $40 a night regardless of what is going on. Housekeeping? Plan on being out of your room early or you are not getting anything. Maintenance? Peeling wallpaper, peeling carpet, scratched up window film, it just all needs to be fixed. Storage? Expect to live out of your suitcase. 1 short drawer and 1 small hanging area. Breakfast? Actually pretty good. Nice staff and lots of options. The only bright spot of this dungeon of a hotel. They really need to look into this place and remove it from their franchise as it is a rip off that damages the Holiday Inn brand.
