Jun 10, 2025 · Ashley MurrayHotel Emma is a pretty amazing place. The booths cut out of the old Pearl vats in the bar lounge are really cool (reservation required) if they are available. We did this for a joint birthday a few years ago. The charcuterie board is a must, it's pretty delicious to pair with whatever you are drinking. Just walking around in the lobby and bar lounge with all of the old equipment still intact is a nice accent to the decor. There are a lot of historical pictures and facts to check out in the corridor behind the bar. Even if you're not staying in the hotel, be sure to walk through and take a look at this majestic location, one of many amazing hotels San Antonio has to offer.
Jun 12, 2025 · Robert A JonesFor transparency, I have not yet visited Hotel Emma in person (we had to cancel our trip), but I can't wait to go. The reservations team was truly outstanding in helping me navigate my booking (so refreshing to be able to call and get straight to an actual live person!). They went above and beyond in helping me select the right rooms (they even took photos of the actual rooms, so I could view them without online filters - rooms are gorgeous!). They mentioned the concierge team, which sounds like perfection. An absolute luxury experience from the outset on.
May 28, 2025 · AnneMy mom used to run a travel company called The Gallivanter's Guide, which reviewed high-end hotels, and I would accompany her and so I have a good sense of what works and what does not. The Hotel Emma is a real asset to SA and that's much needed, in a city that tries hard to be relevant and compete with other cities and usually fails. The Hotel Emma is definitely a world-class hotel, the only one currently that I could say that about in San Antonio. It's where all the famous people stay when they are in town, which in of itself isn't a good enough reason as there may simply be nothing better; but Emma is worth it. The staff are very good. The rooms are well appointed and a good size. The bathrooms are spacious and clean and modern. The hotel itself is quite beautiful and in a lovely part of SA - this is a really good spot in a relatively blah city, where anyone would be content. The only let-down is the food. The associated restaurants make all the right noises but the quality is lacking and you'd be better to find a nearby place. I am sad about that as food is essential but the quality is so tex-mex not so much in actual dishes, as the over-done, poor quality, poorly conceptualized choices. Whether pretentiously French or trying to be authentically SouthWestern it doesn't work and I think it needs a huge facelift in terms of chef and concept to match the quality of the hotel overall. That said, there are plenty of options outside of the hotel and their little coffee bar is charming. I felt very welcomed and comfortable during my two stays at The Hotel Emma and I recommend it to friends from out of town every time, it is both romantic, quiet, stylish, historical meets modern, and without doubt, the best of SA. Recommended. Just please do better food-wise, I know America doesn't usually do food as well as other high-end hotels around the world, and international travelers know that, but you CAN. I've experienced it in LA, NY and even Idaho so I know it's possible. Just put down the pretentious ideas and go for quality, quality, quality.
Apr 25, 2025 · C DaquinAbsolutely amazing hotel. The ambiance is perfect. Having everything right at your fingers tips makes it worthwhile. You don't have to drive anywhere. Farmers Market on the weekend is great also. Definitely worth going back. The Valet was exceptional. They helped me more than once when I was in a bind. Greatly appreciated those gentleman.
