This is a wonderful hotel in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh! We stayed here over Easter weekend ‘25. Despite what I’m sure is a crazy weekend for them, every single staff member we encounter was so polite and accommodating. The building is a gem, old but well maintained and just steps from the baseball stadium. The street also has a dozen (not an exaggeration) restaurants + bars. As we were staying for a basketball tournament, it was an easy 10 min walk to the convention center. The “night life” looked lively but not overly crazy with local patrol on bikes. We booked a double queen room which was very generously sized & had a great view! The only downside is unless you book a package deal, breakfast is your responsibility & we found that the limited seating didn’t allow for our family of 5 to grab some there before we headed out (no to-go option either). Even still this was a 5 star experience & I will not hesitate to rebook here when I'm back in town. I wish I would have gotten the beautiful young lady’s name that checked me in. She was wonderful!! 🤎

Apr 22, 2025 · Rudi HilsonAs a Pittsburgh wedding photographer, I’m always thrilled when couples choose the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel as their wedding venue or getting-ready location — it’s easily one of the most elegant and photogenic spots in the city. The suites are absolutely stunning, with large windows that offer incredible views of downtown Pittsburgh and the rivers — perfect for dreamy getting ready photos with natural light and a killer skyline backdrop. The architecture and classic charm of the hotel add a timeless, romantic vibe that comes through so beautifully in photos. And of course, I have to mention the grand staircase. It’s a show-stopper — ideal for first looks, dramatic portraits, or even a quiet moment together before the ceremony. It never fails to add a bit of wow factor to the gallery. Whether you're hosting your wedding there or just using it as your home base for the day, the Renaissance is a top-tier choice for couples who want that upscale Pittsburgh feel with tons of photo potential.
Apr 16, 2025 · Katie HyslopI was extremely disappointed with my stay. The front desk staff was surprisingly rude and unwelcoming — not at all what you’d expect given the price point. You would assume that at this rate, the staff would be trained in basic customer service, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. I seriously considered checking out before even seeing my room due to the poor attitude at the front desk. Sadly, the room wasn’t any better. The safe didn’t work, the air conditioning was broken, the drapes were torn, and the bathtub faucet was nonfunctional. I’ve stayed at many hotels in Pittsburgh, and this one ranks as one of the worst in terms of both service and upkeep. If the property isn’t going to be maintained properly, the rates should reflect that.
May 24, 2025 · Dawn ParanaMy wife and I stayed one night (4/13/2025), because we were coming from Cincinnati to see a concert at Stage AE. We splurged a little for a 4-star hotel, and couldn't have regretted it more. Check-in was fine. But as soon as we entered the room on the fifth floor, it was apparent the A/C was not working. And this hadn't been communicated to us, nor apparently to the housekeeping staff, who left the curtains open with the sun baking the room. It was at least 85 degrees in the room. We called down to the front desk, and were then informed that they were having issues with the A/C and they'd let "them" know it was affecting our room. This bothered us because clearly they knew there was an A/C issue when we checked in, but front desk staff didn't say anything. We had planned on resting in the room for a couple hours before the concert, but had to leave because it was too hot. We closed the curtains. After the concert, it was still a bit hot, but we were able to sleep, though we did consider going across the river to another hotel. Afterward, I left feedback with the hotel about the issue, and basically got a "sorry about your luck" message in response. It had a bunch of corporate BS like, "we will review our procedures for the future." Not even an offer of a partial refund for the malfunctioning A/C, and, worse to me as a consumer, lack of communication. If we'd have been told about the potential for an A/C issue affecting the room at check-in, and if they'd have instructed the housekeeping staff to not let the sun bake the room, we wouldn't have been nearly as bothered. We won't be staying at any Marriott properties after this.
May 03, 2025 · Michael ZimmermanCertainly not a 4 star hotel as advertised. Stayed 4 nights in April of 2025. Room furniture was stained and uncomfortable. Comforter on bed was old and stained. Mattress was uncomfortable and lumpy. Heat/ac vent was loaded with dust. Help was courteous. Expected better from Marriott. Will not be staying at any Marriott owned hotel again. We were at the Renaissance in Pittsburgh.
