While not directly on the riverfront, it offers proximity to major attractions. Guests can easily reach PNC Park, Acrisure Stadium, and the National Aviary, making it a suitable choice for sports enthusiasts and families. The hotel is also relatively close to the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh and The Andy Warhol Museum. The immediate surroundings on East Ohio Street offer some local charm, including Penn Brewery, which is within walking distance. The hotel itself features a lobby with "nice decorations," aiming to create a welcoming atmosphere. Some rooms offer a "great view of the city," adding to the aesthetic appeal of the stay. The dining room for breakfast is described as "clean and spacious with a great view of the street, big windows and beautiful watercolor art work," indicating an effort to create a pleasant common area.
As a Comfort Inn & Suites property, the hotel offers a range of services and features designed to provide a comfortable stay. A key amenity, and a significant highlight for many guests, is the complimentary hot breakfast. The rooms at Comfort Inn & Suites Pittsburgh-Northshore typically feature standard hotel amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. Each of the 96 guestrooms includes a microwave and a mini-fridge, providing added convenience for storing snacks or reheating meals. Rooms are equipped with LED televisions with satellite programming for entertainment. Private bathrooms come with complimentary toiletries and hair dryers. Other in-room amenities include safes, desks, and phones with free local calls. The hotel offers various room configurations, including standard rooms with king or queen beds, and suites with sofa beds, accommodating different travel needs, including families. Some rooms may also feature a hydromassage showerhead. While the hotel is generally described as smoke-free, and official policies state pets are not allowed (only service animals are permitted free of charge), specific room conditions and maintenance vary based on guest feedback.
However, an objective introduction must also address significant concerns raised by some guests. A prominent issue is inconsistent room quality and maintenance. One review critically states, "the room was terrible," detailing that "the whole tub and removable shower head didn't work," making it impossible to give kids a bath. Additionally, the in-room phone was non-functional, "bathroom stuff was half used," and there were "no coffee condiments." Most concerning were reports of cleanliness issues, with the room potentially not being cleaned at all, and staff being unresponsive or unable to guarantee immediate fixes during the stay. These issues directly contradict the expectation of a well-maintained and clean hotel room. While other reviews mention a "very nice room" and a "spotless" environment, the stark contrast suggests a lack of consistent quality control across all units. Another point of feedback indicates that the hotel does charge for parking in its lot (approximately $16.05 per night with in/out privileges), which is an important consideration for travelers with vehicles, especially given that some other hotels in the area offer free parking.
The staff receives mixed reviews. While some guests "loved the staff" and found the dining room staff "friendly," others experienced less helpful interactions, particularly regarding room issues, where the front desk staff stated they "couldn't guarantee they'd be by to clean the room." This inconsistency in service levels can significantly impact guest satisfaction. It's evident that while some staff members are commendable, a unified approach to hospitality and problem resolution might be lacking at all times.
In terms of promotional information, as a Choice Hotels property, Comfort Inn & Suites Pittsburgh-Northshore participates in the Choice Privileges loyalty program. Guests can earn points and enjoy various member benefits, including exclusive rates. The hotel often features promotions and discounts that can be found on the Choice Hotels website or major online travel agencies, such as advance purchase rates, seasonal specials, or packages. Given its location, the hotel is well-positioned to attract visitors attending events at nearby stadiums or concerts at Stage AE, exploring cultural sites, or visiting Allegheny General Hospital, which is also nearby.
In summary, Comfort Inn & Suites Pittsburgh-Northshore, within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, offers a convenient location in Pittsburgh's North Side, complemented by a complimentary hot breakfast and amenities like an indoor pool and fitness center. Its appealing lobby and dining area decor contribute to a positive overall impression for some guests. However, prospective guests must be aware of the significant and contradictory feedback regarding room cleanliness and functionality, as well as the paid parking. While the hotel has many appealing features, the inconsistency in guest experiences, particularly concerning room maintenance and staff responsiveness to issues, is a critical factor to consider when planning a stay. It would be advisable to review recent guest feedback and potentially communicate specific needs to the hotel prior to booking to ensure a satisfactory experience.

We loved the staff and the decorations around the lobby. But the room was terrible. The whole tub and removable shower head didn't work. I couldn't give my kids a bath. The phone didn't work. The bathroom stuff was half used and there was also no coffee condiments. Could have definitely been cleaned better if it had been at all. I did tell the staff and they said they would fix it but sucked for us at our stay.
May 10, 2025 · ToniaIt was a very nice room. The breakfast was great, with a lot of variety. Dining room was clean and spacious with a great view of the street, big windows and beautiful watercolor art work.. Our room had a great view of the city. They do charge for parking in the lot .
May 20, 2025 · Kathleen TolbertI dont usually leave a negative post but this hotel is not great or even good. The only saving grace was the breakfast was edible and it was conveniently located downtown. The employees all act like they hate their jobs and aren't really very helpful. The towels and bed spread were all staind and disgusting looking. It looked like someone at some point tried to kick the door in on our room. And they dont tell you up front there is a fee to park in their lot. The fire alarm went off at 7am which would have been great if there had been a fire. Ive stayed at several comfort inn suites most of them have been great. Not this one.
Mar 22, 2025 · Nate W.Room was clean and in good shape. The location is a about a mile from the baseball stadium and a little more to the football stadium. Wasn't a bad walk to football stadium. Walk is through some questionable area but it is a main road with alot of traffic so walking it after major event was safe. Only reason for average rating for service was it took about 15 minutes to get checked in with reservations. The other desk person checked in 7 groups while we waited. Had hot breakfast. Was very good overall.
May 09, 2025 · William WirtleyThis hotel is under new Management and is making great improvements. I’ve been here quite a few times in the last 18 mos and this most recent visit far surpasses previous experiences. New updated staff, better overall smell (not trying to hide something) cleaner rooms. Water is only warm but sufficient. Still improvements to make after previous bad management but well on the way to greatness. Bravo Heather
