I don’t even know where to start. The pictures are inaccurate to what the property looks like. The hotel is completely run down, parking lot has pot holes and homeless people all around it ALL THE TIME, and the parking lot wall says “child predator rv” in spray paint. When we drove in the first night there was a part of the parking lot with police tape lined off with a biohazard team scrubbing the floor and police finishing reports up for god knows what. The door didn’t lock and the only thing was the top latch to keep the door secured and the key swipe was broken and took minutes to work each time. Hot water was hit or miss. Towels were dirty upon arrival but yet we were charged $22 for “staining towels”. It was advertised for a hot tub but the front desk staff told me they “never had a hot tub” when you can clearly see one was filled in. The day we were supposed to check in, the front office “closed early for no reason” so the security guard had to check me in, it was 4pm and he said they had gone to lunch and never came back. In fact, the front desk staff looked like they were never there. Had called multiple times and emailed about access to WiFi, never received an answer. At one point a lady was coming through and collecting rent, I let her know we already paid for the hotel. Thankfully we took our own trash out, I’m SURE we would’ve been charged for that. It worth the extra couple dollars to stay in a real hotel. DO NOT COME HERE, it’s not worth the money, I promise.
Hello, fellow Arizonans! When you're looking for a place to stay in our sprawling Valley of the Sun, whether for a temporary housing solution, a quick stopover, or a budget-conscious stay, you likely prioritize value, convenience, and a comfortable experience. Today, we're going to take a candid look at Ocotillo Apartments & Hotel, located right here in Phoenix. As locals, it's important to have a clear picture of what to expect from any establishment, and this overview aims to provide just that – a factual and engaging guide to help you decide if Ocotillo Apartments & Hotel is the right fit for your needs.
Ocotillo Apartments & Hotel presents itself as a practical option for those seeking an affordable place to stay in Phoenix. As the name suggests, it caters to both short-term hotel guests and longer-term apartment residents, which can create a unique environment. Customer reviews offer a mixed perspective, with some highlighting affordability and basic amenities, while others raise significant concerns about property conditions and service consistency. This dual nature means that experiences can vary, and setting realistic expectations is key. This article will provide you with the publicly available information and customer insights to help you navigate your decision.
Ocotillo Apartments & Hotel is situated at 1711 W Bell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85023, USA. This location places it in the North Phoenix area, specifically within the Deer Valley vicinity. Bell Road is a major thoroughfare in Phoenix, offering easy access to Interstate 17 (I-17), a primary north-south freeway that connects various parts of the Valley. This makes the hotel reasonably accessible by car for those traveling from different parts of Phoenix or surrounding cities.
For those relying on public transportation, there are bus stops along Bell Road, though public transit options might require some planning to reach major downtown attractions. The hotel is noted to be near various local amenities, including restaurants and shopping centers along Bell Road. Specific nearby points of interest include Turf Paradise horse racing track, and it is within reasonable driving distance of attractions like Happy Valley Towne Centre and Metrocenter Mall. While the proximity to major roads is a plus for car owners, some customer reviews have raised concerns about the immediate surrounding environment, mentioning issues such as potholes in the parking lot and the presence of homeless individuals. It is also important to note that the property offers free self-parking on site, a convenience for guests with vehicles, and has a gated parking area, which some reviews find reassuring for safety. However, the blend of apartment residents and hotel guests can sometimes lead to parking challenges.
Specific, regularly advertised promotions for Ocotillo Apartments & Hotel are not widely published or highlighted in the available public data or customer reviews. As a budget-oriented property that functions as both a hotel and apartments, their pricing model often relies on offering competitive daily or weekly rates rather than elaborate promotional packages.
However, it is always recommended for interested individuals to contact the hotel directly using the provided phone numbers. Sometimes, direct inquiries can reveal unadvertised discounts for extended stays, or if booking through various online travel agencies, there might be specific platform-exclusive deals. Given the feedback about direct cash deposits and other charges, it is crucial to confirm all pricing, fees, and deposit policies directly with the hotel staff before booking to avoid any surprises. Always clarify what is included in the rate and any potential additional charges for amenities like pet fees or "staining towels" as mentioned in a review, to ensure a transparent understanding of the total cost.

For Arizonans, Ocotillo Apartments & Hotel presents itself as a very budget-conscious option for specific circumstances, rather than a typical hotel experience. If your primary concern is finding the absolute lowest price for a place to sleep in Phoenix and you are willing to manage potential inconveniences, this could be a consideration.
This property might be suitable for locals who are experiencing temporary housing gaps due to a move, unexpected home repairs, or are looking for a very low-cost, extended-stay solution and are prepared for a no-frills environment. The apartment-style offerings with microwaves and mini-fridges could be beneficial for those needing kitchen access on a budget. Furthermore, for individuals with pets who struggle to find affordable pet-friendly accommodation, Ocotillo Apartments & Hotel does offer this feature, which can be a significant advantage.
However, it is crucial for locals to approach Ocotillo Apartments & Hotel with full awareness of the highly mixed and often negative customer reviews. Concerns such as property disrepair, questionable cleanliness, security issues (e.g., police tape, visible graffiti, homeless individuals around the property), unreliable utilities like hot water, and problematic staff interactions regarding deposits and check-ins are repeatedly cited. The lack of consistent front desk presence, issues with basic room functionality (broken locks, non-working key swipes), and claims of deposit scams are serious red flags that cannot be ignored.
Therefore, while the price point may be attractive, locals should weigh the potential savings against the reported issues with safety, comfort, and service. It is highly recommended to read a wide range of recent reviews, call the hotel directly to confirm specific room conditions and policies (especially cash deposits), and perhaps even consider physically viewing the property if possible, before committing to a stay. For many Arizonans, spending "the extra couple dollars to stay in a real hotel" might be a more sensible and stress-free investment for any lodging need.

Jun 07, 2025 · Brittany RuebThey will steal your cash only deposit and make up an excuse, buyers beware, they're scammers. Housekeeping never came once. Parking is impossible because it's an apartment and motel. The hot water was non existent and the water pressure was extremely low. There were stains on the bed. They're not legit, this place needs shut down. Look at the other reviews. I would not recommend this place.
Apr 27, 2025 · Kevin CollyerThe whole place is a dump… The $100 security deposit you give is non-refundable . They lie about the internet . If it goes out too bad it’s not their problem . They lie and scam to get more money out of you . They break things in your room and blame you for it and try to charge you . Don’t get me started on the roach infestations. The staff and security are total jokes unless you are Hispanic . Sheets and towels are dirty and stained . We never seen housekeeping . Not accessible for the handicap at all. I would rather of stayed in my car then stay there . All around just nasty women at the front desk. They are suppose to be there until 5pm but leave early most of the week . They shut the water off at least one day a week all day long. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST
Apr 13, 2025 · My name is Jeff 420This place is harder than hell to get into. It is like Fort Knox. Rented a room and it doesn't even have a coffee pot. And upon check-in they asked us not to dirty the towels. What the hell does that even mean? And they only take cash deposits. I do not recommend this place and we'll never be back.
Mar 31, 2025 · Christina McDonaldI am a frequent customer to the motel 6.. I have never ran into a problem about checking in 30 min early. I have paid for my reservation as I always do online. But this is the only one I have been in that has tried to charge me 20 Xtra bucks to chk in 30 min early. It's ridiculous and unprofessional I could understand if it was 3 hours or 5 hours but 30 min. Now that I'm standing outside the woman at the front locked the door and now has 4 groups of customers waiting. At the door. This woman is unprofessional and needs to be handled.
