I stayed at the Holiday Inn Knoxville West - Cedar Bluff Rd for 4 nights in mid-May 2025. The rooms were subpar (1 star), the service was average (2 stars), but the location was reasonably convenient (3 stars). At first glance, the lobby of the Holiday Inn as well as the rooms look impressive but that is just the surface level and if you look more carefully, you quickly realize that the furnishings are quite old, run down, and in need of renovation. In my room, the armchair had some very questionable stains, the seat of the rolling chair near the desk was all torn up, and the walls were worn and had various stains as well (pictures included demonstrating all three issues). Housekeeping could have done a better job. On the first day of my stay, when I used a bath towel, there was a long woman's hair in the towel. I was appreciative that housekeeping came every day (as opposed to many hotels that have shifted to every other day) but on the second to last day, housekeeping came so late in the day that it was inconvenient. Service was average. Although my group received breakfast vouchers when we checked in, the breakfast hours were too late for us to use any of them since each morning my group had to leave early in the morning. (In contrast, when I stayed at the nearby Comfort Inn Oak Ridge - Knoxville a few weeks ago, the Comfort Inn was very willing to provide earlier hours for breakfast). Another issue is that the key cards are unusually sensitive to any electronics and easily get de-magnetized. Twice in the first two days, I had to get new keycards. It was disappointing that my multi-night stay was considered a "non-qualifying stay" and didn't count for IHG rewards for either points or nights. My experience is that IHG tends to be stricter than some other brands (like Hilton). However, it is still up to the individual IHG hotel whether or not to award points to non-qualifying stays and the Holiday Inn on Cedar Bluff Rd clearly chooses not to. I did eat at the attached restaurant (Danielle's Dining & Drinks). The chicken fingers were acceptable but were overfried and too salty. It seemed like the staff was overwhelmed and service was slow. There does seem to be weekly line dancing events which was interesting to observe. The location is conveniently located along I-40, making it pretty quick to reach downtown Knoxville, McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) in Alcoa, or nearby Oak Ridge. The hotel is located in a commercial area with lots of restaurants and stores. I did visit the Knoxville Museum of Art and McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture, which were a short 15 minute drive away. Overall my stay was acceptable. There are worse hotels but there are certainly a lot of better ones. Despite the rooms being in need of renovation, they were still slightly cleaner than those of the nearby Comfort Inn, but the Comfort Inn had better service and food. In both cases, the hotels were chosen and arranged on my behalf and if I had to make my own arrangements I would have selected a nicer hotel.

May 24, 2025 · Eric ChiangPre-booked 2 rooms. Arrived and was told they would be on different floors so we could have a pet friendly room. We do not have a pet and didn’t request a pet-friendly room. We said we would take one room so we could be on the same floor, but we didn’t need a pet room. They gave us a pet room. Then, we’re informed the pool (that we’ve been looking forward to all day) is closed for cleaning. No info book in the room. Phone doesn’t work. Usually we love Holiday Inn, but this is a bit disappointing :/
May 12, 2025 · Monique HendryxService was kind and friendly, easy to check in and out. My room was very spacious, though it could use some updates and new furniture. But that's to be expected with a budget friendly hotel that's also pet friendly. Staff made traveling with a kitten much easier, super thankful for that. The hotel does have a bit of a strange layout. The front desk is, as expected, at the front. But the guest elevators, rooms, and additional entrances are at the opposite end of the building, which is a surprisingly long walk. If you're traveling with multiple people, not a big deal. But it is something to consider if you're traveling alone, as each trip to and from the front needs to be a bit more intentional.

Years ago, when my family first moved to Tennessee, the Holiday Inn was our temporary home for two months. I even worked in the gift shop as a teenager. Fast forward to today—I’ve traveled the world, stayed in places both amazing and questionable, and sadly, this recent stay was a big letdown. I booked two rooms for a family trip, and we had our dogs with us (and paid the appropriate pet fee). Upon check-in, I did my usual inspection for bed bugs and cleanliness. At first glance, things looked okay. Room 120—where I stayed—had a strong pet urine odor. It was very noticeable and unpleasant. Room 124, which I gave to my family members, initially seemed fine. By 7 AM, however, my relatives informed me that they had to kill a roach, the shower drained very slowly, and the shower floor was slimy. They ended up mopping the hotel room floor themselves because it was that dirty. Unfortunately, we didn’t take pictures—we just packed up and checked out. We relocated to the Drury Inn, where the difference was night and day: clean rooms, free breakfast and dinner daily, and complimentary soda and coffee available 24/7. That’s what a hotel experience should feel like. To the front desk clerk: when I asked what could be done to resolve the issue, your response—“Since you booked through Expedia, there’s nothing I can do”—was disappointing and dismissive. That’s unacceptable. Good customer service finds a way, regardless of booking channel. On top of that, you stated that no manager was available. That’s not okay either. To Holiday Inn Corporate: I welcome you to contact me directly. I once held your brand in high regard. But this experience has unfortunately placed this location—if not the entire brand—in the same category as an Econo Lodge in my mind. This could have been a great stay. Instead, it became a regrettable memory.
Jun 07, 2025 · MR TFront desk staff was friendly and welcoming. Tv in the room didn't seem to work that well, channel would work and then go out. Smelled like smoke and other things. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Hot tub was out of service. Breakfast food was amazing and staff were friendly and wonderful. Would stay again though!
