This is a great hotel. Quiet and quaint in midtown surrounded by a ton of great restaurants that are very walkable. It’s about 15-20 from the airport. Gym needs work as it only has one bench and some dumbbells with two treadmills, a rowing machine and a bike. Breakfast / coffee does not start till 7 which seems so late. Rooms are nice and the staff is insanely friendly.
For individuals searching on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform for a distinctive and well-located accommodation option in the heart of Atlanta, the Ellis Hotel, Atlanta, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, presents itself as a notable choice. Situated at 176 Peachtree St NW, Atlanta, GA 30303, USA, this hotel is readily accessible via phone at (404) 523-5155 or mobile at +1 404-523-5155. As part of Marriott's Tribute Portfolio, it aims to offer a unique boutique experience with local character, blending modern amenities with a touch of historic charm.
The environment of the Ellis Hotel is often described as quiet and quaint, offering a boutique-style ambiance in the bustling downtown area. The hotel building itself has a rich history, dating back to 1913, though it has undergone significant renovations, including an impressive $28 million restoration, to blend its historic roots with sleek, contemporary design. While some recent guest feedback suggests that certain aspects of the rooms and hallways might benefit from further updates to achieve a more "luxury feeling," the overall impression is one of cleanliness and a well-maintained property. The lobby is generally considered welcoming, and there are outdoor spaces such as a terrace and a garden where guests can relax. The hotel is known for its "cool downtown style," aiming to provide a vibrant yet comfortable atmosphere. It is also highlighted for featuring unique "enhanced experiences" such as allergen-free rooms and a women's-only floor, accessible via keyed entry, catering to specific guest preferences.
The location of the Ellis Hotel is one of its most significant advantages, particularly for those looking to explore downtown Atlanta on foot. It boasts an enviable position directly on historic Peachtree Street, placing guests within easy walking distance of a multitude of popular attractions:
The services and features at Ellis Hotel are designed to provide a comfortable and convenient stay for both leisure and business travelers. A key offering is the on-site dining at the Terrace Bistro and Lounge, which specializes in "Southern Bistro-Style entrees and fresh farm fare" and offers outdoor patio seating. While breakfast is served at the restaurant, it typically does not start until 7:00 AM (weekdays) or 8:00 AM (weekends), and is not included in the room price, incurring an additional surcharge. Some guests have noted this later start time for breakfast.
For fitness enthusiasts, the hotel provides a 24-hour fitness center. However, some guest reviews indicate that the gym is modest, equipped with "only one bench and some dumbbells with two treadmills, a rowing machine and a bike," suggesting it might be less comprehensive than some other hotels.
Connectivity is assured with complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel, including in all guest rooms. For business needs, there is a 24-hour business center and meeting facilities, including two meeting rooms totaling over 2,500 square feet of event space, equipped with A/V equipment and offering access to an outdoor terrace overlooking Peachtree Street.
Guest rooms at the Ellis Hotel, with a total of 127 non-smoking rooms, are appointed with premium bedding, pillow-top mattresses, and generally offer a comfortable night's sleep. Standard amenities include air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with premium cable channels (including Netflix and streaming services), a mini-refrigerator, coffee/tea maker, in-room safe (laptop compatible), iron/ironing board, and a private bathroom with a rainfall showerhead, designer toiletries, and a hairdryer. While rooms are generally found to be clean and beds comfortable, some guests have expressed a desire for updated room design and the removal of carpets in rooms and halls to enhance the luxury feel. Complimentary cribs/infant beds are available upon request.
Additional services include a 24-hour front desk, express check-in/check-out, multilingual staff, luggage storage, and a front-desk safe. The hotel is pet-friendly, welcoming dogs with certain restrictions (typically up to 30 lbs, with potential charges). Valet parking is available, but it comes with a fee (around $50), and there is no on-site self-parking, which some guests find disappointing and costly. The hotel also features special "Wellness Rooms" designed to be allergy and asthma-friendly, treated for purity, and equipped with features like magnetic mattress toppers for enhanced sleep.
Promotional information for the Ellis Hotel emphasizes its unique boutique character, prime downtown location, and the exceptional friendliness and helpfulness of its staff. Numerous guest reviews consistently praise the staff, often describing them as "insanely friendly," "simply amazing," and "incredibly welcoming, professional, and helpful." This high level of service significantly contributes to the positive guest experience. The hotel's proximity to major attractions and its unique enhanced experiences like the women's-only and allergen-free floors are key selling points. While some minor criticisms regarding gym facilities, breakfast timing, and room updates exist, the overall sentiment from guests is highly positive, making it a recommended choice for those seeking a charming and convenient stay in downtown Atlanta.

May 15, 2025 · Julia VaningerThe staff at the hotel was simply amazing! However, given that the hotel is considered a Tribute Portfolio...the rooms do not give a luxury feeling and need to be updated. I recommend taking the carpet up in the rooms and the halls to give a more elevated look. Also the room design needs to be updated. The room was clean and the bed slept well. The sign also needs to be power washed. An overhaul could make this place a gem!
May 02, 2025 · Lacresha WilkersonThe room was clean, water provided was a nice addition. It would've been nice to be able to use my own media device to plug into the TV's HDMI port. They did not have the streaming services I prefer.
May 15, 2025 · Nick StellyDO NOT BOOK AT THiS HOTEL!!!! I booked a room on line thinking that I had pre paid for the room when we arrived the front desk said it was not paid for though they took my card information and sent me confirmation. I gave them my card upon arrival so they can run. Thinking I had already paid for the room I went ahead and gave him my card that I originally thought I paid for the room with and my car didn't take so I handed them another credit card which for some odd reason decline four times I called that card they said that it was charged and it but it did decline four times. I knew the funds were on this card. Finally the payment took from this new card and we went up to the room. By time we got there the room was not worth the money that I had paid for it. Come Sunday I realized they charged both cards. Parking is way overpriced for an overnight stay. So if you want to feel like a sardine go for it stay at this hotel but it is not worth the money. And it should never be this difficult or confusion to book a room once you book a room it should be paid for. Especially if you tell them that says what you want to do.. again I'm encouraging any and who booked a room at this hotel do not do it it's not worth your money your time the rooms are too small. And are not worth it
Mar 23, 2025 · Tammy HannonI stayed at the Ellis Hotel in Atlanta with my wife and kids while visiting some of the city’s main attractions. The location couldn’t have been better—most major spots like the World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium, College Football Hall of Fame, and Centennial Olympic Park were just a short walk away. Even the zoo was only a 15-minute drive. What really stood out, though, was the incredible customer service. Every staff member we interacted with was warm and helpful, but Luis at the front desk truly made our stay memorable. He’s the kind of person who lights up the room—always friendly, full of great recommendations, and genuinely happy to help with anything you need. You could tell guests loved him— people were constantly stopping to thank him or chat with him. He’s an absolute gem and a big part of why we’d return.
