If you enjoy constant plane noise, a parking lot behind a Kohl’s that feels like it’ll shake your car apart, and a lovely view of the highway, then this place might be for you — but it definitely wasn’t for me. The room was also full of stink bugs, both dead and alive, which really sealed the deal. The only redeeming qualities were the friendly staff, a decent bathtub, and comfortable beds and pillows.
When searching for accommodations in the "Hotels Near Of Me" category around the Pittsburgh area, the Hyatt Place Pittsburgh Airport / Robinson Mall, located at 6011 Campbells Run Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15205, USA, often appears as a compelling choice. This hotel aims to provide a comfortable and convenient experience for travelers, particularly those flying in and out of Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) or looking to explore the nearby Robinson Mall area.
The environment of the Hyatt Place Pittsburgh Airport / Robinson Mall is a unique aspect that garners mixed reactions from guests. While it is strategically located near the airport and adjacent to significant retail offerings, its specific placement "behind a Kohl's" in a "shady back lot" means it can be somewhat "easy to miss." This tucked-away location, however, can also be perceived as a benefit, offering a degree of separation from the immediate bustle of major roadways. The hotel is situated very close to the Robinson Town Centre and The Mall at Robinson, providing guests with immediate access to a vast array of shopping, dining, and entertainment options within walking distance or a very short drive. This proximity to retail hubs is a major convenience for many guests, offering more to do than a typical standalone airport hotel.
However, a frequently mentioned environmental factor is the "constant plane noise" due to its proximity to the airport, as well as the potential for noise from the nearby highway. While some travelers might find this disruptive, it's often an inherent trade-off for the convenience of being close to an international airport. The parking lot has also been described as having an uneven surface, which might affect the driving experience. Despite these challenges, the hotel's location offers relatively quick access to downtown Pittsburgh, typically around 15-20 minutes, making it feasible for guests to visit attractions like Acrisure Stadium, PNC Park, and cultural institutions.
In terms of services, the Hyatt Place Pittsburgh Airport / Robinson Mall offers a range of amenities designed to enhance guest comfort and convenience. A significant highlight is the complimentary airport shuttle service. While one review noted "limited shuttle run to the airport," official information states the shuttle operates from 5:00 AM to 12:30 AM upon request, aiming to provide flexibility for travelers. It is always advisable for guests to confirm shuttle schedules directly with the front desk to ensure timely airport transfers.
Another highly valued service is the free daily buffet breakfast, which typically includes a variety of hot and cold items. While some reviews have described the breakfast as "okay" or "limited," others have praised it as "nice" and "delicious." This complimentary offering adds significant value, especially for families and budget-conscious travelers. The hotel also provides free Wi-Fi throughout the property, ensuring guests can stay connected. For those who need to work or conduct meetings, a 24-hour business center and flexible meeting space (926 square feet in one meeting room) are available. Additional services include a 24-hour front desk, express check-out, dry cleaning/laundry services, and luggage storage. Notably, the Hyatt Place is a pet-friendly hotel, allowing guests to bring their furry companions for an additional fee, which is a considerable advantage for pet owners.
The features of the Hyatt Place Pittsburgh Airport / Robinson Mall are characteristic of the Hyatt Place brand, focusing on modern design and functional spaces. The hotel boasts 127 contemporary rooms and suites. Guests generally find the rooms to be "nice and clean" with "comfortable beds and pillows." Each guest room is designed for comfort and productivity, featuring a "Cozy Corner" with a sofa-sleeper, a work desk, and essential in-room amenities such as a mini-fridge, coffee maker, and a 42-inch HDTV with premium channels. The bathrooms typically feature a combined shower/bathtub with designer toiletries.
For recreation and wellness, the hotel offers a heated indoor pool, which is often praised by guests as "warm and clean," providing a relaxing activity for families and individuals. A 24-hour fitness center is also available for guests to maintain their workout routines. Onsite dining is provided at The Placery, a restaurant and bar located in the lobby, which serves lunch and dinner with a diverse menu, including options like burgers, salads, and sandwiches. A coffee shop/cafe is also on-site, along with a 24/7 Market Cafe for quick bites and drinks. While some reviews highlight the convenience of having an onsite restaurant, others note that the breakfast spread could be improved.
Customer reviews offer a balanced perspective. Many guests consistently praise the "friendly staff," noting their welcoming and helpful demeanor. Specific mentions of comfortable beds and clean rooms are common positive points. The value for money, especially for the "price was well worth it," is also frequently highlighted. The hotel's proximity to shopping and dining at Robinson Mall is a significant advantage.
However, an objective introduction must also address areas for improvement. The issue of noise, particularly "constant plane noise" and potential highway noise, has been a detractor for some guests, especially those sensitive to sound. A concerning issue raised in some reviews is the presence of "stink bugs" in rooms, both dead and alive, which significantly impacted guest experience. While this might be a seasonal or isolated issue, it's a direct point of concern for cleanliness and pest control. Another recurring critique relates to the airport shuttle's perceived limitations, causing some guests to leave very early to avoid missing flights. Some older reviews also mentioned issues with overall cleanliness in specific areas, such as used soap in showers or glitter on sheets, though many other reviews attest to clean rooms.
In terms of promotional information, the Hyatt Place Pittsburgh Airport / Robinson Mall leverages its brand reputation for modern comfort and convenience. Key promotional aspects include the complimentary daily breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and the complimentary airport shuttle service. The hotel often highlights its spacious suites and the convenience of its location near Robinson Mall, appealing to both leisure travelers looking for shopping and entertainment, and business travelers needing quick airport access. As part of the Hyatt loyalty program (World of Hyatt), guests can also benefit from member rates and earn points for their stays, offering additional value and incentives for repeat visits. The hotel's pet-friendly policy is also a significant promotional point for travelers with pets. While specific short-term promotions may vary, the core offerings of free breakfast and airport shuttle are consistent value propositions.
In conclusion, the Hyatt Place Pittsburgh Airport / Robinson Mall, positioned firmly within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, offers a blend of practical amenities and comfortable accommodations for travelers in the Pittsburgh area. Its strengths lie in its convenient proximity to the airport and extensive shopping/dining options, coupled with a generally friendly staff, comfortable beds, and essential complimentary services like breakfast and airport shuttle. However, potential guests should be aware of the possibility of noise due to its location and occasional reports regarding pest control or shuttle scheduling, and verify current conditions through recent guest reviews. Overall, it remains a valuable option for those seeking a balance of accessibility, comfort, and affordability near Pittsburgh International Airport and the Robinson Mall area.

Apr 27, 2025 · JoelIt's located in a shady back lot behind a shopping center, so it's easy to miss. The rooms were nice and clean, and the beds were comfortable. The only problem was a limited shuttle run to the airport. We ended up leaving really early so we wouldn't miss our flight. For $90, it was well worth it.
Feb 20, 2025 · Andrew KeenerRooms are standard and clean. Proximity to airport is very helpful. The hotel boasted parking and free transport to and from the airport which is why we chose to stay with them before and after our trip. However, when it was time for pick up from the airport no one answered the phone stranding us at the airport. My partner was on hold for over 45 minutes on just one of our attempted calls. The hotel reimbursed our taxi fare. We booked a room to sleep 4, including a pull out couch, however the hotel didn't have enough pillows for everyone.
Feb 23, 2025 · Morgann Clark SchaeferGreat room, wonderful staff, and decent breakfast! We will definitely stay here again! Very clean!
May 10, 2025 · Lesley WeeksStaff was wonderful when we first checked in but it changed later after we had to switch rooms. First we had a big on a pillow then we noticed a bunch of popcorn and food mess left behind the pull out couch that housekeeping didn’t catch until we pulled the sleeper out for my youngest daughter. They gave us a new room but I was so disappointed to see such a mess. Staff was not as easy to work with given the situation. I’ve stayed at many Hyatt’s but this was a big disappointment given the lack of cleanliness of the first room and how staff handled this when I brought this to their attention.
