DO NOT STAY HERE – COMPLETE NIGHTMARE! This place is an absolute disgrace. When I checked in, I found out someone had broken into a room and stolen medication, which was bad enough. But when I told the staff I didn’t feel safe and wanted a refund, they flat-out refused and blamed their own maintenance team for “forgetting to close the door.” Let that sink in—they ADMITTED their own negligence but still refused to make it right. This place clearly doesn’t care about guest safety, security, or basic human decency. If their staff is too incompetent to lock doors, what else are they failing at? Cleaning? Pest control? Who knows what else is going wrong behind the scenes. If you value your belongings, your safety, or even a shred of respect as a paying customer, STAY FAR AWAY. This isn’t just bad service—it’s downright dangerous. Google should let me give zero stars.

For many Arizonans, particularly those residing in the expansive Phoenix metropolitan area, the Rodeway Inn Phoenix North I-17 presents a highly specific, utility-driven accommodation option. It's not a resort for a lavish staycation, nor is it designed for a romantic weekend getaway. Instead, its suitability for locals stems from its pragmatic value in certain situations.
Firstly, its primary draw is its affordability. For individuals or families on a very strict budget, or those facing unexpected circumstances that require temporary lodging (such as home repairs, a quick business trip without a large corporate budget, or needing a temporary base during a local move), the Rodeway Inn offers a significantly lower price point compared to many other hotels in the area. For locals, minimizing expenses for a functional short-term stay can be a top priority.
Secondly, the hotel's location directly off I-17 is a major advantage for Arizonans. We understand the importance of freeway access for navigating our vast city efficiently. Whether you need to commute to a different part of Phoenix for work, visit family members across town, or simply need an easy on-and-off point for travel within the state, this location is incredibly convenient. It saves time and simplifies travel logistics that locals are all too familiar with.
Thirdly, for those who simply need a bed and basic amenities, this hotel serves that purpose. While past reviews have certainly highlighted significant issues regarding room condition, cleanliness, and safety, it is understood that budget accommodations may come with certain trade-offs. For some locals, if the price is right and the need is urgent, a straightforward room with air conditioning, a TV, and a private bathroom (even if basic) might suffice for a short period. The availability of an outdoor pool, laundry facilities, and free parking adds practical value.
However, it is crucial for locals to approach a stay here with eyes wide open, having thoroughly read recent reviews and perhaps even calling the hotel directly to confirm specific room features or security measures. Given the feedback about safety concerns and inconsistent room conditions, this hotel would be best suited for situations where the absolute lowest cost and prime freeway access are paramount, and where guests are prepared for a no-frills experience. For female travelers or families, the specific warnings from past guests about safety and "sketchy activity" should be taken very seriously when considering this option. Ultimately, it’s a choice for locals who prioritize extreme budget-consciousness and direct I-17 accessibility above all else for a temporary lodging need.

Feb 27, 2025 · HAMID ZAMANINASABJust dont. Our rooms had no bathroom doors, period, totally removed [she moved us rooms and they were also GONE], zero toilet paper in any of the rooms. We had to go back up front for that and wait. And we had to wait for the lady because she kept talking with someone else behind the desk. She would barely attend to us. There were holes through the hotel room. And there was sketchy activity happening all around. if your not here for a one night stand or something else sketchy-run, dont walk. We were going to check out and just leave but it was too late and it's just us guys so we needed the sleep. Just wanted to advise the ladies and families. Stay somewhere else. 4/21/2025
Apr 23, 2025 · Michael AllenIf I could leave -15 I would!!! Never have I ever been scared that we would be robbed or broken into before!! , firstly, everyone kept coming up to the desk about broken keys, got our keys and decided to check it out first. 1)tried the key but it turned yellow but the door still opened! 2)bullet holes on the door 3) peep hole was GONE and had tissue stuffed in it… and we haven’t even made it in the door!!! 4)dirty room, stickers everywhere, graffiti poorly covered, HOLES in the walls. 5)shower rod was bent and not fixed, 6)lights barely worked 7)floor pieces were shattered 8)stank really bad 9) HLL NO. We checked straight out after 1 minute and met w a super nice couple who had been behind us before. The checked their room and literally said it wasn’t clean and bed want made and seemed people were still in the room. WHAT A JOKE. WISH WISH WISH I took pictures but could not stand another minute in there!!
Mar 23, 2025 · moraal TMy experience at this establishment was highly disappointing. The manager's demeanor was unnecessarily authoritative, as if she were running a five-star luxury resort, while treating guests with a level of disregard that was both unprofessional and off-putting. Her attitude suggested the hotel was in high demand, yet it was clear that filling rooms to capacity would be a challenge even on their best days. The facility itself leaves much to be desired. A significant number of rooms had serious plumbing issues, with some restrooms completely out of order and others barely functional—suitable only for minimal use, provided a plunger was readily available. These observations were made within just ten minutes of standing in the so-called "lobby," which more closely resembles a correctional facility check-in than a welcoming hotel reception. Overall, the lack of hospitality, combined with poor maintenance, makes it difficult to recommend this place to anyone seeking a comfortable and accommodating stay.
Jan 20, 2025 · Danae HWe booked this place through the Choice app for a king room with kitchenette. When we got there, the place looked very rundown, the lobby was closed with just a window open with numerous signs about guns and violence posted, not a good neighborhood! They said only ones room was available and when we looked at it, it was with 2 beds, no TV and full disrepair! Probably why it was shown cheaper on the Choice app, should have been more clear on details. We cancelled our reservation and found a different hotel!
