Booking and check in was smooth, however the rooms and location of my room was very unpleasant. I wish I took more photos of the room. First thing I noticed was this piece of gum which when I pulled it off the headboard it was relatively fresh. (Please see photo) there was holes in the floor, as well as water damage to the floor that was causing softness in some areas. Half of the tv was burned out from over use. There was writing on the refrigerator and the kitchen sink only half worked. Not to mention, someone tried to break into mine and my partners room in the middle of the night. We were only there for one night and had no where else to go for the time being so we sucked it up, but needless to say it was a sleepless night. Please be very weary of this place!

HomeTowne Studios Bordentown – McGuire AFB Introduce

The HomeTowne Studios Bordentown – McGuire AFB, located at 1073 US-206 Building B, Bordentown, NJ 08505, USA, falls under the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, specifically catering to guests seeking extended stay options. As a property designed for longer visits, it typically offers kitchenette-equipped rooms, aiming to provide a more home-like environment than a standard hotel. An objective introduction requires a balanced look at its official offerings and the real-world experiences reported by guests.

Environment: Designed for Extended Stays, Facing Significant Challenges

The HomeTowne Studios Bordentown – McGuire AFB is situated on US-206, offering convenient access to major roadways like I-95 and the New Jersey Turnpike. Its proximity to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst makes it a relevant choice for military personnel and their families needing temporary lodging. The surrounding area provides access to dining options, shopping centers, and local attractions. As an extended-stay property, its environment is geared towards guests who might be staying for weeks or even months, often featuring exterior corridor access to rooms.

However, the reported environmental conditions of the property, particularly based on recent guest reviews, are a significant concern. Guests have described the rooms as "very unpleasant" and in a state of disrepair, with issues such as "holes in the floor," "water damage" leading to "softness in some areas," and "half of the TV burned out." Cleanliness is also a major point of contention, with reports of "relatively fresh" gum on headboards, writing on refrigerators, and "roach infestation" being a recurring problem. The presence of "trash stacked up by their doors and broken debris all around" near neighbor's rooms suggests a systemic issue with property upkeep and potentially guest behavior. Furthermore, some guests have reported feeling unsafe due to "sketchy clientele," attempted break-ins, and disturbances from neighbors throughout the night, which significantly detracts from the intended "home-like" extended stay experience. These reviews paint a picture of an environment that, while geographically convenient, may not offer the expected level of comfort, safety, or hygiene.

Services: Basic Support with Notable Gaps

HomeTowne Studios properties generally provide a minimalist service model, designed to keep costs down for extended stays. The booking and check-in processes are described as "smooth" by some guests, indicating efficiency at the front desk. However, beyond the initial check-in, the level of service, particularly in addressing in-room issues, appears to be inconsistent.

A significant point of contention revolves around the kitchenette feature. While rooms are advertised with kitchenettes, guests have reported that there are "literally no kitchen supplies in the cupboards." Guests must "ask for a hot plate" and are told they "had to purchase their own pots, pans and utensils," with ordering taking a week to arrive. This policy is highly unusual for an extended-stay property offering kitchenettes and directly contradicts the expectation of being able to cook. This necessitates guests buying their own cooking equipment, which is an unexpected burden and expense, and indicates a significant gap in the provided services.

Housekeeping services are typically limited for extended stays, often occurring on a weekly basis, or upon request. However, the reported presence of roaches and general dirtiness suggests that the existing cleaning protocols may be insufficient to maintain acceptable living conditions. There are also reports of unhelpful responses from staff regarding lost items, with the suggestion that housekeeping could easily keep found items, which raises concerns about trust and professionalism.

Features: Essential Kitchenette Concept Undermined

The primary feature of HomeTowne Studios is the provision of kitchenette-equipped rooms. These typically include a full-sized refrigerator, a microwave, and a stovetop or hot plate. However, as noted in reviews, the crucial lack of basic kitchenware (pots, pans, utensils) renders the kitchenette largely non-functional without additional guest expenditure. Other standard in-room features usually include a flat-screen TV (though some have been reported as partially burned out), and a private bathroom. Rooms are generally air-conditioned, and free Wi-Fi is usually provided, though its quality can vary.

For extended stays, on-site laundry facilities are typically available, offering self-service washers and dryers, which is a key amenity for guests living at the property for longer periods. The property is also pet-friendly, which is a valuable feature for many travelers needing temporary housing. However, the overall impression from guest reviews is that the advertised features are often undermined by poor maintenance and a lack of essential accompanying items. The presence of pests like roaches and potential bedbugs (as suggested by bites) also directly impacts the usability and comfort of these features.

Promotional Information: Focus on Value and Kitchenette Convenience

HomeTowne Studios properties generally promote themselves as affordable solutions for extended stays, emphasizing the convenience of having a kitchenette for self-catering, which can lead to cost savings on dining out. Key promotional points would include:

  • Budget-Friendly Rates: Highlighting competitive weekly and monthly rates.
  • Kitchenette Amenities: Promoting the convenience of in-room cooking facilities (though the lack of supplies is a critical caveat).
  • Proximity to Local Points of Interest: Emphasizing its location near military bases, businesses, and attractions relevant to extended stay guests.
  • Pet-Friendly Policy: Attracting guests traveling with pets.

However, for local users considering this "Hotels Near Of Me" option, it is crucial to be aware of the significant discrepancies between promotional claims and actual guest experiences. While the concept of a kitchenette for extended stays is appealing, the reported lack of basic kitchen supplies is a major functional flaw that directly impacts the value proposition. The overwhelming negative feedback regarding cleanliness, pest infestations, property disrepair, and safety concerns should lead potential guests to approach this property with extreme caution. Reviews suggest that even at a budget price point (e.g., $99 per night), the perceived value is very low due to the substandard conditions, leading some to warn others to "be very wary of this place" and stating they "would not recommend staying here." This indicates that while it may be a choice for those truly with "no where else to go," it is unlikely to provide a comfortable or satisfying extended stay experience.

First, beware if you are booking this place for the kitchenettes. It was the only reason I did. HOWEVER. There were literally no kitchen supplies in the cupboards. I asked about it and they brought us a hot plate, (you have to ask for one), but we were told we had to purchase our own pots, pans and utensils. They could order us some, but it would take a week to arrive.😶🫥💀 I have stayed at many, many kitchenette places as I travel a lot, but this was a first for me. My 2 year old was starving and I needed to make Mac and cheese, so I drove up the road to get a pot at the Dollar General. Thankfully our big pot at home was already broken and needed to be replaced anyway so I wasn’t as mad as I otherwise would have been. The clerk at DG asked about the pot so I told him what happened, and he just cocked his head and dropped his jaw in silent disbelief and asked where we were staying. He then apologized we had to buy a pot there. This also made me feel a little better. Later that night, I noticed a roach crawling around behind the fridge, so I spent 45 minutes cleaning, putting things away and taking food waste to the outside trashcan. I noticed the neighbors had trash stacked up by their doors and broken debris all around, no wonder there are roaches. After going to bed, I kept hearing the neighbors going in and out, talking, and honking their horns throughout the night, didn’t sleep much and it was sketchy clientele (we were in the very back of the complex). After we checked out, we never found our phone charging cables, looked all around for them. Called to see if housekeeping found anything, were told they didn’t, but it would be easy for them to keep anything they found (we still haven’t found them). I also woke up with bites on my legs, but I am not sure if there were bedbugs in the last place we stayed or if this place had them too. We put everything in the dryer at our next hotel to kill anything that might have traveled with us, bedbugs or roaches, and destroyed a duffel bag in the process. To the owners: we spent $99 for one night in this crap hole. The least you can do is have 3-4 sets of new pots/pans already in stock at the front desk for when people need them, this is what home2suites does. If they go missing then charge them as incidentals to the room. Your current policy is absolutely ludicrous. You also need to enforce the trash and debris outside in the back rooms to keep the roaches and riffraff at bay. Otherwise you should not be charging more than $70/night for a place like this. I would request a refund, but booked with credit card points so I know I won’t get anything back.

My stay at the Red Roof Inn Bordentown was great. Housekeeping are very hardworking people and pleasant. Very accommodating, which is greatly appreciated during a difficult time in my life, recently losing my husband. It’s nice to come to a comfortable setting and have nothing to worry about. Having said that, I cannot forget about the front desk people, who were professional, very nice and caring. Best Regards, Dee

I was very concerned when Hometown Studios turned out to be Red Roof Inn, but our room is so nice! They must be renovating. NO CARPET! Yay!! Pretty laminate floor with tile in the bathroom and sink area. HUGE refrigerator/freezer, extra bar sink, and microwave. Looks like they have a lot of full-timers here, which is the only reason I gave 4 stars. I don’t know why they have full-timers, but they’ve been quiet so far. Main complaint is neither of their washing machines would not work.

Really dirty and rooms smell. Our first room had sheets that were obviously not washed. Stains ALL over. Switched rooms and the sheets were clean(or so we hope) but the rest of the room was still really dingy. Walls were FILTHY. Toilet seat was like falling part. Bath tub/shower was so gross, obv never cleaned. The water in the sink wouldn’t go down the drain. Their “seasonal pool” was full of mildew.
