The room was spotless, everything was clean and tidy, quiet as well. Not unsettlingly quiet, but quiet. The breakfast provided was good and had plenty of variety. Additionally this is small, but welcoming, the gentleman at the front counter gave a polite "Good Morning" when we worked our way down to breakfast. I don't know how to describe it other than it seems like they cared. Finally the hotel is a 5 minute walk to downtown, and very walkable at that. The free parking is a very welcomed and very nice addition.

Conveniently located at 574 W General Robinson St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212, USA, this hotel offers an all-suite experience designed for longer visits, providing the comforts of home alongside hotel amenities. The environment of Residence Inn Pittsburgh North Shore is generally highly regarded for its prime location on the North Shore. It's a short, typically 5-minute walk, to downtown Pittsburgh, offering excellent accessibility to the city's business districts, cultural institutions, and entertainment venues. Most notably, the hotel is exceptionally close to major sports stadiums like PNC Park (home of the Pirates) and Acrisure Stadium (home of the Steelers), making it an ideal choice for sports fans. Beyond sports, guests appreciate its proximity to the National Aviary, The Andy Warhol Museum, and various dining and entertainment options in the North Shore area. The overall ambiance can be quiet and peaceful, which is a significant plus for guests seeking a restful stay despite the central location. The hotel also offers the convenience of free parking, which is a highly valued amenity in downtown Pittsburgh.

As an extended stay property, Residence Inn Pittsburgh North Shore provides a comprehensive array of services and features. A key benefit is the complimentary hot breakfast, which guests generally describe as "good" and offering "plenty of variety." This service helps guests save on dining expenses and provides a convenient start to the day. The hotel also features an indoor pool and a fitness center, allowing guests to maintain their routines. For those looking for outdoor relaxation or a casual meal, there are BBQ facilities and a picnic area available. The hotel also provides free Wi-Fi in all suites and public areas, ensuring guests can stay connected. Other conveniences include a 24-hour front desk, express check-in/check-out, laundry facilities, and a convenience store for essentials.

The suites at Residence Inn Pittsburgh North Shore are designed to be spacious and functional for extended stays. Each suite comes with a fully equipped kitchen, including a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, and dishwasher, along with all necessary cookware and dishes. This feature is a major draw for guests who prefer to prepare their own meals, offering flexibility and cost savings. The suites typically offer separate living and sleeping areas, providing more room and privacy than standard hotel rooms. In-room amenities often include flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, work desks, and comfortable bedding. The hotel also offers a grocery shopping service, allowing guests to have their kitchens stocked with their preferred items.

However, an objective introduction requires addressing some highly critical feedback from recent guests. While some guests have lauded the hotel for being "spotless," a very strong negative review paints a drastically different picture, detailing significant cleanliness issues. This review describes a room that "hadn’t seen a cleaning crew in days—maybe weeks," with a "reeking" kitchen sink, dirty dishes in stagnant water in the dishwasher, a "grime-coated" bathtub with "unmistakable pubic hair," and no towels provided. The bed linens were described as "slept-in and unwashed," with "visible stains and wrinkling," and the couch as having "deep-set stains and a sticky texture." This review also criticized the pool as "murky, musty," and dimly lit, with a mildew-reeking tarp. Furthermore, the management response to these issues was described as unhelpful and disrespectful, with a refusal to provide contact information for a higher-level manager. It is crucial for prospective guests to be aware of these starkly contrasting experiences, as cleanliness is often a top priority for travelers, particularly for extended stays.

The staff at Residence Inn Pittsburgh North Shore has received mixed reviews. While some guests experienced friendly and helpful service, with specific mentions of staff being "polite" and seeming to "care," the negative review highlighted extremely poor customer service from management, implying a significant inconsistency in service quality. This contrast is vital for potential guests to consider when evaluating their stay.

From a promotional standpoint, as a Marriott Bonvoy property, Residence Inn Pittsburgh North Shore participates in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, allowing guests to earn and redeem points for their stays. Various offers might be available, such as discounted rates for longer stays (e.g., 5+ nights), AAA/CAA member discounts, and seasonal promotions. Guests are encouraged to check the Marriott website or other reputable booking platforms for the most current deals. Its location also makes it an attractive option for groups attending events at the nearby convention center or visiting the city for tourism.

In conclusion, Residence Inn Pittsburgh North Shore, within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, offers the advantages of a prime North Shore location, spacious suites with full kitchens, complimentary breakfast, and free parking. These features, combined with generally positive feedback on staff courtesy and overall quietness, make it an appealing choice for many. However, prospective guests must seriously consider the highly concerning, albeit isolated, reports of severe cleanliness issues and unhelpful management. While some experiences are excellent, others appear to be severely compromised, suggesting a potential inconsistency in hotel operations. It would be prudent for travelers to verify recent reviews and perhaps contact the hotel directly regarding cleanliness protocols before booking, especially for longer stays where these issues could significantly impact comfort and satisfaction.

If you’re thinking about staying at the Residence Inn Pittsburgh (North Shore), do yourself a favor and reconsider. My sister in law booked two rooms, while my brother in law booked a third, for Saturday, April 19. Not only was it Easter weekend, but the Pirates were in town for 3 consecutive home games, which would lead one to believe they’d have properly staffed and cleaned the hotel. My mistake. From the moment I stepped into my room, it was clear this place hadn’t seen a cleaning crew in days—maybe weeks. The kitchen sink reeked, and upon opening the dishwasher, I observed more filth: a stack of dirty dishes soaking in stagnant, brown water that hadn’t been drained. It looked—and smelled—like something had died in there. The bathroom was no better. The bathtub was coated in grime, and there was an unmistakable pubic hair curled on the edge, just in case I hadn’t yet questioned every life decision that led me here. There were no towels provided—none. I had to air-dry after a quick, reluctant rinse under the shower that made me feel dirtier than before. I didn’t dare bathe my children, which they needed after a dip in the murky, musty pool. (More on that later). Moving to the bedroom, the “linens” on the beds looked slept-in and unwashed, complete with visible stains and wrinkling that screamed “previous guest.” As if that wasn’t enough, the couch had its own charming character: deep-set stains and a sticky texture, which of course rendered it unusable for my children. Back to the pool- not only was the room dimly lit, but the water itself was murky, making it impossible to see your feet in the shallow end (of only 3 feet). There was a tarp on the chair lift, which was draped into the pool and reeked of must and mildew. The only saving grace was Deja, the sole hotel clerk, who somehow managed to stay professional, courteous, and exceptionally helpful amid what must be a daily onslaught of complaints. Deja deserves a medal—or better yet, a job at a hotel that actually values cleanliness and basic human dignity. As if it couldn’t get worse, when we reached out to manager Dana George, she not only lied about not returning our call, but was supremely unhelpful and disrespectful, cutting me off mid sentence, multiple times. She also refused to give me the name or contact of her manager (Don’t worry though- we were able to find his name elsewhere.) Until management addresses these conditions, this hotel has no business welcoming guests. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Avoid at all costs.

The room was very spacious and inviting. It wasn't a terrible price, and I had a good time relaxing in the hotel room. The bed was comfortable and overall it was a good place to stay for the night. The included breakfast wasn't fantastic, but it was still good, good enough to come back. My only complaint is the bathroom wasn't entirely clean.

Room was dilapidated and bathroom needed serious renovation. The deadbolt did not work, there was mildew in the bathroom as well as chipped paint and water damage in several places. The shelf above the toilet was falling out of the wall. HVAC thermostat did not work. No mattress was present in pullout couch. Only had 2 pillows in room for 3 people. Arrived with two children past their bedtime and was running marathon in Pittsburgh that weekend so just needed decent place to stay. Hotel was booked solid due to marathon weekend so had not option to change rooms. Had 4 rooms total for other marathoners and spectators. Asked for late checkout and was told by front desk it was granted but my keys were shut off anyway. Had a major issue with an employee of the hotel, contacted front desk and management and management did not get back to me at all. Location was great but otherwise would not recommend staying here. It was the worst Marriott or branded hotel experience I’ve ever had and I stay at hotels at least 60 nights a year.

Negative- pillow "turned around" on the bed had food dried/ wiped on it, dish in the cupboard had same food stuck to it. Floor had dark and sticky stuff near the table, and my son found a couple of jelly beans and food wrappers under the table. Breakfast was ok, basic but good. The pool was small ( it looks like they are fixing stuff ), but it did its job. Positive - great location 👌 we were here for the monster truck event, and the walk to the football field was about 10 mins. Almost every you need (mainly event and food wise) is all walking distance from this hotel. Although tons of cars pass by this hotel, it's very quiet in the room! Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful. There is so much to see and do we couldn't get to it all in 2 days! We are planning on visiting the city again and possibly staying here (just hope the little quirks are fixed) again as well.
