The smoking outside of the rooms is repulsive and is a health hazard. The beds are of poor quality and awful to sleep in. The tag on the mattresses say "hospital deluxe". I have faith that the new owners will renovate and clean the place up. The last owners, Debbie and Dennis were kind, ran a tight ship and cared for the grounds of the building. It used to be very cute outside. The grounds now seem to be unkept. The staff at the front desk were very nice and helpful upon check in as well as the cleaning staff. The rooms are clean. The only major issue that I have here is the gross smoking, extremely uncomfortable beds and the condition of the rooms. I would pay $70 tops to stay here. Let's hope that the new owners give this place the revitalization that it needs. It truly could be a gem. On the plus side, the place is very quiet. We will not be staying again until it is revitalized and cared for. It is not worth the money. We hope that we can return when change is made.

Common amenities found in most rooms include:
It is important to acknowledge, based on recent customer reviews, that prior to the current ownership, guests experienced issues with the quality of beds, described as "poor quality" and "uncomfortable," and expressed concerns about the overall condition of rooms, including reports of mold on bathroom ceilings, spiders and bugs, and significant cobwebs. There were also complaints about smoke from outside rooms entering through door cracks. The new owners are actively addressing these concerns through renovations and a commitment to revitalization. The phrase "The tag on the mattresses say 'hospital deluxe'" from a review could indicate a standard commercial mattress, but the perception of comfort was negative for some guests.
Otter Creek Inn offers a range of services and amenities that enhance the guest experience:
The current management has explicitly announced a "GRAND REOPENING" with a target date of May 16, 2025, and promotional "80 ROOM RATES" as part of their revitalization efforts. This indicates a clear commitment to addressing past concerns and improving the guest experience. They are offering new extended stay discounts, including $60 off for a 5-night stay, $100 off for a 7-night stay, and $220 off for a 14-night stay, specifically for direct bookings from their website or by calling their office (these discounts do not apply to third-party reservations). This incentivizes direct booking and suggests a forward-looking approach.
Past reviews, while critical of certain aspects like bed quality, smoking policies, and cleanliness issues (mold, bugs, cobwebs), also highlighted positive aspects such as the "super sweet" staff at check-in and the cleaning staff, who were noted for being "very nice and helpful." The quiet atmosphere of the place was also appreciated. The strategic location is a consistent plus, being "walking distance to downtown, restaurants, nightspots, boat tours to two castles, shopping, boat rentals, a park with a public sand beach, and a dive park." The presence of a marina and easy access to fishing are also strong points. The property is also a short walk to Scenic View Park and near attractions like Boldt Castle and Yacht House (about 0.8 miles away), and within a short drive of the Thousand Islands Winery and the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton.
The new owners are actively working to transform Otter Creek Inn into a "gem," as envisioned by previous guests. The planned renovations, including the removal of carpets from each room and a redesigned front office with a lounging area, suggest a fresh approach to cleanliness and comfort. While past reviews raised valid concerns, the current leadership's commitment to revitalization indicates a positive trajectory. For travelers seeking an affordable and convenient base in Alexandria Bay with direct river access and proximity to attractions, especially those who appreciate visible efforts towards improvement, Otter Creek Inn aims to become a comfortable and reliable choice in the "Hotels Near Of Me" category.

Jul 10, 2024 · Danielle StoutThe lady was super sweet at check-in and it’s a great location. But the rooms were rough. Mold covers the ceiling in the bathroom. Had to kill spiders and bugs all around the room before settling in. Large cobwebs lining the floors all around the room. People smoke right outside the room and the door has cracks in the border so the smoke comes right inside the room. Hair in the “clean” beds upon arrival. Overall, the rooms could use a lot of work.. are rather gross, but the service we did have upon arrival was great.
Jul 07, 2024 · Rebecca HydeWe recently went up to Alexandria Bay for Pirates Weekend for the first time. Everywhere was booked and I got this room last minute on a very very busy weekend. If I did find a room there was a minimum of a two-night stay with very expensive prices. I was happy to get just 1 night and it was a affordable $188.00 . I would expect that for the weekend we chose to go up on. Outside of facility was very clean. Had a nice quiet view of the creek. Walking distance was great to town so i could leave my car in a safe place . I see previous complaints about the noise but we went up on the busiest weekend of the year for drinking and our hotel was very quiet after hours. Rooms need some updating but were clean. I would stay there again.
Aug 11, 2024 · Amanda AdamsBrought food to grill but couldn't use the common area at all during our stay as people were passed out drunk laying out there with piles of beer cans all over. Laying on table drunk with pants down. Very noisy after quiet times stated. One group was right near the office and other on 2nd level. They were yelling, laughing, hooting and hollering, etc. Husband fishing off dock and people in common area making rude comments to him. Housekeeping lady had no disinfectant on cart. Wonder what we brought home with us. Not an enjoyable stay. It was a nightmare.
Jun 24, 2024 · Laura KulasMy stay at Otter Creek Inn was Very Nice. The Boat docks are floating docks and this helps getting into and out of boat. The rooms are very clean (compared to some of the places I have stayed in my travels). Easy walking distance to downtown. The staff is courteous and helpful to my questions. Nice quiet place to stay. I would difinitely stay there again.
