This hotel caters to a diverse range of travelers, from families looking for a fun and affordable getaway to individuals seeking a convenient stopover. The guest experience at Pocono Plaza Inn appears to be quite varied, making an objective overview essential for potential visitors.
Located on West Main Street, the Pocono Plaza Inn benefits from its proximity to Stroudsburg's central area and major roadways, offering accessibility to local attractions and routes leading into the heart of the Poconos. The hotel is noted to be "conveniently situated just off the Interstate 80 highway," which is a plus for travelers in transit. Stroudsburg itself is a historic borough, serving as a gateway to the natural beauty and recreational opportunities of the Pocono Mountains. Guests can easily access skiing, hiking, water parks, and various outdoor activities within a reasonable driving distance.
However, immediate environmental impressions around the hotel can be mixed. While the area provides practical access to amenities, some guest reviews suggest that parts of the property or its immediate surroundings might appear "tacky" or "run down," with mentions of "graffiti and trash in the empty lot behind the hotel." It's important for guests to manage expectations regarding the external aesthetics, understanding that the hotel's primary value proposition lies more in its affordability and internal amenities than in a pristine external setting.
The Pocono Plaza Inn strives to provide a range of services and features, particularly appealing to families and those seeking recreational options on-site. The hotel boasts an "indoor pool" which is a significant draw, especially for families with children. Reviews highlight the pool as "great and amazing if you have kids," and it's a popular amenity for relaxation and fun. Additionally, the hotel offers a "game room" where guests can play "pool with family or friends," and it also provides "games" for children, ensuring entertainment for various age groups.
For adult guests, the hotel includes a "sauna" for relaxation and a "fitness area that is just perfect for getting strong," catering to wellness needs. These facilities, when fully operational and well-maintained, contribute significantly to the guest experience. The hotel also offers essential amenities such as "free Wi-Fi," "free parking," and laundry facilities, enhancing the convenience of a stay.
Room amenities commonly found at the Pocono Plaza Inn include "refrigerators, microwaves, beverage centers, flat screens with cable," and "large private baths," providing guests with fundamental comforts. Some rooms are said to offer "views of the tropical pool area." While some reviews mention comfortable beds, there can be inconsistencies, with one guest noting "paper thin" blankets.
The hotel is also equipped to handle business needs with a "business center" and "meeting rooms," making it suitable for corporate travelers or events. It has a "24-hour reception," which is convenient for late arrivals or early departures.
Regarding dining, some reviews indicate that "breakfast" is available, and some guests have had "great breakfast." While a specific restaurant is mentioned as serving "Italian dishes," the availability and quality of on-site dining can vary, and guests should be prepared to explore nearby international restaurants.
Despite some of the mixed feedback concerning the property's condition, customer service at the Pocono Plaza Inn frequently receives positive remarks. Guests describe staff as "great," "very happy and spunky," and note that they "bring a smile" to their faces. This emphasis on friendly and accommodating staff can significantly enhance a stay, particularly for guests who may encounter minor issues with facilities. The willingness of staff to "perfectly accommodate" late-night arrivals and ensure guests "have everything you need" for a road trip reflects a dedication to hospitality.
The Pocono Plaza Inn appears to promote itself as a "fun experience with family and friends," emphasizing its recreational facilities and the welcoming nature of its staff. It targets travelers looking for an economical stay where value is placed on amenities like the pool and game room, rather than luxurious finishes. The hotel aims to be a "convenient lodging" choice for those visiting Stroudsburg, accommodating "families and a variety of different groups yearly."
However, it is crucial for potential guests to be aware of the mixed reviews, particularly regarding maintenance and cleanliness, with some guests reporting issues like unpleasant odors in hallways ("smells like curry"), cold shower water, or general perceptions of the hotel being "tacky" or "janky productions." There are also mentions of parts of the building being "not in use and looks abandoned" and ongoing construction or renovations affecting amenity availability. It is advisable to inquire about the current status of facilities, such as the pool heater, before booking, especially if certain amenities are a primary reason for choosing the hotel. Ultimately, the Pocono Plaza Inn aims to be a functional and entertaining choice for its price point, with the quality of the stay often depending on individual expectations and room assignment.

Jul 10, 2024 · princess gonzaOkay so basically I LOVE this place. The pools are great and amazing if you have kids. Speaking of kids, they have an area where you can play pool with family or friends, and your kids can play with the games they have! But mostly for the adults and maybe kids they have a sauna. They have a fitness area that is just perfect for getting strong. Customer service is great, most of them are very happy and spunky! They bring a smile to my face when I see them. Plus, I think they have breakfast and when I occasionally wake up early I had some great breakfast😋. I love the beds and they were so comfy the bathroom in my room was just great. Overall my experience at this hotel has to be a 5-STAR⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!! Come here for a fun experience with family and friends I’m 100% sure you would love it here!
Aug 23, 2023 · Jennifer LovescatsThis hotel is my favorite hotel it's like stepping into a time machine and traveling to the late 70's the atmosphere is a little sketchy, but the property is so cool! The price is on point, and the hotel staff have always been very professional and courteous. The tiki bar and conversation pit are so awesome!
Jun 17, 2024 · Rocky DonicaMy dad has brought me here more times than I can count. You pay for what you get. There are quite a few things that should be fixed, but Its still a very enjoyable place to stay at. All the times I’ve stayed here have been so fun and the staff started upgrading our rooms to be by the pool😃 We will keep coming back.
Aug 06, 2022 · just yazzyOnline pictures were deceiving. Rooms smelled, weren't very clean, doors didn't make me feel very secure. The only good thing about this place was the girl at the front desk. The Inn was booked solid with what appeared to be a large family reunion/birthday bash and she was flooded with people- she graciously dealt with some people who were difficult, to say the least. She was able to move us from the first room offered to us because it smelled horrid. Our new room still smelled but not as bad. We had a second room for the rest of our party and that room had a smell as well. The pool area looked like it might be nice, but we didn't visit because it was taken over by the large party that weekend. I would never stay here again.
