My cumulative rating is a 3.5 based on the three times we have stayed at this hotel in the past year, including last Tuesday night. It is more expensive than some other Hilton hotels in Pittsburgh and I’m guessing the location is the reason. It is conveniently located near the strip district and downtown. We love walking down to the strip district, and we even find street parking overnight nearby. My issue is with the rooms. The first night we stayed there, the air conditioning was blowing on me from the wall vent often on all night long and we didn’t wanna turn off the AC because it was hot out. The room also smelled like dogs, because Hilton allows dogs in their hotel rooms, but doesn’t always get the smell of them out. The second time we stayed we had a large room and it was awesome but again it smelled like dogs. I have an allergy to dogs so it’s very concerning to me. The most recent time, this week, the room smelled like dog urine, the faucet in the bathroom was impossible to turn on and made a very loud squeaking noise when you finally got it to work. And the shower handle broke off in the shower. So although it is a nice hotel, and in a nice location, it is a little rundown and in need of renovation or deep cleaning and my suggestion to Hilton is that they have the dogs stay on the first three floors and keep the upper floors free of dogs for people who do not have dogs and don’t want their rooms to smell like them when they’re paying a lot of money to stay there.

Homewood Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown Introduce

For individuals and families seeking a comfortable and functional extended stay option within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category in Pittsburgh, the Homewood Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown offers a compelling proposition. Located at 1410 Smallman St, Pittsburgh, PA 15222, USA, this all-suite hotel is strategically positioned in the lively Strip District, providing a unique blend of urban accessibility and a home-like atmosphere. For inquiries or reservations, you can contact the hotel at (412) 232-0200 or +1 412-232-0200.

The environment of Homewood Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown is particularly appealing due to its location. Guests frequently praise its proximity to the historic Strip District and downtown Pittsburgh, allowing for easy walks to a variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The hotel offers convenient access to attractions like the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, the Senator John Heinz History Center, and major sports venues such as PNC Park and PPG Paints Arena, all within a short distance. While the location is a significant advantage, some guests have noted a "quirky" layout for the hotel's entrance and parking. The entrance is described as small and potentially easy to miss, requiring guests to go up a floor to reach the lobby and check-in desk, then use another set of elevators for their rooms. The parking garage, though offering self-parking (for a fee of approximately $26.13 per day, including in/out privileges), was seemingly designed for valet, leading to multiple, sometimes tight, parking areas and a "utilitarian" walk to the hotel from the garage. Despite these architectural peculiarities, the general atmosphere is often perceived as welcoming, with friendly and helpful staff.

As an extended stay hotel, Homewood Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown distinguishes itself with a range of services and features aimed at making longer visits comfortable and convenient. A significant draw is the complimentary full hot breakfast offered daily. This amenity provides guests with a substantial start to their day without additional cost, which is a major benefit for extended stays. Additionally, the hotel hosts a complimentary evening social with food and drinks from Monday through Thursday, fostering a sense of community and providing another opportunity for a light meal. A complimentary grocery shopping service is also available, further enhancing the convenience for guests who wish to prepare their own meals in their suites.

The suites themselves are the cornerstone of the extended stay experience. Each suite features a fully equipped kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator/freezer, stovetop, microwave, and dishwasher, along with cookware, dishes, and utensils. This allows guests the flexibility to cook their own meals, which can lead to significant cost savings and a more personalized dining experience, especially for longer durations. The rooms generally include separate sleeping and living areas, offering more space than traditional hotel rooms, along with a sofa bed and deluxe bedding for added comfort. In-room amenities typically include a flat-screen TV with premium channels, a work desk, and complimentary wired and wireless internet access. Some suites even boast Peloton® Bikes with toe cages, catering to fitness enthusiasts.

However, an objective review must address recurring feedback from guests. A prominent issue mentioned across several stays is the lingering smell of dogs in the rooms, even for guests without pets. As Homewood Suites is a pet-friendly hotel, allowing two pets up to 75 lbs for an additional fee ($75 for 1-4 nights, $125 for longer stays), this can be a significant concern for guests with allergies or those who simply prefer a pet-free environment. One guest reported a particularly strong "dog urine" smell. This suggests that while the hotel generally allows pets, the deep cleaning between pet and non-pet occupants may not always be sufficient. A suggestion from a guest was to dedicate specific floors for guests with pets to mitigate this issue. Furthermore, some reviews indicated that certain rooms might be "a little rundown" and "in need of renovation or deep cleaning," citing issues such as noisy or broken bathroom faucets, and even a shower handle breaking off. These incidents suggest that while the hotel is generally well-regarded, maintenance and upkeep may not always be consistent across all units.

For leisure and recreation, the hotel features an indoor pool and a 24-hour fitness center. These facilities are important for guests looking to maintain their routines while traveling. There is also a relaxing outdoor terrace and a lobby area with a pool table, providing additional spaces for guests to unwind. For business travelers, the hotel offers a 24-hour business center and meeting spaces, with 650 sq. ft. of space available to accommodate small meetings and events for up to 50 guests. Additional services include a 24-hour front desk, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a convenience shop for snacks and essentials.

In terms of promotional information, Homewood Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown often participates in Hilton Honors loyalty program benefits, allowing guests to earn points and enjoy exclusive member rates. Travelers can typically find various deals and packages through the Hilton website or popular online travel agencies, which might include discounts for extended stays, seasonal promotions, or special offers related to local events. Given its prime location in the Strip District, the hotel is well-suited for those visiting for cultural events, sporting events, or simply enjoying the unique character of Pittsburgh. While the price might be perceived as "rather high" by some, the inclusion of amenities like a full kitchen, complimentary breakfast, and evening socials often justifies the cost for guests seeking a more comprehensive and extended stay experience.

In conclusion, Homewood Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown serves as a strong choice within the "Hotels Near Of Me" extended stay category. Its excellent Strip District location, coupled with spacious suites featuring full kitchens, complimentary breakfast, and evening socials, provides significant value and convenience. However, potential guests should be aware of the hotel's pet-friendly policy and the occasional feedback regarding pet odors and maintenance issues in some rooms. For travelers who prioritize amenities that support a longer stay and appreciate a vibrant urban setting, this hotel offers a generally positive and functional accommodation option, especially if they confirm room conditions and their preference regarding pets upon booking.

The room was clean and very nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. Free buffet breakfast. Only deducting a star because of the weird layout of the hotel. The entrance is small and easy to miss. You have to go up a floor to reach the lobby and check in desk, then take another set of elevators to your room. The garage was definitely built for valet parking, but valet wasn’t offered during my stay. As a result, there are multiple parking areas with their own entrances, some of which are kinda tight. Also, the walk to the hotel from the garage is more utilitarian. You can tell it wasn’t designed as a guest area. These are not necessarily negatives, more like quirks. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location! The staff was very friendly and accommodating and our room was clean. This hotel was everything that I have come to expect with Hilton hotels. I really enjoyed that we were able to park our car and explore The Strip District without having to drive around and look for parking. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. This was the perfect hotel to stay at for our weekend getaway.

I stayed for 8 days and experienced exceptional service. It all started at the front desk with a great conversation with Thomas. He gave a lot of really good recommendations based on the criteria of what I was looking for in Pittsburgh (shout to to Con Alma for dinner with live jazz). During my stay I ran into a pretty major problem. It was not the hotel's fault but it was their responsibility. They went above and beyond to take great care of me. The value was very good; we had nice downtown suites for a relatively good price. Parking wasn't cheap, but that's par for the course with downtown hotels. There were tons of restaurants and entertainment options within a 10 minute walk, so that made the parking fees well worth it. Next time I'm in Pittsburgh this hotel will definitely be my first choice.

100 percent honest review of not only the hotel, the rooms, the service, especially the service, came to Pittsburgh because my aunt passed, truly depressing time. I travel a lot, and always find myself downtown when visiting different places. The hotel is extremely clean, rooms as well, parking excellent. Too management and corporate, Alexis is awesome, a true asset to this organization. Me coming here due to my aunt passing, sucks big time. Alexis was amazing, not only did she show concern about ensuring we were squared away with the room accommodations, she also connected with the inner me too show me that this wasn't a time to feel bad but a time to celebrate my aunt. I NEEDED THAT!! I believe when it comes to great customer service, one needs to be genuine, caring about customers, Alexis does and I really appreciate her more then ever. I really wish all people would be like her, it would truly make this world better a better place. Thank you Alexis and Homewood suites, your organization is lucky to have her ..
