I stayed at the Quality Inn in Colchester on May 25, 2025, and I must say it was a nightmare—truly the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel. The issues I encountered were not just minor inconveniences; they were significant failures in hospitality that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. From the moment I checked in, the problems began. The air conditioning in my room was non-functional, which made for an uncomfortable stay. To add insult to injury, the refrigerator was leaking, and I found stains on my sheets. When I brought these issues to the attention of the management, I was offered a mere 25% discount on my room. This felt inadequate, especially considering that I had been double-charged—initially quoted $125 but charged $350 instead. I have to emphasize that my sister works in hospitality at an IHG hotel, and it’s clear that IHG holds its properties to a higher standard than what I experienced at this Quality Inn. The lack of professionalism from the staff, particularly the manager, Julie, was astonishing. When my sister called ahead to inquire about my situation, she was informed by the staff that Julie was not supportive and discouraged them from problem-solving, telling them to simply inform guests that she would address the issues when she arrived. The response I received from Julie when I raised my concerns was dismissive. Rather than offering solutions, she explained that switching rooms wouldn’t help because it would still be hot, effectively saying it was a “lose-lose situation.” This kind of attitude is unacceptable in the hospitality industry. I strongly urge the franchise and corporate owners to take a serious look at the management of this hotel. The negative reviews speak for themselves, and if changes aren’t made, I fear this establishment will struggle to survive. I would encourage anyone considering a stay here to read the reviews carefully and consider alternatives, such as the Holiday Inn Express by IHG, where I know I would never encounter such issues. I will be reaching out to human resources, the Choice brand, and booking platforms to report this experience. It is truly disappointing to witness such poor management and a lack of basic hospitality standards. Good luck to you, but without significant changes, I fear for the future of this hotel.

As a Quality Inn property, the hotel generally aims to provide a range of standard services and amenities typical of the brand. These typically include:
However, it is crucial to note that recent customer reviews highlight significant inconsistencies and issues with the delivery of these services. Guests have reported non-functional air conditioning, leaking refrigerators, and stained sheets. There are also mentions of issues with heating calibration causing rooms to be excessively hot, and staff, particularly management, being perceived as unhelpful or dismissive when problems are raised. These reviews suggest that while the advertised services are in place, their quality and the hotel's ability to resolve issues promptly and professionally have been a source of significant guest dissatisfaction.

Despite these advertised features, the customer reviews indicate significant challenges. The most prominent issue is the heating/cooling system, with guests reporting rooms being excessively hot due to heating units being stuck on one setting and a lack of functional air conditioning. This directly impacts comfort, a fundamental feature of any hotel. Other reported issues like leaking refrigerators and stained linens point to concerns with room maintenance and cleanliness. The perceived lack of professionalism and problem-solving from management, as described in the reviews, significantly detracts from the overall guest experience, regardless of the physical amenities available.

It is recommended to contact Quality Inn Colchester - Burlington directly at (802) 316-8004 or +1 802-316-8004 to inquire about current rates, promotions, and to explicitly ask about the status of common issues such as air conditioning functionality and room cleanliness, especially if considering a stay in warmer months. May 23, 2025 · Courtney ButlerWe were in town for me to have surgery the next morning at UVM. We checked in and the desk clerk was very nice. When we opened to door to our room it was like walking into a furnace. The heat was so high you couldn't breathe. We contacted the front desk and were told that there had been a recent freeze so they had calibrated all the units to stay on heat only. We told him there was no way we could stay in that room with the heat that high(82). He said he would call maintenance but no one ever showed. The next time we went down to the front desk a new guy was there and all he could say was "nothing I can do, sorry." So our choices were burn alive or turn it off and freeze to death. Needless to say, we turned it off and brought an extra blanket from our car and toughed it out. This should have been told to us when we checked in but nothing was said. I had surgery early the next morning and was already stressed from that, then to have to spend a sleepless night when I should have been resting and preparing was not a great experience. Very miserable night, and for the price we paid, should have been different. I know someone from the hotel will respond to this saying they will take my rating into consideration for future stays. That won't help with the miserable night we have already stayed. Give me a refund and then I'll be impressed. I do not recommend this hotel AT ALL.
Feb 22, 2025 · Vicki GibsonMe and my husband planned a two night stay here. The second we went into our first room we instantly noticed how gross it was. The floors clearly weren't cleaned which then made us wonder what else was half cleaned. You could clearly see all the dirt and finger nails on the ground. They tried to give us 2 other rooms and they were just as bad or worse(one smelled like someone pissed all over the room). Not to mention all the dirt all over the floor we also found a bedbug on the sheets. My husband works for ORKIN so he knew right away. After seeing 3 different rooms that were all completely filthy and had clear evidence of bed bugs we decided we had enough and want a refund. They told us no and still charged us for two nights. Management and house keeping here is absolutely horrible. We eneded up going to comfort in and got a way better room for the same price. My advice avoided this place at all cost. Go to the comfort in. We still are being charged for 2 nights when we never even stayed 2 mins in one room. I'd also like to mention the person at the front literally went into a room with us that clearly was dirty and though nothing was wrong with it. This place deserves 0 stars.
Apr 28, 2025 · Katherine LemeshCheck in/out was easy. The desk clerk was very friendly and funny. He was quick to give recommendations on where to eat and where to go. The only negative thing I can say is that I did not have the ability to control the temperature in the room.
May 02, 2025 · Denise ChildsAbsolutely disgusting, the beds were dirty, did not appear to be washed and there was black mold all over the AC units. Totally unacceptable, my team didn't even feel comfortable staying there due to lack of cleanliness.
