The rooms aren't tiny and provide a hardwired connection for people who need to work while on vacation or traveling for business. They provide towels and shampoo but there's not much in the way of service besides that. It's not that type of place. They do have a kitchen that's shared with access to plates and cooking utensils which is convenient. There is to be a lounge open on each floor that was roomy and could be used to get out of your room for a little while if needed in case you have no plans for the day but hey have been locked and given the reasoning of a few bad apples taking things from these areas. The host, John, seems to be very nice and replies to your inquiries upon a reasonable amount of time. The doors each have a electronic Smart Lock that requires a code which is given to you upon check-in.
For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Rome, NY area, Independence Hall at 66 Geiger Rd, Rome, NY 13441, USA, presents itself as a distinct accommodation option. Unlike a conventional hotel with extensive services, Independence Hall operates with a focus on providing secure, clean, and affordable lodging, particularly appealing to individuals on extended stays, business travelers, or those seeking a quiet environment. Its location on Geiger Road, near the former Griffiss Air Force Base, positions it conveniently for individuals working at area employers and technology firms.
The environment at Independence Hall prioritizes safety and a no-frills, practical approach to lodging. Guests frequently commend the building's robust security features, noting that a 4-digit electronic Smart Lock code is required to gain entry to the building, ensuring a secure environment for all residents. This system means there's no way to enter without the code, which is provided upon check-in, making it a very safe place to stay. The overall atmosphere is described as quiet and clean, contributing to a peaceful stay. While the property aims for a functional and comfortable environment, it's not designed as a luxury hotel with lavish common areas or extensive public services. This is reflected in guest feedback that mentions a "not that type of place" for comprehensive services beyond the room itself. There are supposed to be lounges on each floor for guests to use, offering a space to relax outside of their rooms. However, recent reviews indicate that these lounges have been locked due to issues with "a few bad apples taking things from these areas." This suggests that while the intention is to provide communal spaces, their accessibility may be limited, impacting the overall environment for some guests.
In terms of services, Independence Hall offers a streamlined approach, focusing on essential needs. Guests receive towels and shampoo in their rooms, covering basic toiletries. A significant advantage, particularly for longer stays, is the shared kitchen facility. This communal kitchen is equipped with access to plates and cooking utensils, allowing guests the convenience of preparing their own meals. This feature can lead to substantial cost savings and offer a more homely experience, which is a major draw for guests. While there aren't extensive concierge services or a traditional front desk with round-the-clock staffing in the conventional sense, guests praise the host, John, for being "very nice" and responsive to inquiries within a reasonable amount of time. This personalized contact can be a benefit for guests seeking direct communication regarding their stay. The hotel's phone number is (315) 867-6141 and mobile phone +1 315-867-6141 for direct contact.
The features of the rooms at Independence Hall are designed for practicality and comfort, especially for working travelers. The rooms are noted to be "not tiny," providing adequate space. A key feature for business travelers or those needing to work remotely is the provision of a hardwired internet connection. This offers a stable and reliable internet experience, which can be more dependable than Wi-Fi in some settings. Each room also has its own electronic Smart Lock, adding an extra layer of individual room security. While rooms are generally described as clean, the emphasis here is on functional cleanliness rather than pristine luxury. It's important to note that Independence Hall may operate more akin to an extended-stay apartment building or guesthouse rather than a typical hotel, given its shared kitchen and limited on-site services. This characteristic aligns with its value proposition as an affordable and secure option for guests in Rome, NY.
Given the nature of Independence Hall, promotional information often highlights its affordability, security, and suitability for longer stays. Its positioning as a "secure building" with controlled access is a major selling point. The provision of shared kitchen facilities and hardwired internet also serve as key features that attract specific types of travelers, particularly those on a budget or needing reliable connectivity for work. While traditional "promotions" like loyalty programs or seasonal discounts seen at larger hotel chains might not apply in the same way, the inherent value comes from its competitive pricing and the inclusion of amenities like kitchen access, which can save guests money on dining out. The positive feedback about the host, John, also acts as a form of positive promotion, emphasizing personalized service and responsiveness, which can be a significant factor for guests when choosing accommodation. The property's location near the Griffiss Business and Technology Park is also a draw for individuals working in that area, highlighting its convenience for specific travel purposes.
In summary, Independence Hall in Rome, NY, found when searching for "Hotels Near Of Me," is a distinctive accommodation offering a secure, quiet, and affordable environment. Its features cater to guests seeking a practical and self-sufficient stay, with spacious rooms, hardwired internet, and a shared kitchen. While it diverges from the traditional hotel model by offering minimal direct services and having some communal areas locked, its strengths lie in its strong security measures, cleanliness, and the cooperative nature of its host. It serves as an excellent option for those prioritizing safety, cost-effectiveness, and functional amenities, particularly for extended visits to the Rome, NY area.

Mar 30, 2025 路 David HeatonThe lounge next to laundry room was horrible. Although it was late night Day hours it's wonderfully kept. All other areas of the building clean. I love the fact it's a secure building and a 4 digit code has to be used to gain entry. So there is no way to enter unless it's used. Very safe, quiet, clean, affordable. The contact person is very cooperative and pleasant
Jan 28, 2022 路 Rustie Story (Italia)I just got here , well i got a room on the third floor , not much option at the moment, room was clean , smelled great, room has great space, i was given the two single beds(not bad, pretty comfortable).great closet space, WAY BETTER THAN ANY HOTEL, and the price you can't beat it. I would of gave it a 5 Star but the restroom is shared. You have to see to understand. Polite Staff. Relax
Oct 07, 2019 路 Fabian MaldonadoThe vending machine was empty which I was slightly disappointed. I had to go get pillows at Walmart because the ones provided were flat and only had one per bed. But it's quiet and cheap 馃檪
