DONT STAY HERE!!!! This is the nastiest place I've ever been to. Don't believe the reviews of people saying good things. As soon as we saw the hotel, we knew it was awful. First, the pictures lie. The building is orange and red, NOT white and modern. When we walked into the room, there was a wif of smoke. There was trash outside of the room. There were spider webs and bugs. There was mold everywhere. We had to buy disinfecting spray and spray the beds down because of bed bugs. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but ended up only staying 1 because of how bad it was. The tub was moldy and had black streaks going down it. The TV would not turn on. We tried to go to the pool, but it stunk and had trash in it. The breakfast was horrible. The pancake machine was broken. They only had home fries, yogurt, and juice. That is not a hotel quality breakfast if you ask me. again, DO NOT stay here, whatever you do.

Quality Inn & Suites Conference Center Across from Casino Introduce

When considering "Hotels Near Of Me" in Erie, PA, the Quality Inn & Suites Conference Center Across from Casino, located at 8040-A Perry Hwy, Erie, PA 16509, USA, presents itself as a significant option due to its strategic location and range of amenities. As with any establishment, particularly one with varied customer feedback, an objective assessment is crucial for potential guests. This hotel aims to cater to both leisure travelers drawn to the nearby casino and business guests utilizing its conference facilities, offering a blend of convenience and essential services.

Environment and Setting

The Quality Inn & Suites Conference Center is situated directly across from the Presque Isle Downs & Casino, which is a primary draw for many of its guests. This location places it in a business district, off I-90, ensuring high visibility and easy access for travelers. While the immediate surroundings are commercial, with various dining options nearby (such as Applebee's, Texas Roadhouse, and Longhorn Steakhouse), the hotel also features a garden area and a seasonal outdoor pool, offering some opportunities for relaxation amidst a bustling area. The architectural appearance of the hotel has drawn contrasting opinions from guests; some online photos suggest a modern, white facade, while recent customer reviews describe the building as "orange and red, NOT white and modern," indicating a potential discrepancy in online representations versus the current reality, or a significant change in exterior appearance. The proximity to a major highway means guests can expect some level of road noise, typical of such locations.

Services and Amenities

The Quality Inn & Suites offers a variety of services and amenities, aiming to provide a comprehensive stay. A key offering is the complimentary breakfast, which generally includes a continental breakfast daily and a hot breakfast buffet on weekends. However, recent reviews suggest that the quality and variety of breakfast items can be inconsistent, with reports of a broken pancake machine and limited options like only home fries, yogurt, and juice. Free in-room WiFi is available, and there is free self-parking on site. For recreation, the hotel features a seasonal outdoor pool, a game room with pool tables and darts, and a bar/lounge. The on-site restaurant, Black Jax Bar and Grille, serves lunch and dinner and offers pool views, and is reported to have happy hour specials. For business needs, there is a 24-hour business center and conference facilities, including the Chelsea Conference Center, capable of accommodating up to 300 people for various events like corporate meetings or wedding receptions. The hotel also offers laundry facilities, dry cleaning services, a 24-hour front desk, and a fireplace in the lobby. Each of the 110 rooms is equipped with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with premium cable channels, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a coffee maker. While some listings indicate the hotel is not pet-friendly, service animals are welcome without fees. A complimentary shuttle service to the casino is sometimes offered, typically from Thursday through Saturday.

Features and Distinguishing Aspects

The hotel's primary distinguishing feature is its direct proximity to Presque Isle Downs & Casino, making it highly convenient for guests visiting the gaming and entertainment venue. The presence of an on-site sports bar and grill, Black Jax, provides immediate dining and entertainment options, often featuring live music and a lively atmosphere. The conference center facilities are a significant asset for corporate travelers and those planning events. However, guest experiences regarding the hotel's features are highly polarized. While some positive reviews laud the "most comfortable and relaxing hotel" with "best breakfast" and "most amazing kitchen and cleaning staff," other recent reviews paint a starkly different picture. These negative reviews mention "nasty" conditions, "mold everywhere," "spider webs and bugs," "trash outside of the room," a "moldy tub with black streaks," and non-functioning TVs. There are also concerning reports of suspected bed bugs leading guests to purchase disinfectant spray. The pool, while listed as an amenity, has been described as "stunk and had trash in it." The contrasting feedback makes it challenging to provide a definitive objective assessment of the current state of these features. It's worth noting that the property primarily uses exterior corridors, which is common for a motel-style setup, and some reports indicate the property does not have an elevator to upper floors.

Promotional Information and Value

The Quality Inn & Suites Conference Center often promotes itself as offering good value, especially given its location across from the casino and its inclusion of amenities like free breakfast and free WiFi. As part of the Choice Hotels brand, guests can often find competitive rates and take advantage of the Choice Privileges Rewards program. The hotel aims to provide "value for your money," and with its conference facilities, it positions itself as a suitable option for groups and events. However, the wide disparity in guest reviews regarding cleanliness and maintenance significantly impacts the perceived value. While the advertised price might be attractive, potential guests should consider the consistency of the experience reported by previous visitors. The hotel allows children up to 20 years old to stay free when using existing beds, which can be a cost-saving factor for families. Average prices observed are around $75-100 per night, indicating its positioning as a budget-friendly option.

Nearby Attractions and Local Connectivity

The hotel's location at 8040-A Perry Hwy is highly advantageous for accessing a variety of Erie attractions. Beyond Presque Isle Downs & Casino (within walking distance), guests are within a short drive of Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park (approximately 1.6 miles), Millcreek Mall (around 4.5 miles), and the Erie Zoo (approximately 3 miles). Presque Isle State Park, with its beaches and outdoor recreational opportunities on Lake Erie, is also easily reachable. For those attending events or visiting students, Gannon University, Penn State Erie-Behrend College, and Mercyhurst University are all within a reasonable distance. The proximity to I-90 and I-79 ensures convenient travel to and from the hotel, as well as to Erie International Airport (approximately 7 miles away). Local dining options and essential services like Walmart and Sam's Club are also close by, adding to the convenience for guests.

Customer Reviews and Sentiment

The customer reviews for Quality Inn & Suites Conference Center Across from Casino present an unusually stark contrast. One review describes it as "the best hotel in the world" with "the most comfortable and relaxing hotel" and "amazing kitchen and cleaning staff," highlighting a very positive family-like atmosphere and excellent service. This review also mentions an outdoor pool (seasonal) and an arcade for kids, as well as a field for cookouts. Conversely, another very recent review vehemently advises, "DONT STAY HERE!!!!," describing the property as "nastiest place I've ever been to" with issues including smoke odor, trash, spider webs, bugs, mold, and suspected bed bugs, leading to a curtailed stay. It criticizes the pool for being dirty and the breakfast as "horrible." Other reviews from early 2025 also mention issues with cleanliness, outdated facilities, uncomfortable mattresses, and even roaches. Some guests describe the property as "old motel" that needs renovation and upgrading. This divergence in experiences makes it difficult to form a single, consistent objective picture. Potential guests should be aware of this variability and consider prioritizing more recent reviews to gauge the current state of the property. While some guests clearly have very positive experiences, others have encountered significant issues regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and the accuracy of online representations, which are critical factors for any stay. Review scores on various platforms vary, but many indicate average or below-average ratings for cleanliness and property condition, while location and staff service often receive slightly higher marks.

Worst hotel/motel experience I've ever had. 1. I was ignored by the desk attendant, who was glued to his computer. When my husband walked in, he jumped out of his chair to greet him, still ignoring me until he *had* to deal with me. 2. The key cards didn't work. We were given a different room. 3. In the new room, The bed was broken. The dip in the middle was more like a valley. If I hadn't been so damn tired, I would have left then and there. 100% do not recommend

This was the absolute worst stay that I’ve had at a hotel! We walked in the room and I had a hard time shutting the door bc the inside lock was hanging by 1 screw and it looked like someone had tried to kick in the door. There was a door between the bedroom and living room that was missing slats. All it was good for was to block people from looking into the room because the curtains were so far away from the window you could see right into the bedroom. The ceiling was bubbled all the way across the front from water damage and it had just beer painted over. I hope there was mold remediation done! The floors and furniture were old and disgusting and the room the continental breakfast was served in wasn’t much better. I was raised to say one thing nice so, the restaurant that was attached was nice and the waitress was nice.

This place was a total dump. It’s old and dingy. No elevator (which was inconvenient for me with 3 small kids and lots of heavy luggage. It says on Expedia that they have cribs available (they did not). The room itself smelled and seemed to be damp with condensation. We found a pair of socks that didn’t belong to any of us and the whole room was dirtier than just about any hotel room I’ve ever seen. There was what appeared to be feces on the walls in the bathroom/shower and mold in the fridge. The breakfast was a joke with waffles that would not cook through (though we found that this was just with strawberry flavored batter), no cream cheese one day and almost no bagels another. Super stale bread and cereal, none of the juice worked except the orange juice which was very acidic. Every night there were loud and rambunctious guests every night outside the in the breezeway to the rooms (and it was almost as if there were zero sound barrier for this). Some of the other guests made us feel slightly uncomfortable/unsafe with their language and approach. Our keys to the room stopped working and had to be replaced with it happening to both keys once and just one key later after the replacement. Overall horrible experience and I would definitely never stay there again. I think it would be cleaner and safer to stay on the floor of a Walmart bathroom to be honest.
