If you're choosing this hotel for the hot tub, I suggest you choose elsewhere. The hot tub was consistently 86 degrees for the 4 days of our stay. Hotel staff are well aware of this, and don't offer much more than a shrug to address it. Another guest who has been staying regularly for years (believe he was a trucker) told me people have complained for years without it changing. It's a money trap. Also, you have to ask a staff member to let you into the pool area, which is annoying, especially when the front desk person has stepped away. The breakfast was good. Fresh fruit, pancakes, eggs, etc. Was missing homemade oatmeal in the crock (they had the instant packets). Room was fine. Our AC didn't work so they moved us to a suite which was nice. Parking can be a little tough on weekends.
For local users seeking accommodation within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Woodbridge by IHG in Avenel, New Jersey, presents a conveniently located option with a focus on essential comforts. Situated at 874 US-1, Avenel, NJ 07001, USA, this hotel is positioned to serve travelers requiring easy access to major roadways and nearby points of interest. You can reach the hotel directly at (732) 726-1900 or +1 732-726-1900 for inquiries and reservations. While some guest reviews highlight significant concerns regarding the pool and hot tub, along with noise levels and maintenance issues, the hotel generally aims to provide a reliable stay, often praised for its good breakfast and helpful staff, though consistency can be a challenge.
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Woodbridge aims to provide a functional and generally clean environment. The hotel is built for practicality, focusing on providing essential amenities for travelers. While one guest noted that the hotel is "not a fancy, luxury hotel," it is often found to be "clean" for basic room needs. However, other reviews express considerable disappointment, describing the hotel as "old and poorly maintained," with concerns about water quality in the hot tub ("murky/dirty looking and had an odor"). Issues with noise transfer between rooms ("walls are paper thin") also contribute to mixed perceptions of the environment. The lobby and common areas are designed to be straightforward and welcoming, characteristic of the Holiday Inn Express brand. The hotel is a smoke-free property throughout, which contributes to a fresh air environment, though some past guests might have left lingering odors if policies were not strictly enforced. For relaxation, an indoor pool and hot tub are available, though their condition and functionality are a frequent point of contention in recent feedback.
The services at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Woodbridge are centered around providing convenience and essential support for guests. A major highlight, consistently praised by guests, is the complimentary Express Start™ breakfast. This breakfast typically includes a variety of options such as fresh fruit, pancakes, eggs, and often has items like sausage or bacon, ensuring a good start to the day. While some guests missed "homemade oatmeal in the crock," the overall breakfast offering is generally well-received. The 24-hour front desk is available to assist guests with check-in, check-out, and any needs that arise during their stay. However, some reviews mention staff being "well aware" of issues like cold hot tubs but not offering adequate solutions, or stepping away from the front desk, making it difficult to access the pool area. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property and in all guest rooms, ensuring guests can stay connected for work or leisure. Free self-parking is also provided on-site, a valuable amenity for travelers with vehicles, though parking can sometimes be "a little tough on weekends." For business travelers, a business center is typically available, and meeting facilities can be arranged. Daily housekeeping services are provided, though the consistency of these services in addressing maintenance issues has been a point of concern in some reviews. The hotel is pet-friendly, allowing small pets with applicable fees, which is a significant service for guests traveling with their furry companions. Additionally, guests usually need to ask a staff member to let them into the pool area, which can be an inconvenience if the front desk is unattended.
The guest rooms at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Woodbridge are designed to provide standard comforts and essential amenities for a comfortable stay. Rooms are generally equipped with comfortable beds and soft sheets, contributing to a restful night. Flat-screen televisions with premium channels are standard, offering entertainment options. In-room amenities typically include a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee/tea maker, allowing guests to store snacks and prepare beverages. "Great chargers near the bed" are a welcomed feature for modern travelers with multiple devices. Private bathrooms usually feature a shower/tub combination with "good water pressure" and complimentary toiletries. While one review notes "barely hot" shower water, this seems to be an isolated incident, as good water pressure is generally positive feedback. Individual climate control (AC) is available in rooms, though one guest mentioned their "AC didn't work" and they were moved to a suite. Suites offer more space and amenities. The hotel features an indoor pool and hot tub, which are primary recreational features, though their functionality and cleanliness have been a source of disappointment for several guests. A fitness center is also available, providing basic exercise equipment for guests. Accessible rooms are available with features like roll-in showers and grab bars, catering to guests with mobility needs. While not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, Holiday Inn Express properties typically do not have on-site restaurants beyond breakfast, but their convenient location often places them near numerous dining options.
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Woodbridge by IHG generally aims to provide a good value proposition, especially given the inclusion of complimentary breakfast and free Wi-Fi. However, some guests feel that the "prices matched the vibe" of disappointment, suggesting a potential disconnect between expectations and reality, especially when key amenities like the hot tub are not functional or well-maintained. Pricing at "$215 for 1 night" was perceived as "a scam" by one reviewer, indicating that value is heavily dependent on the functionality of advertised features. As an IHG property, guests can leverage the IHG One Rewards program for points and exclusive benefits, which can enhance the overall value for frequent travelers. The hotel's strategic location on US-1 in Avenel is a significant advantage for local users searching within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category. It provides easy access to major highways like the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike, making it convenient for travel throughout Central New Jersey. It is also well-situated near business parks in Woodbridge, Edison, and Rahway, catering to corporate travelers. Nearby attractions include Menlo Park Mall, Woodbridge Center, and various dining establishments along US-1. It's also within a reasonable driving distance of Newark Liberty International Airport. Given the mixed reviews, especially concerning the pool and hot tub, potential guests should prioritize checking the current operational status of these specific amenities if they are crucial to their stay. It is always advisable to contact the hotel directly or check recent online reviews for the most up-to-date information on facilities and any ongoing promotions that might be available to make an informed decision for your stay in the Woodbridge/Avenel area.

May 05, 2025 · Kristin BoggsI wanted to like this hotel, but unfortunately our stay was very disappointing. We booked this hotel for it's pool and hottub and we're informed upon arrival the pool was unusable. There was still saving grace because I was mostly excited about the hottub. We went into it and it was barely lukewarm, almost cold. Additionally, the water was murky/dirty looking and had an odor. Needless to say we got out pretty quick and washed it off in the shower. The shower water was hotter than the hottub, but still, barely hot. Upon going to bed, I was awoken 3 times throughout the night from a crying baby next door (not the hotels fault). However, it felt like the baby was crying in our room, the walls are paper thin and we heard everything next to and around us through out the night. The breakfast offerings and the "office space" was another disappointment. Overall, I left the hotel feeling worse than when I stayed, and it was supposed to be a nice little vacation. If the prices matched the vibe, it would have been manageable, but for $215 for 1 night it felt like a scam. It was very disappointing overall.
Mar 23, 2025 · Alyx ArslanianRooms and Facility: Nice and clean, with a well-maintained overall ambiance that felt true to its three-star rating. Breakfast: Excellent, with multiple varieties including fresh fruits—a great start to the day. Amenities: Impressive facilities, including a spa, hot pool, gym, and more, adding great value to the stay. Staff: Friendly and helpful, ensuring a pleasant experience. Noise Issues: Walls were quite thin; sounds from neighboring rooms and even flushing toilets from the upper floor were noticeable. Bed: Slightly noisy when turning over, which could be improved. Heating: The heater wasn’t fully functional but still managed to keep the room warm enough. Overall: A solid stay with great amenities and cleanliness, but some minor improvements would make it perfect.
Dec 30, 2024 · J PHorrible experience, unprofessional resolutions on next door residents full of nothing but kids with alot of noise disturbance, unsanitary trash cans with no trash bags, amenities in the bathroom not fully stocked and were empty dispensers, towels had too much starch that it feels rough, King bed felt like a brick very uncomfortable and painful for your back, free breakfast tasted Horrible, direspectful and unprofessional manager Nada Hassan, and the window view is half a brick wall. We were looking for a relaxing and peaceful 2 Day rest after our wedding ceremony. This is definitely not the experience we wanted to experience being newly weds. We went through anxiety through the entire stay, unfortunately we did not have a car to return home the moment issues started and had to wait until our family member come to our aid to get us the hell out of here. It got even worse once I reported to Hotels.com of my issues with this hotel they contacted the Manager Nada Hassan while I was in the line. False Information about the pool and hot tub is 3FT only "Kiddie Pool Height" the pictures are misleading. The Manager front out LIE to Hotel.com representative saying the issue with me de-escalated when she never spoke to me directly and didn't resolve nothing. See my videos to see what we dealt with. This place is only good for a pit stop nothing else. It doesn't even deserve 1 Star that's how bad it is being here. The only thing good here is Front Desk Rep Anthony. He welcomed and congratulated us on our marriage and tried to resolve our issue on our first night, yet other Front Desk Reps told me "There's nothing they can do" instead of trying like Anthony did. Anthony is the only person working here at this hotel who treated us with the upmost respect and did his best to accommodate us which he should be the Manager not Nada Hassan who did nothing but be disrespectful, unprofessional with me, not a single ounce of showing empathy , compassion, and courtesy in allowing me to enter the first floor door she just opened instead of being rude, disrespectful telling me off that I can't take this door since she just opened it and made me walk to the front of the building. I am partially blind and this Manager immediately closed the front door she just opened to tell me off and didn't offer some type of common courtesy to show me where the front of the hotel is located at least. She acted like I lived there in the hotel and should know where I am going. I felt helpless when she immediately shut the door behind her not listening or caring what I was telling her even after my video recording about my disability. I felt discriminated against how she treated me and ignored me when i mention my disability being partially blind. I dont need tell anyone my disability or have my medical devices to confirm it, especially when it makes me feel vulnerable, a target to be attacked, which has happened in the past. I train myself not to use my medical devices for my Honeymoon 2 Night Restful Stay not become a 2 Night Nightmare Stay. My husband whose a Retired Navy Veteran stated he never dealt with a disgraceful, unprofessional, disrespectful type of Management during and after his service. We didn't have a moment of peace just anxiety and alot of back issies due to an uncomfortable King bed which the sofa bed was much more better than that concrete bed in our stay. It's still uncomfortable but anything is better than feeling like you sleeping on a concrete floor is exactly what that King bed felt. We didnt pay to sleep in a sofa bed. The only resolution is a full refund of this nightmare stay. We even discussed our issues with other guests which even agreed this hotel is bad and is only decent along there travels. Future reference to everyone to always contact the corporate hotel. Apr 21, 2025 · Beatriz GonzalezI did not have a good stay at this hotel. The front desk girls were extremely rude and unwelcoming- then at night time we needed an extra blanket and we were told “there’s no blankets available” then i asked again because i literally could not sleep and i was given a literal SHEET for a blanket. are you serious? No trash bags in the garbage cans- very unsanitary.
