This was my first stay at the Embassy Suites in downtown Pittsburgh, where I attended a friend’s wedding. The hotel itself is beautiful, and both the hotel and my room were exceptionally clean. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The wedding food was delicious, and the complimentary breakfast was a highlight, especially the made-to-order omelet station. However, there were a few aspects that could be improved. The elevator system was frustrating; despite having multiple elevators, we often had to wait as many arrived full, suggesting that only a couple were operational. Additionally, during the wedding reception, the waitstaff were not very attentive. My drink was taken away multiple times before I had finished, and when I mentioned this to a waitress, she merely smiled without offering a replacement. The valet service in the morning was also confusing. After texting for our car, we waited about 30 minutes without clear communication about the process. It seemed there was a lack of information provided about hotel procedures, which led to some unnecessary confusion. Overall, the wedding was enjoyable, and the hotel has many positive attributes. However, attention to these logistical details would significantly enhance the guest experience.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown Introduce

For local users and visitors seeking a comfortable and convenient stay through "Hotels Near Of Me" in the bustling city of Pittsburgh, the Embassy Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown offers a distinctive all-suite experience. Located at 535 Smithfield St, Pittsburgh, PA 15222, USA, and reachable at (412) 338-2200, this hotel is housed within the historic Henry W. Oliver Building, blending historical charm with modern amenities.

Environment and Ambiance:

The Embassy Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown occupies the top 11 floors of the 25-story Henry W. Oliver Building, which dates back to 1908. This historical setting imbues the hotel with a unique character, featuring original elements like marble and brass-encased elevator cars, combined with contemporary design. The hotel boasts a one-of-a-kind "Sky Lobby" on the 25th floor, which offers panoramic views of downtown Pittsburgh and serves as the check-in area, creating a memorable first impression. Guests often describe the hotel as beautiful and exceptionally clean, with rooms that are spacious and comfortable. The ambiance is generally geared towards providing a resort-like feel, offering a sense of separation from the city's hustle and bustle, even amidst its central location. The hotel also aims to reflect Pittsburgh's industrial heritage through its design and artwork.

Services and Amenities:

The Embassy Suites by Hilton is renowned for its signature amenities designed to enhance guest comfort and value. A major highlight, frequently praised by guests, is the complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast, which often includes an omelet station, providing a delicious start to the day. Additionally, the hotel offers a complimentary Evening Reception with snacks and beverages, a popular perk for all ages. The staff generally receives positive feedback for being kind and helpful, though some instances of uncommunicative front desk staff or inattentive waitstaff have been noted by past guests. The hotel provides a 24-hour front desk, express check-in/check-out services, and luggage storage. Complimentary wired and wireless internet access is available throughout the property. For those with events or business needs, the hotel offers over 6,600 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, including two signature ballrooms with industrial-inspired designs, suitable for weddings, banquets, and conferences, with dedicated event planning services. Housekeeping is provided daily, and the hotel is pet-friendly, allowing cats and dogs for an additional fee (service animals are exempt). The hotel aims to provide family-friendly amenities, including the availability of free cribs/infant beds and sofa beds in suites, though some guests have noted challenges with stroller accessibility and the lack of luggage carts in parking areas.

Features and Facilities:

As an all-suite hotel, every accommodation at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown features a separate bedroom and living area, providing ample space for relaxation or work. Suites are typically equipped with a sofa bed, a desk, a 49-inch flat-screen TV with premium cable channels, a mini-refrigerator, microwave, and a Keurig coffeemaker. Blackout drapes contribute to a good night's sleep, and guests often appreciate the soundproofing between rooms. Bathrooms generally include a shower/tub combination, complimentary toiletries, and a hair dryer. The hotel features an indoor swimming pool, which offers panoramic city views from its high-floor location, though one review mentioned a slimy film on the water, suggesting occasional maintenance issues. A 24-hour fitness center, located on the 25th floor, is available for guests to maintain their workout routines. Dining options include an on-site restaurant and a bar/lounge, where the complimentary breakfast and evening reception are held. There is also a 24-hour business center with computer stations. The unique layout with the lobby on the 25th floor adds to the distinctive experience, though some guests have found the elevator system to be frustrating, with long wait times and inconsistent operation.

Promotional Information and Parking:

While specific promotions can vary, guests often find value in the Embassy Suites model due to the inclusion of complimentary breakfast and evening reception. Hilton Honors members can typically benefit from loyalty program perks such as discounted rates, digital check-in, and other exclusive offers. The hotel is particularly well-suited for groups and families due to its all-suite layout and connecting room options. Parking is a key consideration for guests. The hotel offers secured, covered valet parking on-site for a fee, which can be substantial (around $35-$50 per night, including in/out privileges). However, long wait times for car retrieval (sometimes 30 minutes to 2 hours) and occasional issues with valet service, including lost keys, have been reported by guests. Some reviews also mention that the front desk might discourage guests from self-parking in nearby, potentially more affordable, public garages. Guests with larger vehicles, such as trucks, are particularly advised to be cautious when navigating parking garages. It's recommended that guests inquire about the most current parking procedures and costs upon booking or arrival.

Location and Nearby Attractions:

The hotel's central downtown location is a major asset for those searching on "Hotels Near Of Me." It is nestled in the heart of Pittsburgh's central business district, offering excellent walkability to numerous attractions, dining, and entertainment venues. Key nearby points of interest include Market Square (a short walk away), PPG Paints Arena (within a 10-minute walk), David L. Lawrence Convention Center (a few blocks away), Point State Park, and the Cultural District with its various theaters like the Benedum Center and Heinz Hall. The hotel is also conveniently located just two blocks from the subway station for the complimentary "T" line, providing easy access to major sports venues like PNC Park and Acrisure Stadium, as well as universities such as Duquesne University, University of Pittsburgh, and Carnegie Mellon University. The hotel's proximity to a wide array of restaurants, bars, and shops further enhances its appeal for both leisure and business travelers looking to experience downtown Pittsburgh.

Enjoyed our stay here. Rooms were dirty and had holes in the ceiling and walls but the view was nice. Breakfast was great. Parking though is a nightmare, waiting 40min 2hrs for them to bring cars, some people had their vehicles lost, employees took keys home to peoples vehicles. Front desk check in was rude, did not like that we knew to park in the parking garage and go up. (If you go down with a truck you will get scratches) She was going to get the employee that told us it was cheaper to park ourselves in trouble. Pool was disgusting it had a slimy film on top, our 10 yr old pointed it out and would t go in it. We are rural people so staying downtown was neat with the lights that's my reason for 5 star. I also enjoy not being able to hear people in the hallway with 3 doors separating us it was easy to sleep and we appreciated the black out blinds. The stay was like a resort not a hotel so we enjoyed that. Not a place to take a baby!!! Our stroller wouldn't fit through doors, no carts and they wouldn't allow you to take them so we had to lug a playpen all the babies stuff plus two other kids stuff 5 levels from a parking garage to the 21st floor of a hotel. Not fun.

Has all modern amenities & technology. The building looks to be an historic landmark, it’s a sturdy building. Its location is in the middle of everything & within walking distance to great stores, sites, restaurants etc. Security is present yet no over bearing they blend in and greet you. I felt safe The check in/ lobby / bar is on the 25th floor this to me felt safer & different from other hotels. I arrived at 12 at night on business for a 30 hour stay I was checked in by the lovely Ethan! If you meet Ethan I asked that you be nice & respectful to him. My room key was ready waiting for me, Ethan has got you covered. So please be nice to Ethan & tell him I said hello & thank you for his service. I arrived tired, worn out & aggravated and hungry. Ethan was working the front desk he is handsome, well dressed. Ethan changed my mood by professionally& warmly greeting me with understanding. Ethan quickly, politely & respectfully checked me in and gave me a listing of all the local restaurants. He clearly & concisely explained all of the hotel accommodation. I ended up just purchasing some snacks from the hotel’s snack area and going to my room. I hope Ethan’s employers know that he does a wonderful job. He did not make me wait long for nothing & Ethan exercised great patience while answering my questions. This was my first time staying at this hotel & given the late hour I arrived the reception from Ethan was excellent. The hotel is clean & well lit. The building is old & sturdy however the furnishing & decor is modern, in working order along with clean. The carpet doesn’t smell like mildew nor look dirty. They keep this hotel clean. Lots of elevators so you won’t wait more than 1 mins for one to come. The walls are either thick or well insulated because you can’t hear any noises in the next rooms or hallways. Every floor has soda vending machines & ice machines so you don’t have to travel to other floors. The hotels also has a lot of space in the rooms, halls, bar etc nothing is small high ceilings. The suites are 3 rooms kitchen-living room, bathroom, bedroom areas. Two tv one in bed room another in living room area. Microwave, fridge, coffee maker, sink and table, couch with a lounger. Bathrooms are big. The bedrooms are big with comfortable beds, I pull back all my sheets to look at the bed no stains no bugs. The beds are so comfortable that you have to force yourself to get up. AC gets cold. There is a closet with iron & ironing board, full length mirrors, blow dryer and the curtains are blackout style. WiFi Is strong. I slept good woke up for breakfast which was satisfying well done and hot enough choices to satisfy all appetites. The breakfast staff are total professionals & there is an omelette station that is worth trying. I later had dinner at a local oyster bar. The hotel gives you a map of at least 80 local restaurants. I definitely can’t wait to come back & recommend this hotel

A solid hotel well situated in Pittsburg. It is a little odd because you check in on the 25th floor! It's funky and fun and safe. The complimentary breakfast bar is great. The evening happy hour is not so great with the snacks being pretzels and chips. The service was nice and the rooms were big and old school. I would recommend it for any business traveler.

Echoing the comments from another guest. This hotel is not family friendly what’s so ever. the pool was cold and the staff was not helpful at all. to make matters worst i was charged a 200 “excessive cleaning fee” for remnants of a tissue activity and left over stickers which we left in the room. we brought them for activities for my young kids (1 and 3 yr old ) to keep busy with for our 5 night stay. I even called the front desk to ask to clean up the tissue and they didn’t even mention to me that it was my responsibility to clean up. a simple broom would have done the trick ! i’m currently working with the hilton head office to remove this charge. the manager himself mentioned that we could “work something out” to lower the cost. this leads me to believe they are using this “fee” as an extra method of charging guests. if the fee was necessary for the clean up , why would the fee be negotiable ??? one positive was the staff at the breakfast buffet. especially mark who prepared the best “classic” omelets for my family each day. pittsburg is a great city but i’d recommend staying at another hotel
