To begin, I am not angry with the gentleman working the front desk, as he was just doing his job. But when we first entered the hotel, I was wearing face paint because we were going to a concert for a band whose culture largely exists based on face paint. I was told to remove my face paint otherwise I would not be allowed entry to the hotel. Fine, I removed it. It’s a dumb rule but I’ll follow the rules. We were then made to sign a waiver stating that we would not damage the room…have never had that happen at a hotel before. We were treated like criminals just because I made the silly mistake of wearing face paint to a hotel. Then, we get to the room, and the walls are dirty and the shower is full of hair. Having to remove my face paint just to enter the hotel, only to be greeted by a disgusting room is absolutely ridiculous. If you’re in the area to see a show at The Rave, I recommend literally any other hotel. This place is a joke.

However, it is important to address some concerns raised in guest reviews. One particularly negative experience mentioned an "odd rule" about removing face paint, being made to sign a "waiver stating that we would not damage the room," and encountering a "disgusting room" with "dirty walls" and a "shower full of hair." This highlights potential inconsistencies in guest experience and room cleanliness, as well as strict or unusual policies. While other reviews mention rooms being "clean" and "comfortable," these discrepancies are worth noting. Some rooms also feature "partially-open bathroom" designs with shower/bathtub combinations.

Jun 21, 2025 · Mads GI'm really glad I stayed here rather than driving home for the night and back to MKE again tomorrow. Plus, the front desk staff just told me I can take the hotel shuttle to the Baird Center. Excellent! The building is clean, quiet and accessible. Staff was kind and friendly but not too much so--the perfect level of friendly but not intrusive. The room I stayed in was tidy, comfortable, and smelled clean. I slept really well. Breakfast was convenient and tasty (love hotel wafflemakers) and the breakfast room space was really, really nice -- all windows and natural light. It's where I'm writing from right now, actually.
Apr 03, 2025 · Dani LongThe rooms were comfortable, clean, and suited all of our needs. However, the walls were quite thin, which meant if anyone was being loud in the hallway or room next door we could hear every bit of it. The morning and daytime staff were excellent - friendly, professional, helpful. The nighttime staff were not. Our first night there, the desk agent appeared annoyed and bothered by my husband asking her to repeat the WiFi password because he wasn't quite ready to type it in the first time she shared it. The second night, the people in room next to ours were blasting music, yelling, and engaging in loud amorous activities. Not to mention the overwhelming weed smell. We waited a long time for them to quiet down but once it was coming up on midnight and we were unable to sleep, we called the front desk and said we couldn't sleep because of the noise. Some time later, the desk agent came up to our floor, brought the people into the hall and outside of our door (allowing us to hear the whole conversation), and gave them the room numbers of us and others who had called about them. That felt so sketchy and unprofessional to me. I used to work front desk at a hotel and I would have never in a million years shared the room numbers of people who called to complain with a problematic guest. The people did quiet down for a brief time after that, but once their music started back up we didn't call again knowing that the situation was unlikely to be professionally addressed. The location was perfect for the purposes of our trip (wedding). The included shuttle brought us downtown and back. But I heard from multiple people that this is a sketchy part of town. In fact, our Uber driver said she normally wouldn't even pick someone up from that area, but because we were going to the airport she figured we were safe. Other feedback - the breakfast was good and it was nice that they offered so many different things for purchase at the front desk!
Jun 18, 2025 · Savannah NaffzigerGreat location within walking distance of The Rave. Rooms are decent though the thermostat appeared to be broke in ours so it was hot. Breakfast was what you'd expect for a hotel with free breakfasts. Waffles were good. If you need a cheap stay that's decent this is it!
May 13, 2025 · Gabrielle PetersonThe room was clean and the bed was comfy. Honestly, the only real complaint is that the thermostat was set to 68 and we couldn't turn it down. We did turn it off but the room was still a bit too warm. The staff were friendly but we didn't really need anything. Check in and check out was a breeze because we had done it online ahead of time.
