I was here for a conference and did it stay here. But my colleagues who stayed here mentioned that the rooms were good and as it directly by the side of Rt 1&9, the sound was greatly muffled out, making the room tolerable silent. The meeting room was good, but unfortunately, their system was broken, and the temperature could not be controlled, which made the conference room burning hot. Else, all other facilities were good. Parking spaces were limited. It sure how they manage if there was a large crowd along with the hotel members, when it is full.
As a notable listing within the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform category, Spark by Hilton Rahway offers a practical and budget-conscious accommodation choice for travelers in the Rahway, New Jersey area, with convenient access to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Located at 1747 Paterson St, Rahway, NJ 07065, USA, this hotel, part of the new Spark by Hilton brand, aims to provide a reliable and efficient stay. For inquiries, the hotel can be contacted at (732) 381-7650 or via mobile at +1 732-381-7650.
The hotel's environment is designed to be functional and straightforward, catering to travelers seeking good value without excessive frills. The property has 74 guest rooms spread across 5 floors, with some online sources indicating it was built in 2006 and last renovated in 2024, suggesting a commitment to keeping the facilities updated. Despite being directly by the side of US Route 1 & 9, a major highway, the hotel generally boasts good sound muffling in the rooms, making them tolerably silent according to some guests. This is a significant advantage given its location. The lobby often features 24/7 coffee and tea availability, creating a welcoming common area. The hotel's location in Rahway places it near local parks and within a short drive of shopping destinations like Menlo Park Mall and Jersey Garden Mall. Furthermore, it offers relatively easy access to New York City (approximately 30 minutes away) and the Jersey Shore, making it a viable base for various travel purposes beyond just airport transits. While generally providing a comfortable base, some recent reviews point to issues such as persistent unpleasant odors on certain floors (e.g., 4th floor smelling like garbage and dirty laundry) and in the air conditioning, indicating inconsistencies in environmental upkeep. Parking spaces are also noted as potentially limited, which could be a concern during peak occupancy.
In terms of services, Spark by Hilton Rahway provides essential amenities to ensure a convenient stay. A key offering is the complimentary on-the-go breakfast, typically available daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, providing guests with a quick and free start to their day. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms and public areas, ensuring guests can stay connected. For fitness enthusiasts, the hotel features a 24-hour fitness center, though one review mentions a lack of ventilation and an empty water dispenser. An indoor pool and hot tub are also available for relaxation and recreation. The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk, express check-in and check-out services for a streamlined experience, and daily housekeeping. For business needs, there is a business center and a meeting room available. The hotel is pet-friendly, allowing pets for an extra charge of USD 50 per pet per stay, with a maximum weight limit of 40 lbs per pet. Service animals are exempt from fees. Other conveniences include dry cleaning/laundry services, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and an ATM/banking service. The staff is generally praised for being friendly, helpful, and prompt in addressing concerns, though their ability to resolve issues like room odors or temperature control might be limited by systemic problems.
The features of Spark by Hilton Rahway's guest rooms typically include 42-inch flat-screen TVs with cable channels, individual air conditioning units (though their functionality has been questioned), refrigerators, microwaves, coffee/tea makers, safes, and private bathrooms with bathtubs or showers and hair dryers. The rooms are individually furnished and decorated, aiming for a cozy atmosphere. Connecting rooms are available, which can be beneficial for families or larger groups. The hotel also provides standard amenities like irons and ironing boards. For accessibility, the hotel offers features such as grab bars in showers, height-adjustable showerheads, roll-in showers in some accessible rooms, and braille/raised signage, demonstrating an effort to cater to guests with diverse needs. Despite these offerings, one review specifically mentions that the air conditioning in rooms can smell like "smelly socks," indicating a potential maintenance issue with the HVAC system, and some guests noted that the heating/cooling system in meeting rooms could be broken, leading to uncomfortable temperatures.
From a promotional standpoint, Spark by Hilton Rahway, as a Hilton brand, allows guests to participate in the Hilton Honors loyalty program, earning and redeeming points for their stays. The hotel often highlights its complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and convenient location near Newark Airport and major highways as key selling points for budget-conscious travelers. Special rates for Hilton Honors members, AAA/CAA members, and seniors are frequently available. The hotel also promotes its "100% Hampton Guarantee" (though it's a Spark by Hilton, the underlying Hilton commitment to satisfaction is implied) which aims to assure guests of a satisfactory stay. The hotel is often featured on various online travel agencies and the Hilton website, where guests can find specific deals, 'Advance Purchase' rates, or 'Stay Longer and Save' options. Given its focus on essential amenities and value, promotions typically target travelers looking for efficiency and affordability rather than luxury.
However, an objective overview necessitates addressing recent customer feedback to provide a balanced perspective. While positive comments highlight the reasonable pricing, the effectiveness of soundproofing from the highway, and the commendable efforts of certain staff members (particularly in assisting with conference arrangements, as mentioned by one reviewer), significant concerns have also been raised. A prominent issue is the strong and pervasive unpleasant odor on certain floors and within rooms, described as smelling like "garbage and dirty laundry" or "smelly socks" from the air conditioning. This suggests a deep-seated cleanliness or ventilation problem that can significantly impact the guest experience. Another concern pertains to the functionality of hotel facilities, with one review noting that the temperature control system in the meeting room was broken, making it "burning hot," and that the fitness room lacked ventilation and a water dispenser was empty. While parking is available and free, some guests expressed concern about limited spaces, especially during peak times. These issues regarding odors, facility maintenance, and potentially limited parking are crucial considerations for prospective guests. While the hotel offers a budget-friendly option with core amenities, these recurring problems indicate that the overall quality and guest comfort might be inconsistent, prompting one reviewer to strongly advise against staying at this location due to perceived "low quality." Therefore, potential guests should carefully weigh these reported issues against the hotel's value proposition and convenient location when making their booking decisions.

Apr 25, 2025 · HSSRThis location is really bad. 4th floor smells like garbage and dirty laundry perpetually. The rooms air conditioning smells like smelly socks. The fitness room has no ventilation and the water dispenser is empty. Service is good and prompt. Everything else about this hotel reeks of low quality. Pun intended. Run away!
May 14, 2025 · Richard DI tried to book a hotel through a third-party app, but due to a glitch, the app accidentally double-booked my room. When I spoke with the front desk receptionist, she assured me it wouldn’t be a problem to cancel the second booking since it was clearly a mistake. However, when the third-party app reached out to cancel or move the extra booking to the following night, the hotel staff denied the request. I understand there’s a cancellation policy, but being told it wouldn’t be an issue and then refused any help was incredibly frustrating. Despite my efforts to resolve the situation politely, the staff became rude, and I’m very disappointed with how it was handled.
May 14, 2025 · Ashley “Blaze” Glendon2-15-25. We stayed here when it was a Hilton Spark. Prior poor reviews had me nervous but it appears to have been purchased by Hilton from another owner. It was nice, clean but there were some pro/cons to mention. Pros. Clean, simple but well kept, friendly desk staff but they were not always available (not enough staff), small refrig, Price which included parking, bathroom was decent. Walking path next to hotel. Cons. Noisy at night (doors dont block any noise), King suites are right next to the elevator, breakfast is very limited (mostly bagels), staff other than desk staff are not very welcoming, no smoking is allowed but our floor had a strong smell of weed. Awkward location with 3 street intersection.
Feb 16, 2025 · Kurt PrescherIts was terrible!!!!! We waited an entire hour for someone to appear at the front desk for check-in. After that long wait, the room we were assigned wasn't even the correct one. The digital key didn't work, and the physical key card they gave us stopped working midway through our stay, requiring another trip to the front desk (if you can even find someone there). The bagels were stale, and the orange juice tasted unpleasant. The room itself was disappointing— the shower was dirty, and there was an unpleasant odor. Additionally, the thermostat kept fluctuating between cold and 70 degrees. 0/10 would not recommend. So hard to find the entrance.Creepy man in the lobby at night that look like they were not staying at the hotel.
