The other complaints here are spot on. Let me add PRICE GOUGING. We stayed at the Red Roof in Poughkeepsie out of necessity, on VASSAR's Parent's weekend. This was in late September, 2024. This normally reasonable hotel was $800 for three nights. It was a shabby, cheap experience, with dingy hallways and a social worker working out of an open office on our floor. In addition, there was an incident with someone with mental issues and the police had to be called. Not only was this a sub-par place to stay, we were price gouged and felt uncomfortable there. I registered this complaint with the company first, but they replied that there is nothing they could do to compensate me/us. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL.

This puts it in a highly accessible area for those traveling by car through the Hudson Valley. Poughkeepsie itself is a significant city in the region, serving as a hub for education, business, and historical attractions. The hotel's immediate vicinity includes various retail establishments and dining options, offering convenience for guests. While it doesn't offer a secluded natural retreat, its location is practical for visitors focused on accessing Poughkeepsie's institutions and attractions. Laundry facilities are provided on-site, which can be particularly convenient for longer stays. The hotel emphasizes a "Hassle Free Guarantee," where guests are encouraged to report concerns to the front desk for resolution, and if unresolved, payment for that night may not be expected. However, specific customer experiences, such as the described "free breakfast" being limited to in-room coffee, suggest that guests should manage their expectations regarding the scope of certain amenities. The presence of a security guard is noted in one review, which could be interpreted as a measure for guest safety, though it also points to potential concerns about the property's overall environment.
A key feature of Red Roof PLUS+ Poughkeepsie, and a significant amenity for many travelers, is its pet-friendly policy. The hotel welcomes well-behaved domestic pets (cats or dogs), with specific rules regarding weight limits (typically up to 80 lbs per pet), a maximum of two pets per room, and an additional fee for the second pet or for stays exceeding seven nights. Service animals are exempt from these fees. This makes it a viable option for those traveling with their animal companions, a service highly valued by pet owners searching on a "Hotels Near Of Me" platform.

The "Hotels Near Of Me" platform focuses on connecting users with local accommodations and services. Red Roof PLUS+ Poughkeepsie, while an economy option, offers the basic necessities and accessibility that many travelers prioritize. The "price gouging" complaint, particularly during a high-demand period like Vassar's Parents' Weekend, highlights the dynamic pricing common across the industry, especially for hotels near major event venues. The feedback regarding "dingy hallways," an "open office" on a guest floor, and incidents requiring police intervention points to challenges in maintaining a consistent guest experience, which can be a concern for those seeking a more secure or premium environment. However, other reviews mentioning a "fine" room and an "exceptionally clean" room with "friendly staff" suggest variability in guest experiences. The hotel's compliance with "100% Smoke Free" status and adherence to hygiene measures (daily disinfection, hand sanitizer, protective screens) are positive aspects of its operation.
In conclusion, Red Roof PLUS+ Poughkeepsie aims to provide an affordable and functional stay for visitors to the Hudson Valley. Its primary strengths lie in its strategic location near key institutions and attractions, its pet-friendly policy, and the provision of essential amenities like free Wi-Fi and a fitness center. While some guest experiences have raised concerns about overall comfort and perceived value, its role as an accessible economy option for travelers seeking proximity to Poughkeepsie's offerings, particularly those on a budget or traveling with pets, remains evident. The provided contact numbers, (845) 462-7800 and +1 845-462-7800, offer direct access for inquiries and bookings, simplifying the process for users on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform.

Jan 13, 2025 · DHRoom and everything was fine except for a lone beetle. The “free breakfast” are cups of coffee in the room. No coffee downstairs just a table and a security guard. Mostly quiet place but was woken up by a backpack blower 830 in the morning right in front of room. The only thing that really rubs me the wrong way is the free breakfast not existing.
Nov 17, 2024 · Daniel BirchI was traveling with a group and we had several rooms here with all of the same complaints. All of the rooms had roaches and bugs on the floors and walls and the air was very heavy and musty. The updates/renovations look like amateur work. Sheetrock with exposed edges and screw heads visible. New sinks mounted on top of the pre existing counters. I'm 6 foot tall and it was uncomfortably high to wash my hands. Most of the outlets in the rooms didnt work. There was only 1 set of towels in the bathroom. The vending machines in the lobby have signs in them saying they are broken and to ask for drinks at the counter. The people at the counter acted as if we were bothering them when we checked and when we asked to purchase drinks. I highly recommend spending $30 more per night and staying at the Hampton Inn that shares a parking lot with this dump.
Oct 12, 2024 · Wayne ReznikThis is my first review in a bit & as I do not like posting negative anything this must be posted. I travel, have a steady bed but not on the road. I work hard to procure a safe and clean environment for myself. I reserve rooms when needed & of course which should not be any companies standard... You get what you pay for!? Not at all. As I came into this property it seemed kept. Staff very quick and welcoming. I placed a few things in my room for when I came back for the night. I came "home" for the night turned on all the lights, tv, and before I got to shower. I found a tick on the wall. Ok they roam but sheesh. Np, after my shower I dried put my towel on the bed, did my hair & when I came back I had a friend walking across my bed. Upon further inspection I found a family of these wonderful things.... Cockroaches 🪳🪳🪳🪳. I am in the biz of resale and as in pics I had to leave behind a few things including my pants that were on the floor for shower. We need to request hidden inspections of all hotels! #notimpressed #spendgoodmoneyfornothing #redroofinn
Apr 25, 2025 · Marco Alexandre Jr.Rooms where okay. You can tell it was remodeled but not 100% great like most hotels. It was comfortable and everything worked. Felt a little weird that they had security sitting at the side door. Service was exceptional though!!!
