To begin, I am not angry with the gentleman working the front desk, as he was just doing his job. But when we first entered the hotel, I was wearing face paint because we were going to a concert for a band whose culture largely exists based on face paint. I was told to remove my face paint otherwise I would not be allowed entry to the hotel. Fine, I removed it. It’s a dumb rule but I’ll follow the rules. We were then made to sign a waiver stating that we would not damage the room…have never had that happen at a hotel before. We were treated like criminals just because I made the silly mistake of wearing face paint to a hotel. Then, we get to the room, and the walls are dirty and the shower is full of hair. Having to remove my face paint just to enter the hotel, only to be greeted by a disgusting room is absolutely ridiculous. If you’re in the area to see a show at The Rave, I recommend literally any other hotel. This place is a joke.

While some guests have had unique experiences or noted areas for improvement regarding specific room cleanliness or policies, many appreciate the overall value, friendly staff, and the convenient amenities like the complimentary breakfast. In this article, we'll delve into what makes the Ramada by Wyndham Milwaukee a suitable option for your next visit, covering its strategic location, the services it provides, its key features, and why it might be a practical choice for those of us living right here in Wisconsin.

The Ramada by Wyndham Milwaukee is strategically located at 2301 W Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53233, USA. This position offers excellent accessibility to several key Milwaukee landmarks and transportation hubs, making it a convenient base for a variety of travelers.

One of its most significant advantages, frequently highlighted by guests, is its remarkable proximity to The Rave-Eagles Club. It's just a short "2 min walk" or "0.1 miles" away, making it an ideal choice for concert-goers who want to avoid the hassle of driving and parking after a show. Marquette University is also incredibly close, only a "5 min walk" or "0.3 miles" from the hotel, which is perfect for visiting students, faculty, or attending campus events. The hotel also offers "easy access to I-94," facilitating smooth travel in and out of the city.

Beyond these immediate neighbors, the Ramada provides a complimentary local area shuttle service (up to 3 miles), which can be a huge asset for exploring downtown Milwaukee. Guests have noted the convenience of taking the "hotel shuttle to the Baird Center" (Milwaukee's convention center), which is a significant perk for convention attendees. The shuttle also extends to the Potawatomi Bingo Casino (about a 14-minute walk or a short shuttle ride), and even offers free casino and cruise terminal shuttles, enhancing accessibility to various entertainment and transit points. While downtown Milwaukee attractions like Fiserv Forum (about a 3-minute drive) and the Harley-Davidson Museum (about a 4-minute drive) are a short distance away, the shuttle service can help bridge these gaps. On-site uncovered self-parking is available for a surcharge (typically $20 per night with in/out privileges), adding convenience for those traveling by car.

The Ramada by Wyndham Milwaukee offers several key features and highlights that contribute to its appeal, particularly for those seeking convenience and value in downtown Milwaukee:

  • Exceptional Location for Events: Its direct proximity to The Rave-Eagles Club (a 2-minute walk) and close walking distance to Marquette University (a 5-minute walk) are significant highlights, making it ideal for concert-goers, university visitors, and event attendees who want to avoid traffic.
  • Complimentary Shuttle Service: The free area shuttle (up to 3 miles), including service to the Baird Center and casino, is a major perk, significantly enhancing accessibility to downtown attractions and major event venues without the need for personal transport.
  • Free Continental Breakfast: The inclusion of a complimentary breakfast, complete with a popular "hotel wafflemaker" and a pleasant breakfast room with natural light, adds considerable value and convenience for guests starting their day.
  • Friendly and Non-Intrusive Staff: Guests frequently praise the staff for being "kind and friendly" yet "not intrusive," creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. This positive interaction is a consistent highlight.
  • Recent Renovations: The hotel was "remodeled in 2024," which suggests updates to rooms and facilities, contributing to a more modern and comfortable environment. Guests have noted rooms being "tidy, comfortable, and smelled clean," and the "breakfast room space was really, really nice."
  • Indoor Pool & Fitness Center: These on-site recreational facilities provide opportunities for relaxation and maintaining wellness, adding value to the stay regardless of the weather.
  • Pet-Friendly: The hotel's policy of welcoming pets (for a fee) makes it a convenient option for those traveling with their animal companions.

However, it is important to address some concerns raised in guest reviews. One particularly negative experience mentioned an "odd rule" about removing face paint, being made to sign a "waiver stating that we would not damage the room," and encountering a "disgusting room" with "dirty walls" and a "shower full of hair." This highlights potential inconsistencies in guest experience and room cleanliness, as well as strict or unusual policies. While other reviews mention rooms being "clean" and "comfortable," these discrepancies are worth noting. Some rooms also feature "partially-open bathroom" designs with shower/bathtub combinations.

  • Seasonal or Event-Based Specials: Given its proximity to The Rave and Marquette University, the hotel might offer specific packages tied to major concerts, university events, or seasonal holidays.

Always review the terms and conditions for any promotion, as blackout dates, prepayment requirements, and other restrictions may apply. I'm really glad I stayed here rather than driving home for the night and back to MKE again tomorrow. Plus, the front desk staff just told me I can take the hotel shuttle to the Baird Center. Excellent! The building is clean, quiet and accessible. Staff was kind and friendly but not too much so--the perfect level of friendly but not intrusive. The room I stayed in was tidy, comfortable, and smelled clean. I slept really well. Breakfast was convenient and tasty (love hotel wafflemakers) and the breakfast room space was really, really nice -- all windows and natural light. It's where I'm writing from right now, actually.

The rooms were comfortable, clean, and suited all of our needs. However, the walls were quite thin, which meant if anyone was being loud in the hallway or room next door we could hear every bit of it. The morning and daytime staff were excellent - friendly, professional, helpful. The nighttime staff were not. Our first night there, the desk agent appeared annoyed and bothered by my husband asking her to repeat the WiFi password because he wasn't quite ready to type it in the first time she shared it. The second night, the people in room next to ours were blasting music, yelling, and engaging in loud amorous activities. Not to mention the overwhelming weed smell. We waited a long time for them to quiet down but once it was coming up on midnight and we were unable to sleep, we called the front desk and said we couldn't sleep because of the noise. Some time later, the desk agent came up to our floor, brought the people into the hall and outside of our door (allowing us to hear the whole conversation), and gave them the room numbers of us and others who had called about them. That felt so sketchy and unprofessional to me. I used to work front desk at a hotel and I would have never in a million years shared the room numbers of people who called to complain with a problematic guest. The people did quiet down for a brief time after that, but once their music started back up we didn't call again knowing that the situation was unlikely to be professionally addressed. The location was perfect for the purposes of our trip (wedding). The included shuttle brought us downtown and back. But I heard from multiple people that this is a sketchy part of town. In fact, our Uber driver said she normally wouldn't even pick someone up from that area, but because we were going to the airport she figured we were safe. Other feedback - the breakfast was good and it was nice that they offered so many different things for purchase at the front desk!

Great location within walking distance of The Rave. Rooms are decent though the thermostat appeared to be broke in ours so it was hot. Breakfast was what you'd expect for a hotel with free breakfasts. Waffles were good. If you need a cheap stay that's decent this is it!

The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Honestly, the only real complaint is that the thermostat was set to 68 and we couldn't turn it down. We did turn it off but the room was still a bit too warm. The staff were friendly but we didn't really need anything. Check in and check out was a breeze because we had done it online ahead of time.
