It was a good stay with friendly staff, clean lobby, clean room, and quick check-in; it did feel nice to have my car in a safe and gated space. Also saw a cool AC/DC car! Setting up streaming to the TV was a little difficult for iPhone but honestly wasn’t too bad as long as you follow the troubleshooting steps.

Customer Feedback Highlights

Customer reviews for Hyatt Place Pittsburgh-North Shore offer a comprehensive picture of guest experiences, with a blend of strong positives and specific areas for improvement:

  • Positive Aspects:
    • Exceptional Location: Consistently highlighted as a major advantage, guests love the unbeatable proximity to PNC Park, Acrisure Stadium, and other North Shore attractions like the Carnegie Science Center and Andy Warhol Museum. Many appreciate being able to walk to games, concerts, and museums.
    • Friendly and Knowledgeable Staff: Numerous reviews praise the staff for being welcoming, helpful, and efficient during check-in and throughout the stay, contributing to a positive experience.
    • Cleanliness: The lobby and rooms are generally noted as being clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable environment.
    • Complimentary Breakfast: Guests frequently commend the quality and variety of the free buffet breakfast, often exceeding expectations for a complimentary offering.
    • Comfortable Rooms: The spacious rooms, comfortable beds (Hyatt Grand Bed), and the "Cozy Corner" with a sofa are often appreciated for enhancing comfort and providing ample space.
    • Secure Parking: The gated parking, while paid, offers a sense of security for vehicles, which is a valued feature for those traveling by car.
  • Areas for Improvement:
    • Billing Issues and Customer Service for Disputes: A significant negative theme in some reviews is related to billing discrepancies, particularly with corporate credit cards, and a perceived lack of effective customer service in resolving these issues. Guests have reported being double-charged or having difficulty getting erroneous charges rectified, sometimes requiring disputes with credit card companies. This points to a potential need for clearer communication and authorization processes for third-party bookings.
    • Parking Costs: While appreciated for security, the cost of on-site parking (e.g., $26 per night) is often cited as being expensive by some guests, leading them to seek alternative, cheaper public parking options nearby.
    • Streaming to TV: Some guests, particularly iPhone users, have noted minor difficulties in setting up streaming to the in-room TVs, requiring a bit of troubleshooting.
    • Noise: Instances of noise, either from other guests or external sources (e.g., highway traffic depending on room location), have been mentioned by a few reviewers. Requesting a room away from the highway could be a consideration.
    • Housekeeping Frequency: Like many hotels, full daily housekeeping might be upon request rather than automatic, which some guests might prefer.
    • Perceived Value for Price: While not as extreme as some other hotels, a few guests imply that the overall experience, especially when considering some service issues or high parking fees, might not always fully align with the price paid.
Overall, Hyatt Place Pittsburgh-North Shore remains a strong contender for "Hotels Near Me" for visitors to Pittsburgh, particularly those prioritizing location and core amenities. While the vast majority of experiences are positive, potential guests should be aware of the reported challenges regarding billing resolution and ensure clear communication with the hotel regarding payment methods, especially for company-paid stays. Its strengths in location, cleanliness, and friendly staff continue to make it a popular choice for a comfortable and convenient stay in Pittsburgh's vibrant North Shore.

My boss booked me a room with a company credit card. Upon arriving the staff told me they could not charge that card because they didn't have proper authorization on file. I had to pay for my room with my personal card and then get reimbursed from my company. When I got home from my trip my boss informed me that they did indeed charge her card. I reviewed my statement and it also reflected a charge. I called the hotel to let them know that we were charged twice and they would not fix it. I called the members phone number and they would not fix it either! I spent about 2 hours on the phone with them in total and they would not resolve the problem for me. I have to dispute it with the credit card company now. Very poor customer service.

This hotel was quiet. The room was set up nicely, the bed and pillows were a little on the soft side (not much support), water pressure was good, the room smelled very good, breakfast was a nice variety and good quality, our linens had some noticeable wear and tear but were easily fixable and probably an honest oversight. Towels and linens were soft (not the harsh, stiff feel that you often get in hotels). If you have an event nearby it's a good place to stay with overnight parking that you can add for an additional fee.

Overall the hotel was in good condition, although it does show signs of ageing... The Staff though was very friendly and helpful. One comment about the pool...it needs more care. The rooms were good overall and pretty clean.

Beware of parking charges they don't even mention on booking com! It's $26/night! That's straight up predatory, feels like "we're not gonna tell you until you checked in" With the pricey room, we didn't get any welcome water bottle, almost opened the one in the room, until we saw the $6 on the tag, super small $ sign too! The wall is thin enough that we heard our neighbor room talking loudly at 1.30am. Breakfast was also a joke, super dry scrambled eggs (super yellow in color too, looks so artificial), tasteless fruit slices, they don't have waffle maker, so the waffles that already there are hard. The only good thing about this hotel is really the location, you can walk around near the river and it's pretty. Room was okay, no weird smell or anything.
