My experience staying here for one night was not so great. The front desk staff were unwelcoming and the overall cleanliness of the place was poor. There was an unpleasant smell throughout the interior, and visible stains on the walls and furniture made it feel neglected. The bathrooms were not clean, and the flush system was ineffective, requiring multiple buckets of water. Additionally, the breakfast service was very poor. There was no self service and guests were required to obtain a breakfast coupon from the front desk. The person responsible for providing the breakfast was unfriendly. Overall, this property needs significant improvements in cleanliness, customer service, and basic maintenance to offer a better guest experience.
For individuals and travelers navigating the search for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Albany, New York, the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Albany, situated at 3 Watervliet Ave Ext, Albany, NY 12206, USA, is a property that warrants an objective and detailed introduction. While the hotel is part of a globally recognized brand, providing a certain baseline expectation, it is important to consider recent guest feedback to form a comprehensive understanding of what one might expect during a stay.
The environment of the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Albany, as described by recent customers, presents a mixed picture. The exterior and surrounding outdoor areas are noted as "not the best kept," particularly on the sides and rear of the property. This suggests that the immediate surroundings might not contribute to a highly welcoming first impression. Internally, guests have reported an "unpleasant smell throughout the interior," and visible signs of wear and tear, such as "stains on the walls and furniture" and "wallpaper peeling off in various places of the room and hall," indicate areas where the hotel's upkeep could be improved. These observations collectively point to an environment that guests have perceived as "neglected" and in need of significant renovation and maintenance to align with modern hospitality standards. The side doors, which reportedly did not reliably work with key cards unless propped open, also speak to maintenance issues impacting convenience and potentially security.
When it comes to services, the experiences shared by customers highlight several areas for improvement. The front desk staff, who are the first point of contact for guests, have been described as "unwelcoming," which can significantly detract from the initial impression and overall guest satisfaction. A more hospitable and friendly demeanor from the front desk is crucial for a positive start to any stay. The breakfast service, a common amenity in many hotels, received particularly negative feedback. Guests reported a lack of self-service, requiring coupons from the front desk, and an "unfriendly" person responsible for providing the breakfast. This suggests that the breakfast experience is not currently designed for convenience or a welcoming atmosphere, potentially causing frustration for guests who rely on this service to begin their day.
The core services of cleanliness and maintenance in the rooms and bathrooms have also been a point of concern. Bathrooms were noted as "not clean," with ineffective flush systems requiring manual intervention, which is a fundamental and critical issue for guest comfort and hygiene. The overall sentiment is that the property "needs significant improvements in cleanliness, customer service, and basic maintenance to offer a better guest experience."
Regarding features, the rooms themselves are described as "outdated," yet they offer some basic amenities. Each room includes a mini-fridge with a small freezer area, which is a convenient feature for storing beverages or small food items. However, the absence of a microwave in the rooms means guests cannot easily reheat food. A practical feature that was positively noted by a guest was "good water pressure," which is often appreciated for a comfortable shower experience. Another observation was the presence of "stained beds under the sheets" and "water spots throughout the ceiling," indicating a need for comprehensive room overhauls beyond superficial cleaning. The functional breakdown of a toilet flushing mechanism in one room, necessitating a room change, further points to underlying maintenance issues that impact guest comfort and convenience. The loose fit of sheets over the beds also suggests a lack of attention to detail in room preparation.
In terms of value, the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Albany is "only recommended due to the moderate price." This suggests that for travelers whose primary consideration is budget, the hotel offers an accessible price point. While it is part of the Wyndham brand, implying access to the Wyndham Rewards program for points accumulation and potential member benefits, the immediate guest experience appears to be heavily influenced by the aforementioned cleanliness and maintenance issues. Therefore, any promotional information or perceived value is largely contingent on a guest's tolerance for these reported deficiencies versus the cost savings. Guests considering "Hotels Near Of Me" with a primary focus on affordability might still find it a viable option, but with tempered expectations regarding the overall quality of the facilities and service. It is advisable for prospective guests to contact the hotel directly at (518) 438-8431 or +1 518-438-8431 to inquire about specific pricing, seasonal deals, or any current renovations that might be addressing the reported issues.
In conclusion, the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Albany, positioned for those seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" in Albany, NY, appears to be a property where the moderate price is the primary draw. Based on recent guest feedback, it currently faces challenges in maintaining a consistently clean and well-maintained environment. Services, particularly at the front desk and during breakfast, have been described as unfriendly and inconvenient. While rooms offer basic amenities like mini-fridges and good water pressure, they are noted as outdated and in need of renovation. For budget-conscious travelers seeking a basic overnight stay, and who are prepared for the reported conditions, it might serve its purpose. However, for those prioritizing cleanliness, modern amenities, and welcoming customer service, it may not align with expectations. Significant improvements in cleanliness, customer service, and basic maintenance are indicated as necessary to enhance the guest experience at this property.

May 16, 2025 · Habibullah WahidiRoom was okay, but highly outdated. Beds were stained under the sheets which fit loosely over the bed, with water spots throughout the ceiling. Rooms have mini fridge with small freezer area, but did not have a microwave. First room, the flushing mechanism of the toilet broke, requiring to be moved to a different room. Wallpaper could be seen peeling off in various places of the room and hall. Side doors did not work with key cards for entry unless propped open or not fully closed. Outdoor area around the hotel was not the best kept, especially on the sides and rear. Only recommended due to the moderate price and good water pressure.
May 19, 2025 · Gremlin KingDespite all the negative reviews, I decided to look after my stay which was a total of 4 days. I was booked room 129, upon arriving the room did have a stale weird smell to it, but I mean I figured that much. Walking to the room the hotel was old and outdated, however my room was decent to say the least. My room had a total of two beds, there was a weird pink stain in multiple spots on my blanket but the sheets were pretty clean or so it looked. Now reading the multiple roach comments, I in fact did not see one at all during my stay! How relieving right? My bathroom was pretty clean, shower was clean, water was fine and got hot and stayed hot. The night before I left there was a mouse in my room, I called the front desk and the gentlemen who was very nice came to my room but I had no idea where the mouse went. He came in, I told him I don’t know where it went, and he asked when I was leaving and I told him the next day, and he said he would’ve switched my room if I was leaving later. Though it’s winter and it’s cold, I understand mice can happen anywhere as they’re looking for warmth and food, overall my stay wasn’t the worst but not the best. After reading the reviews tonight I will not be back. Everyone at the front desk was nice and accommodating and immediately after checking out my 100$ deposit was refunded immediately to my card. Thanks to whoever was cooking Indian food in my hallway, it smelled amazing and made me super hungry and jealous.
Jan 29, 2025 · Lauren MoranSo the rooms are not bad but that is where the good part of the review ends. The free breakfast that is supposed to be self serve is closed off and you have to ask for everything. Juice, hot water , coffee, waffles, I mean everything. You can't make or plate anything yourself. It's weird, it's gross. Definitely would not recommend here if you are looking for a place with breakfast included.
Apr 09, 2025 · Aaron HutchinsI wish there were a way to give no stars, negative stars even. This place was deplorable. Actually calling it that is being too nice. It was the worst of the worst. I booked a room in advance and called them to inform them that we are driving in from Buffalo, so it would be a late check-in. They stated they understood and not to worry because the room is reserved. When we arrived, they said the room was canceled cause we didn't check in by 3 pm (mind you, I booked the room and called at 5:43pm) and they already charged our card as a fee for them having to cancel. They refused to find us a room, were rude, and did not care that they were forcing us to find other accommodations. I was absolutely disappointed and disgusted. Honestly, I'm glad we didn't stay there because there were people dealing drugs all around it. It smelled horrible. It looked nothing like the photos, and the staff was rude. All the hotels in the area were booked/sold out, and we ended up having to spend over $400 for the last room in the area at a different hotel. I called several times the next day to speak to a manager about it, and every time, they were nasty to me and would hang up on me. I had to call corporate to file a formal complaint, and it's still not resolved. So I'm out of almost $500 because of them, and they don't care. DO NOT BOOK HERE! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS! WORST OF THE WORST PLACES IN THE ENTIRE CITY! BEWARE!!!
