Not a great hotel, it is rundown. Other reviews stated presence of bedbugs, I didn't see any thank God. But if I wake up and have bites I will be immediately editing my review. They need new shower heads. Mine had the typical green/white residue, which is extremely difficult to clean. The water did not feel too good but did the job; im glad there was lotion. The AC looked filthy, turned off after a while. Oh also, someone opened my door...that's my fault for not locking it immediately. They asked who I was, I said that I just got this room, they apologized and left. Was not sure if I should call police. It's also kinda noisy. I think I need to form a habit of speaking to staff about potential issues. Other than that, it's alright. It's not pricey, so I guess u get what u pay for. Keep in mind that this location is essentially in the middle of nowhere, so if u just need a quick place to stay, this isn't too bad of a spot. I am not gonna judge all that much. Speaking of location, this area is gorgeous. Upstate NY is a sight to see.

Located at 160 Holiday Way, Schoharie, NY 12157, USA, this hotel can be contacted via phone at (518) 702-7005 or +1 518-702-7005. As a Quality Inn & Suites property, it typically falls within the mid-range budget category, aiming to offer a balance of essential amenities and affordability.

The environment of the Quality Inn & Suites Schoharie is defined by its location in rural upstate New York, specifically near the popular attraction of Howe Caverns. This area is known for its natural beauty, as attested by a customer review noting, "Speaking of location, this area is gorgeous. Upstate NY is a sight to see." The description of the location as "essentially in the middle of nowhere" by one reviewer, while "beautiful and quiet" by another, suggests a tranquil setting removed from urban bustle, ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat or easy access to outdoor activities and natural landmarks like the caverns. The hotel's address on "Holiday Way" implies it might be part of a small cluster of hospitality services, likely off a main road for convenient access for travelers. The external appearance would typically be consistent with a modern, mid-tier hotel, with parking facilities available for guests.

In terms of services, a Quality Inn & Suites generally offers a range of amenities designed to enhance guest comfort and convenience. A 24-hour front desk is standard, providing around-the-clock check-in/check-out and assistance. Complimentary Wi-Fi access is typically available throughout the property and in guest rooms, essential for today's travelers. A key service often promoted by Quality Inn is complimentary breakfast, and indeed, a customer review confirms, "The breakfast was good I did enjoy that they had hot bagels and tea a quick bite before you go out." This provides a valuable cost-saving benefit for guests. Housekeeping services are typically provided, though the consistency of their thoroughness is a point of contention in customer feedback. The staff is described as "great and helpful" by one reviewer, suggesting a positive interaction with hotel personnel. Parking is generally free and on-site.

The features of the Quality Inn & Suites Schoharie near Howe Caverns are designed to cater to various traveler needs. Guest rooms are typically equipped with essential amenities such as a private bathroom, a television, and air conditioning. While specific features like microwaves and refrigerators in every room are common in Quality Inn & Suites properties, the provided reviews indicate some rooms may have issues with functionality (e.g., "The AC looked filthy, turned off after a while") or condition (e.g., "the shower heads. Mine had the typical green/white residue"). One review explicitly states, "Their is not fitness area and no pool. It was inform that the fitness area was close due to safety concerns," which is a significant absence for guests expecting recreational facilities often associated with "Suites" in a hotel name. Similarly, while ice machines and vending machines are mentioned, the latter is noted as "almost empty," suggesting potential issues with stocking. The lack of a safe for valuables is also a critical feature mentioned by a customer ("They also don't have a safe to keep your valuables please don't bring them with you if you have electronics don't leave them in your room").

Promotional information for the Quality Inn & Suites Schoharie would primarily highlight its strategic location "near Howe Caverns," making it an ideal base for tourists visiting this popular attraction. Its affordability, often marketed as a "budget-friendly" or "affordable stay," would be a key selling point. The complimentary breakfast, convenience for travelers passing through upstate New York, and the general "quiet" environment would also be emphasized. As a Choice Hotels brand, it participates in the Choice Privileges loyalty program, allowing guests to earn points for free nights and receive exclusive member rates. Special offers, discounts for AAA/AARP members, and seasonal promotions would be used to attract guests. The hotel's appeal would be to those seeking a straightforward, economical stay with basic amenities.

However, an objective introduction must heavily weigh the significant and consistent negative feedback from customer reviews, which reveal considerable challenges with the hotel's condition and security. One review explicitly states, "Not a great hotel, it is rundown." This guest reported dirty shower heads, an air conditioner that looked "filthy" and turned off, and critically, a potential security breach where "someone opened my door...that's my fault for not locking it immediately. They asked who I was, I said that I just got this room, they apologized and left." This incident prompted the guest to question whether to "call police" and highlights a serious safety concern. The same reviewer noted the hotel is "kinda noisy."

Another review corroborates many of these issues and adds more: "I experience dirty sheets and was change to another room that the carpet was very stain with red juice." This guest explicitly states, "I couldn't sleep afraid that someone was going to open the door and I didn't want to complain again. I felt this was a serious security issue." This suggests pervasive problems with room cleanliness and security, with the reviewer even noting that "even the locks are broken." This guest also observed "a lot of customers was not happy with their stay since I witness them complaining to the front desk." The review also confirms the lack of a fitness area and pool due to "safety concerns," and warns about bringing valuables. Both reviews mention the hotel's affordability as a mitigating factor ("It's not pricey, so I guess u get what u pay for." and "the price was affordable"), implying that guests accept these conditions due to the low cost.

In conclusion, for users of "Hotels Near Of Me" considering the Quality Inn & Suites Schoharie near Howe Caverns at 160 Holiday Way, Schoharie, NY 12157, USA, it is crucial to understand that while it offers a convenient location for visiting Howe Caverns and provides an affordable stay with complimentary breakfast and friendly staff, there are substantial and consistent concerns regarding the hotel's physical condition, cleanliness, maintenance, and especially security. The repeated mentions of rundown facilities, broken locks, dirty rooms, and security breaches paint a concerning picture. Therefore, while it may serve as a "quick place to stay" for some at a low price point, potential guests should set expectations very low concerning comfort, amenities beyond basic sustenance, and personal security, and consider the explicit warnings provided by former guests before making a booking. The trade-off for affordability appears to be significant compromises in quality and safety.

The location is beautiful and quiet, the staff is great and helpful, I do agree with other reviews. I experience dirty sheets and was change to another room that the carpet was very stain with red juice. I only stay for a short period of time and the price was affordable. The staff was great is not their fault that the owners don't care to invest in a hotel that needs a serious upgrade and renovations even the locks are broken. I couldn't sleep afraid that someone was going to open the door and I didn't want to complain again. I felt this was a serious security issue. I was given a room with flooring and not carpet, which I loved. The room looked great! BUT, I notice after using the toilet the first time that my toilet paper took a very long time to go down. It was just slowly spinning before finally going down. Some moments I would have to flush it twice to get it down. I was getting ready to leave for the day and I noticed the toilet wasn’t flushing the toilet paper down. I flushed it a few times the water would fill up and slowly spin, the water would go down, but the toilet paper didn’t go anywhere. I let it go for a bit and tried flushing again before getting my shoes on to leave. Bad idea, the toilet filled up and kept going! All over the bathroom floor, I throw towels down and ran for the phone called the front desk told them what was going on. The front desk manager, ran to my room with the housekeeper, I ran to the door to let them in and slid to the door almost doing a split water was everywhere. The housekeeper snapped at me for not turning the water off. My thought was to get the towels down so that the water didn’t get to the door, which the water did go out the door. I didn’t think to reach around the toilet to turn off the water. This has never happened to me before. The water went out my hotel door and went into the hallway (which I have to add is still carpeted). I just kept apologizing that I didn’t know I need to do that and then I just stood there dealing with her snapping at me as if this was my fault. All I did was flush a toilet with toilet paper in it! She got the water off and started putting towels down. Another housekeeper showed up and I stood there listening to them say, “this happens all the time” “ they should really show the guests where the shut off valve is when they check in so they can turn the water off when this happens” “ this just happened to the other room down the hall” and they kept going. Sounded like multiple times a day this happens. Now I know why they took out the carpets. Maybe they should contact a plumber instead. After they dried the floor, the second housekeeper left to get something to wash the floor with. There were pieces of toilet paper on the floor. The first housekeeper took her broom and pushed some of them out into the carpeted hallway, and then came back in and started to pick up the small pieces of toilet paper with her bare fingers and throwing it out into the hall and began touching everything without washing her hands. The second housekeeper came back to the room with a small washcloth and a spray bottle. She sprayed one spot right in front of the toilet one sprits and wiping that with her dry rag, all over the bathroom floor with that tiny little spray. She also started picking up tiny little pieces of toilet paper with her bare fingers and throwing those away. Never washed her hands then she came out of the bathroom sprayed a small area in front of the door and wiped that everywhere. That’s how they cleaned the floor after my toilet over flowed. After all of this, I began to notice, while walking to and from my room while I was checking out, that there were tiny little pieces of paper that looked just like toilet paper all over the carpeted hallway. I didn’t notice it before, but now that’s all I see. I looked at the cracks under the doors of each room I passed and they all had these little white pieces of paper that looked like toilet paper. I am beyond grossed out! FYI there are some diseases that are passed through fecal matter. Please stay safe and go somewhere else. Also want to add, the ice Machine had black mold.

Water ran dark brown when first turned on. Door was warped, plus the security latch was too narrow to go over the ball so could not use to secure the door. The toilet ran every few minutes even though no one was using it. Kept hearing some kind of noise that sounded like a huge washing machine on the spin cycle, but I somehow doubt laundry was being done all night long.. The place is run down and decrepit. Was seriously disappointed in this hotel. Used to be that if a hotel was under the Quality Hotels name, it was at least in decent shape. Had come up to NY to take care of some things after my Mom passed recently, and was a horrible trip, and believe me when I say that this place did nothing to help make things better.

Not a good experience..I think they were.doing construction above us all night ..I called desk 3am and nothing changed so I had to go out to desk at 3:30am and insist they stop the noise.. quiet after that but I was wide awake by then... horrible night with a I'm sorry from desk employee.
