The location of the place was near major highway, the downside to that was it's right next to a cemetery. When we first got their the open foyer looked great and polished, but the hallways didn't look to well kept. You could smell weed on the elevator way to the second floor. The first week of stay way pretty quiet, but after we extended our stay for another five days they put loud people in who fought and screamed all night til 4 in the morning. But had the nerve to call our room and told us to keep the volume down and wasn't even us. We were trying to sleep. They don't have breakfast, just tea and coffee (sometimes no sugar nor napkins). The ATM says free ATM, but the secretly charge you for the serves. The snack machines are bogus. They don't except cash so they can charge a bogus fee on your card! The machine read $4.00 for most of the items there but charge $5.00 on my prepaid card! I'm glad I didn't use my bank card for the few machine purchases! And the worst of it was the morning of check out...we checked our account and saw $577 taken from it. We contacted the bank right away and they informed us that Red Roof in Newcastle had taken the funds. Before we actually checked out they stole another $150 because it came up on the app. And had a nerve to deducted our rewards (cause we used the rewards membership points towards the stay). We confronted the clerk but she claimed her boss probably put the orders in late. I let her know that's not possible. If we paid on a certain date we check our account and see the deductible amount. And check a whole different day and more is deducted for no reason, that was done deliberately. We had to go to the bank personally to show times of stay. They had to give a new card and everything so they wouldn't keep stealing from our account. There were several complaints as we were sitting in the lobby of the hotel waiting for our Uber driver and we heard that they stole from others. I will never stay at a Red Roof ever again even if it was for free.

Red Roof Inn & Suites Wilmington – New Castle Introduce

For local users in and around Wilmington, Delaware, seeking accommodations under the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, the Red Roof Inn & Suites Wilmington – New Castle is an option that may appear in search results. Located at 1612 N Dupont Hwy Unit A, New Castle, DE 19720, USA, the hotel can be contacted at (302) 299-1400 or via mobile at +1 302-299-1400. When considering any hotel, it is crucial to gain a comprehensive understanding of its environment, the services it offers, its distinct features, and any relevant promotional information. Based on available information and recent guest reviews, here is an objective and detailed introduction to the Red Roof Inn & Suites Wilmington – New Castle.

Environment and Ambiance: Mixed Impressions and Safety Concerns

The Red Roof Inn & Suites Wilmington – New Castle is situated "near major highway," which generally suggests convenient access for travelers. However, a significant drawback noted by a guest is its proximity "right next to a cemetery," which might be a consideration for some individuals. Upon arrival, the "open foyer looked great and polished," suggesting a positive initial impression in the main entrance area. This indicates that some public-facing spaces are maintained. However, this initial positive impression is immediately contrasted with the condition of the hallways, which "didn't look too well kept." More concerningly, a strong "smell of weed on the elevator way to the second floor" was reported, indicating potential issues with guest behavior and general cleanliness within the common areas beyond the lobby. The ambiance within the hotel is also impacted by noise levels. While the "first week of stay was pretty quiet" for one guest, an extended stay reportedly led to being placed near "loud people who fought and screamed all night till 4 in the morning." This suggests inconsistent guest demographics or room assignments that can significantly affect the peace and quiet of a stay. Furthermore, there are serious safety concerns raised, with one review stating that in the last five years, the hotel has become "at least half long-term residents," including "more than a few are drug addicts," evidenced by "paramedics there treating an overdose." This directly impacts the perceived safety and comfort for guests, leading to worries about vehicle break-ins and prompting guests to check out early and move to another motel. For local users searching for "Hotels Near Of Me," these environmental factors related to maintenance, noise, and safety are critical considerations.

Services and Facilities: Basic Offerings with Significant Shortcomings

The services and facilities at the Red Roof Inn & Suites Wilmington – New Castle appear to be minimal and, in some cases, problematic according to guest feedback. The hotel "don't have breakfast, just tea and coffee," and even these basic provisions are inconsistent, with complaints about "sometimes no sugar nor napkins." This indicates a very limited offering for morning refreshments. The lack of a substantial breakfast is a notable absence, especially when compared to many budget-friendly hotels that offer complimentary breakfast. Furthermore, critical issues were reported regarding vending machines and ATM services. The "ATM says free ATM, but they secretly charge you for the serves," indicating deceptive practices. Similarly, the "snack machines are bogus," as they "don't accept cash so they can charge a bogus fee on your card," with discrepancies between advertised prices ($4.00) and charged amounts ($5.00) on prepaid cards. This points to unreliable and potentially exploitative automated services. The most severe service complaint revolves around financial transactions and alleged theft. Guests reported "stealing from our account," with sums of "$577 taken" and "another $150" deducted unexpectedly. The process of rectifying this required contacting banks, getting new cards, and presenting personal proof of stay, suggesting a significant breach of trust and a highly negative customer service experience. The clerk's explanation of "boss probably put the orders in late" was dismissed by the guest as a deliberate act. The presence of "several complaints as we were sitting in the lobby" from other guests regarding similar financial issues further corroborates these serious allegations. The hotel's staff is described as "decent" in one instance, but this is overshadowed by the profound issues reported in financial dealings and the handling of guest complaints regarding noise. The lack of effective intervention regarding disruptive guests also points to a failing in maintaining a comfortable environment for all patrons.

Features: Highway Proximity and Minimal Amenities, with Major Concerns

A primary feature of the Red Roof Inn & Suites Wilmington – New Castle is its strategic location "near major highway," offering accessibility for travelers. The "open foyer" is presented as a visually appealing feature upon entry, suggesting some effort in front-facing aesthetics. Rooms are equipped with tea and coffee facilities, albeit inconsistently stocked, providing a basic in-room amenity. However, the features are largely overshadowed by significant negative aspects. The presence of long-term residents, including those with drug-related issues, is a stark feature that impacts the safety and comfort of other guests. This change in demographic over the last five years, as noted by a returning guest, is a critical shift in the hotel's operating model. The lack of effective soundproofing or policies to manage disruptive guests is another operational feature that negatively impacts the stay experience. The problematic vending machines and ATM, with their deceptive fees, represent a significant flaw in the automated services offered. Most critically, the alleged "stealing" of funds from guest accounts is an extremely serious operational feature that undermines trust and directly affects financial security. This directly relates to the integrity of the business. The hotel's refusal or inability to properly address these financial discrepancies, requiring guests to involve their banks, is a highly detrimental feature. For local users assessing "Hotels Near Of Me," these negative features related to safety, financial transparency, and guest demographics are paramount considerations that heavily outweigh any potential positives like highway access or an initially polished lobby.

Promotional Information and Guest Considerations

Based on the provided information, there is no positive promotional information or specific incentives highlighted for the Red Roof Inn & Suites Wilmington – New Castle. The guest reviews instead provide critical warnings that serve as anti-promotional information. The hotel's affiliation with the Red Roof Inn brand might imply certain budget-friendly expectations, and the mention of "rewards membership points" indicates a loyalty program. However, the experience of a guest having their "rewards deducted" improperly further diminishes any perceived benefit of such programs. For local users searching for "Hotels Near Of Me," the information available suggests extreme caution. The severe complaints regarding safety concerns, including drug activity and reported theft of funds, are paramount and should heavily influence any booking decision. The inconsistent basic amenities (tea/coffee supplies), problematic vending machines, and general lack of cleanliness in common areas like hallways further detract from any positive attributes. While the location near a major highway might seem convenient, the overall negative experiences detailed by multiple guests, especially the serious allegations of financial misconduct and concerns over safety, would strongly advise against selecting this establishment. The concluding statement, "I will never stay at a Red Roof ever again even if it was for free," summarizes the overwhelming sentiment of dissatisfaction and distrust. Therefore, for local users, the key consideration for this hotel is to thoroughly research all available reviews and consider these significant safety and financial concerns before making any booking. The absence of positive promotional elements and the abundance of severe negative feedback suggest that prospective guests should exercise extreme vigilance.

We checked in. We had stayed here before and enjoyed it and felt safe. But in the last five years it has become at least half long-term residents. More than a few are drug addicts (we know because there were paramedics there treating an overdose). We were worried about our car being broken into, checked out, and moved to another motel not far away.

Above average room for a 2 star hotel. Very clean. I asked for do not disturb sign and I was told that I would be getting one but never did because I work late at night and of course they came knocking on my door several times between 8 and 9 am. I was told to clean the rooms every day but the maid was right next to my room when I left and nothing was done. Still no do not disturb sign and still no hand towel that I requested . I hope these simple requests will be honored so that I can give a better rating. I got a hot shower anytime I wanted that was awesome. On a negative I was never able to connect to the Wi-Fi. Always failed. Or connected with no internet service.

Asap.. don't clean it don't attempt to fix whatever just get a whole new one. Please!!

Staff is extremely rude and very short. The experience that I’ve had at this hotel was unacceptable! Not only was the customer service HORRIBLE, but the cleanliness of the hotel is horrendous. I stayed for 2 days, (housekeeping never cleaned room) so I took it upon myself to clean the room, when I moved one of the beds there was a USED CONDOM, behind one of the beds. I went straight to the front desk and told them, and they told me that it was too late for housekeeping to come out and clean up the used condoms. So I told them to please have them come in the morning and clean it. The next morning I went to work and when I came back from work at the end of the day THE CONDOM WAS STILL THERE!!!! && THE ROOM WAS NOT CLEANED!!!! So I went to the front desk AGAIN and was told AGAIN THAT it was too late to have housekeeping come clean and proceeded to tell me that housekeeping does a good job and that each room is thoroughly cleaned, and there was no way that a used condom was left in the room. Basically insinuating that the used condom was mine. Long story short THE USED CONDOM IS STILL IN MY ROOM AS I TYPE THIS.
