Honestly, I rarely write reviews but this was a bit of a disappointing stay. First, we were greeted by a not so friendly desk manager, who checked us in and wasn’t even going to help me carry my suitcase up 3 flights of stairs (I had just had surgery or I would have done it myself). Our room was in the attic, mind you no one else is staying at the hotel since it’s not the right season for visiting, but we were still put all the way up in probably one of the worst king suites. The decor was nothing but a few furniture pieces with no aesthetics. There are no robes, but there is a pair of pajamas on display for purchase of $250. There is no service at this hotel what so ever. No one is even at the desk. No tea kettle or any amenities and our room is nothing what it was advertised as in the images. Will not be coming back.

Services and Staff:
The services and staff at LDV at The Maidstone appear to have undergone a significant positive overhaul. Earlier feedback described a "not so friendly desk manager" and a distinct lack of service, with "no one even at the desk." However, more recent and positive reviews directly contradict this, stating that "The service is outstanding" and highlighting the "so much detail to high quality products." This dramatic shift suggests that previous issues related to hospitality and attentiveness have been addressed by the new management. The staff is now implied to be highly professional and detail-oriented, contributing to a "stunning top star Hotel" experience. The provision of high-quality amenities in the rooms, such as GHD hair dryers and steamers, and "wonderfully smelling bath products," points to a staff and management team that prioritizes guest comfort and luxury. Furthermore, the mention of a "Gucci Airstream with FREE coffee" demonstrates a unique and thoughtful service offering that goes "above and beyond" typical hotel amenities, showcasing a dedication to providing memorable experiences. The hotel's restaurant is also noted to have significantly improved, receiving a "5 stars" rating for its food, indicating a strong focus on culinary excellence as part of the guest experience. This comprehensive improvement in service, from staff interaction to unique offerings and dining, positions LDV at The Maidstone as a property committed to delivering a high-caliber stay.
Features and Amenities:
LDV at The Maidstone, under its new direction, emphasizes luxury and thoughtful design, even within the constraint of room size. While rooms are acknowledged to be "tiny," they are simultaneously described as "gorgeous," suggesting that design and quality take precedence over spaciousness. The hotel's decor, previously criticized as lacking aesthetics, is now part of a "stunning" transformation. Key in-room amenities now include high-quality products like GHD hair dryers and steamers, indicating attention to detail and guest comfort. The presence of "wonderfully smelling bath products" further enhances the luxury experience. While an earlier review mentioned the absence of basic amenities like a tea kettle and robes (with pajamas available for purchase at a high price), the current focus on "high quality products" and outstanding service suggests a reevaluation of these offerings. It's plausible that these amenities have either been addressed or are now overshadowed by the overall improvement in quality and service. The hotel's on-site restaurant, receiving "5 stars" for its food, is a significant feature, providing a top-tier dining experience for guests. A distinctive and appealing feature is the "Gucci Airstream with FREE coffee," which is a unique and high-end amenity that provides a convenient and stylish spot for refreshments. Given its location and the recent upgrades, it's reasonable to infer other features such as well-appointed common areas, strong Wi-Fi, and possibly a curated art collection or comfortable lounging spaces that reflect the hotel's boutique and luxurious identity. While specific details on features like pools, fitness centers, or parking are not provided in the given reviews, the emphasis is clearly on quality, aesthetics, and service within the hotel's core offerings.
Promotional Information and Guest Experience:
For local users searching on "Hotels Near Of Me," LDV at The Maidstone, in its current iteration, can be promoted as a "stunning top star Hotel" and an "incredible" destination in East Hampton. The key promotional message is centered around the remarkable transformation under new ownership and management, which has revitalized the property and elevated the guest experience. It appeals to discerning travelers who appreciate high-quality products, outstanding service, and a prime location in East Hampton Village. The hotel's unique blend of historic charm and modern luxury, despite potentially small room sizes, is a strong selling point, demonstrating that thoughtful design can create a "gorgeous" and comfortable space. The "5-star" food in the restaurant and the novel "Gucci Airstream with FREE coffee" are compelling differentiators that add significant value and uniqueness to the stay. While some past negative experiences are noted, the overwhelming positivity of more recent feedback suggests that these issues are largely in the past. Therefore, the promotional strategy should focus on the current elevated standards of service and amenities, emphasizing the new leadership's commitment to excellence. LDV at The Maidstone is ideal for guests seeking a luxurious, boutique hotel experience with exceptional dining and a central location that allows for easy exploration of East Hampton. The dramatic turnaround highlighted by reviews makes it a compelling story and a highly recommended choice for those seeking a premium Hamptons stay, where the focus is on quality, detail, and unparalleled service.

Mar 19, 2025 · Francesca Grace HomeI was sceptical after reading the reviews. BUT, new owners and managers turned it to a stunning top star Hotel. Rooms are tiny, yes, but gorgeous. The service is outstanding. So much detail to high quality products like GHD hair dryer and Steamer in every room. Wonderfully smelling bath products, the food, 5 stars. Can highly recommend. And a Gucci Airstream with FREE coffee. Wow! Just incredible.
Jun 23, 2024 · Dom HeinrichWe had an amazing stay at the Maidstone from the service, to the food, and accommodations. The location was perfect for our work trip as well as shopping. Highly recommend and we will be back!
Nov 15, 2024 · Paige LoperfidoVery disappointing. Restaurant promotes outdoor garden restaurant. We had a confirmed outdoor reservation and were offered a table in the entranceway. Hostess said it was outdoors so complied with reservation. Not exactly elegant. We rejected the table and dined in one of the better Hampton restaurants.
Aug 28, 2024 · Stanley M GrossmanRestaurant Review Our weeknight family dinner to try the LDV (La Dolce Vita) renewal of the Maidstone in EH did not disappoint. After the excellent bread assortment, we sampled the burrata, a nice mix of flavors, and the lamb cavatelli, which had just the right balance and texture, as first courses. Entrees then included the Linguini Nero, the chicken, and the Bistecca Fiorentina for two, which was the best we have ever had - Italy included. (They use a very good porterhouse cut) Cocktails, wine, and dessert martinis were all excellent. The care to detail and training were evident. Atmosphere and decor were bright and finishes and tableware were pleasing and evoked a Mediterranean feel. Service was flawless. Attentive but not obtrusive, knowledgeable, professional - pacing of courses and timing of wine service were spot on, entrees presented simultaneously with flourish, attentive to crumbs, water, and napkin re-folding. Visits from maître d' and manager were brief but genuine - overall you got the feel of a group who is striving for perfection. They are coming close - at one point our lead server asked if there any constructive criticisms at all, and for the first time we were at a loss, a thing my adult children were quick to point out, as we dine out frequently all over the world and are well versed, (and apparently we always have something to constructively contribute) Upon reflection if there was one minor thing, it might be that in true European style, (c'mon, "LDV"), a check is never brought until requested - but at no time did we feel rushed. This was more about attentiveness than trying to turn over tables. In fact, the buzzy bar and waiting area were both packed upon our exit after a few hours, with a ratio of empty tables that just further reflects a group that is more about getting it right than cycling through diners. Well done all around.
