What an awesome lodge! I stayed at the lodge as part of a veterans with disabilities flyfishing group. There were 15 of us total, and we fit well and all maintained our spaces nicely throughout the entire weekend. I was greeted by one of the owners who was taking care of our preparation activities ahead of most people‘s arrival. I was greeted warmly and shown around and given the opportunity to select a room. The interior has such a unique charm that throws back to an earlier time when technology was not around. The decorations and the living style just give it such a wonderful charm. There’s a beautiful little stream that runs down below the cabin that is that plenty of fish for picking. The facility does have Wi-Fi, which certainly helps because the area does not have good cell phone reception. That is certainly not the fault of the lodge, but add to the uniqueness of where you’re staying. God‘s country in Potter County New York is just an amazing place and staying at kettle Creek Lodge and cabins you were in the heart of fishing hunting and other outdoor activities. Well, mention this area is somewhat remote and the ability for assumed essentials is just not there. Gas stations are very rare and are locally about 20 to 30 miles away. Just be aware of that when you’re traveling to the area. Make sure you plan ahead and you arrive at the facility with a full tank of gas, which will get you through all your travels in the area around the weekend or the time you’re staying there. Just seconds up the road there are dozens of pull offs to fish the kettle Creek and other surrounding tributaries. The fishing in the area is phenomenal as are all the local people who are around the area. The rooms were comfortable the bed for fine, and the showers were warm and welcoming after a long day on the creeks. Some room share a bathroom others have their own. There are a couple very nice comfortable common areas throughout the lodge where people can gather and talk and enjoy a fireplace if that’s what you want. On the opposite side is a kitchen and a large dining area that has three large tables with plenty of natural light and peace and quiet as it looks out over the woods. I did not stay in any of the cabins however, I can tell that the cabins are done up and are just like the lodge except for more private. Kettle Creek lodging cabins is my number one area to return to in Potter County in the near future.

Environment and Ambiance:

Kettle Creek Lodge & Cabins is nestled in a wonderfully scenic and somewhat remote area, a key aspect that defines its unique charm. The lodge itself exudes a rustic and timeless ambiance, often described by guests as having "such a unique charm that throws back to an earlier time when technology was not around." The decorations and living style contribute to this wonderful, nostalgic feeling. A "beautiful little stream" flows below the cabin, adding to the picturesque setting and providing opportunities for impromptu fishing. The surrounding environment is characterized by dense woods and the serene beauty of Potter County, making it an ideal escape for those seeking peace and quiet away from urban clamor. While its remote nature means limited cell phone reception, the lodge provides Wi-Fi, an essential amenity that helps guests stay connected when needed. This location places guests directly in the heart of prime fishing, hunting, and various other outdoor activities, appealing to avid nature enthusiasts and those seeking a tranquil retreat. Guests should be aware of the remote nature, as gas stations and other "assumed essentials" are rare and can be 20 to 30 miles away; planning ahead with a full tank of gas upon arrival is advised.

Accommodations and Features:

Kettle Creek Lodge & Cabins offers a variety of accommodation options designed to suit different group sizes and preferences. The main lodge features 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms with a total of 19 beds, making it "well suited for our group" as noted by a guest on a men's retreat. It can be rented as a whole, ideal for "family reunions, church or business retreats or any large group," or individual rooms can be booked on a bed and breakfast basis. Some rooms within the lodge have private bathrooms, while "some room share a bathroom," reflecting the traditional lodge experience. The rooms are described as "comfortable" with beds that are "fine," and showers that are "warm and welcoming after a long day on the creeks." Features within the lodge rooms and common areas include:

  • Large comfortable bedrooms, often with wall-to-wall carpeting.
  • Spacious living areas and a large dining room capable of seating 24 people, offering "plenty of natural light and peace and quiet as it looks out over the woods."
  • A large stone fireplace in one of the common areas, providing a cozy gathering spot.

Services and Amenities:

Kettle Creek Lodge & Cabins offers services and amenities tailored to its remote, outdoor-focused setting:

  • Warm Welcome: Guests are often greeted personally by owners, ensuring a warm and hospitable start to their stay, as noted by a veteran's flyfishing group member who was "greeted warmly and shown around."
  • Complimentary Breakfast: For Bed & Breakfast guests staying in the lodge, a full breakfast is included each morning. Cabins are self-catering.
  • Wi-Fi Access: Critically, the facility does have Wi-Fi, which is a significant advantage in an area with poor cell phone reception, allowing guests to stay connected despite the remote location.
  • Common Areas: Multiple comfortable common areas within the lodge provide ample space for guests to gather, socialize, and relax, whether by a fireplace or in the large dining area overlooking the woods. This makes it "well suited for group sessions and meals."
  • Self-Catering Facilities: The presence of a fully furnished kitchen in the lodge (and cabins) allows guests to prepare their own meals, which is particularly useful given the remote location and limited dining options nearby.
  • Outdoor Amenities: Outside grills and fire rings are available, enhancing the outdoor living experience.
  • On-Site Information: While not explicitly stated, the warm welcome and knowledge of the owners suggest they can provide valuable local information on fishing, hunting, and hiking spots.
It is important for guests to be aware of the following policies:
  • Pets are not allowed at the property (main lodge or cabins).
  • The lodge and cabins are non-smoking facilities.
  • Check-in time for both lodge and cabins is 3:00 PM.
  • Check-out time for both lodge and cabins is 10:00 AM.
  • Reservations can be held with a credit card or a 20% check deposit, payable to Kettle Creek Lodge, Ltd.

  • Hunting and Hiking: Beyond fishing, the area is renowned for hunting and offers extensive hiking opportunities, including direct access to the Susquehannock Trail System (STS), a challenging 85-mile loop trail through Susquehannock State Forest.

Great place to stay for hunting, fishing, and hiking. I was there as part of a men's retreat. The lodge was well suited for our group. We were able to get together comfortably for group sessions and meals.

The perfect getaway! We've been here twice now and like it more than ever. Cozy, affordable cabins in the mountains of the Pennsylvania Wilds, a creek flowing nearby, no cell service distractions, relaxing. The cabins have beds, a fully furnished kitchen with dishes, pots and pans, gas range, and a fridge/freezer. You provide your own linens, ei towels, cloths, sheets, blankets, pillows, as well as food and soap, etc. A propane wall heater keeps your space warm. The owners are friendly down home folks, ready to help you however they can.

Wonderful place and owners. Will be returning soon! For anyone wanting to visit this area. This cabin is well stocked with all the kitchen necessities. A nice picnic table inside, outside and up at the fire pit. Charcoal grill and multiple beds. My only "gripe" would be the fire pit was a little small, and the beds were slightly uncomfortable but that may be just personal preference and I wouldn't dock a star for that at all. We will be returning with maybe a mattress pad. The owners were friendly welcoming and even gave me a call before coming down to make sure they gave me any info and told me things about the area. Including getting gas an hr before getting there just so we were good. They had directions and helpful notes in the cabin.

We had a large group visiting Cherry Springs SP for night sky viewing at end of July and stayed at the lodge. It is very nicely maintained and managed, and the owners Laura and Steve are a super friendly couple, and are resourceful and accommodating! The whole experience turned out to be perfect and I definitely would recommend this place for lodging needs if you are visiting the area for fun!
