Service is a ZERO star rating at this location. Long story long, went to check in at this location yesterday and was met by a rude gentleman that stated "no power right now, you can't check in". No good afternoon, no hello, no I'm sorry we're experiencing some technical difficulties, just a rude "we can't do anything for you, go get dinner or something and come back in 2, 3, or 4 hours". Keep in mind this was at 3:30 (check in was at 3). The gentleman stated it was a city problem but all surrounding restaurants had power as that's where we had to go wait for 4+ hours. I asked the man after 7 when we checked in, would we be compensated in some way for the issue and he very "professionally" stated "talk to the manager that will be here tomorrow morning, I don't know anything bro". Wake up this morning and go to check out and ask about this issues, the front desk lady stated she didn't even know it occurred but of course she also can't help me and turns out there is no manager on the desk this morning but the evening guy was just pushing the issues off to someone else. SURPRISE SURPRISE! Of note, I did book this property through a 3rd party that had nothing to do with the power outage or this "Privately owned" Holiday Inn and their inadequately capable back up power management plan. I don't necessarily think the 3rd party should be responsible for giving me a refund or a pro rated discount for the stay, but this privately owned hotel should be coming up with a plan to compensate people for their delayed check in times. When you want to check out of a hotel at 2PM rather than 11AM, there is a fee that is paid. I wanted to check in at 3PM, but wasn't able to until 7PM or later- figure out how to make up for it. I would NOT recommend staying at this hotel as the staff were unprofessional, rude, poorly managed as why would there be no manager on shift during the weekends (most busy time), and their inability to problem solve and help take care of their guests.

For Texans planning a visit to San Antonio, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio NW Near SeaWorld by IHG presents a mixed but potentially suitable option, particularly if certain factors align with your priorities.
The primary suitability for local Texans lies in its location. If your trip is centered around visiting SeaWorld San Antonio or Six Flags Fiesta Texas, this hotel's position on Amelia Pass offers a distinct advantage. It significantly cuts down on travel time to and from these major attractions, a huge plus for families eager to maximize their fun without extensive commutes across the city. Additionally, its proximity to the Northwest business and medical districts, as well as easy access to major loops, makes it a practical choice for business travelers or those visiting family or medical facilities in that part of town. The convenience of free on-site parking is also a strong draw for Texans who are almost certainly traveling by car.
However, it's crucial for locals to be aware of the customer feedback concerning service and management. The reported issues with rude staff, inadequate communication during disruptions like power outages, and a perceived lack of problem-solving by management are significant points to consider. While many Holiday Inn Express properties consistently deliver a pleasant stay, these specific reviews suggest that consistency in service delivery might be a concern at this particular location.
Despite these reported issues, the hotel's standard amenities, such as the complimentary Express Start™ Breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and an outdoor pool, still offer the fundamental comforts expected from the brand. For a budget-conscious Texan family prioritizing proximity to theme parks, or a traveler needing a quick and accessible overnight stay in the Northwest area, and who is prepared to manage potential service hiccups, this Holiday Inn Express & Suites could still be a viable option. It comes down to weighing the location benefits and standard brand amenities against the reported customer service experiences to determine if it's the right fit for your specific San Antonio adventure.

Mar 16, 2025 · Cyle KroftHad a really nice stay here, rooms were comfortable and the service was friendly and attentive! I took advantage of the guest laundry which was great but it would have been nice to see the washing machine better kempt, mildewy and had lots of sticky detergent stains. The cleanliness in the room was excellent but my bathtub tap dripped loudly all night. Would definitely stay here again!
Jan 24, 2025 · Megan BeckerWe arrived right before midnight and the front desk was sweet & friendly just what I needed after 5hrs on the road & stressful work day. They made late checkout a breeze & the coffee was fresh and hit the spot. Plenty of parking, clean rooms & various food options around the area.

Apr 25, 2025 · Gino RodríguezPlease DO NOT STAY at this hotel. We stayed for Thanksgiving and I feel so scammed. First, the manager is never available or gone by 3 pm. I have been trying to get a hold of her/ him since I checked in and ended up calling corporate. Then, the people working there (except for one girl) seemed to hate their lives and their job. They seemed so miserable and they will not treat you well. Lastly, I called before I even made the reservation about my service dog (since a lot of hotels do not charge additional for a small service animal), and first they said no fee if the animal was small (mind you I put a diaper on my small animal even though he is trained just to avoid any accidents), then I was told maybe a $50 dollar charge (which I was ok with). When I checked in the lady in the front told me she didn’t know the charge but probably $75. I asked to speak to the manager so I can settle the fee as well as remind her of our phone conversation but she was gone. Then I didn’t get a bill when I checked out because they told me it was going to be email so they couldn’t tell me the final charges. I checked my card 2 days later and I pulled the invoices from the app and they charged me $100 dollars for a service dog fee for one night (the room was like 109 for the night). I called and surprise the manager is gone for the day again. Called the next day and manager is not available and then again gone for the day. Called corporate and they don’t handle billing so they are going to try and get the manager bc it is a franchise. Additionally, I see two extra charges pending on my card and no one can tell me what they are for. DO NOT STAY HERE!! GO TO ANOTHER HOTEL!! Also- the fan in the hotel is always on and loud (so I couldn’t sleep), you can’t adjust the temperature so I was cold the whole time I was there and our view from our room was a concrete wall when you opened the window ( the concrete wall was part of the outside logo of the hotel)
